spud pud yep, I loved sh3, so much atmosphere. Me and a German player teamed up and produced whole new interiors for sh3, brought it almost up to par with sh5 (never finished the rear torpedo room though).
Always attack a target perpindicular, not parallel or from behind as the shot you demonstrated has a high risk of missing. Know your thermal layers and depth before your attack run begins so you what depth to dive to. Have active tracks on the destroyer escorts, run silent, and dive deep to under the acoustic thermal layer because the destroyers *will* hone in and find you using the bubble torpedo tracks to about where those shots came from with active sonar and depth charge you. If you cannot shake them, launch a homing torpedo, drop a noisemaker, and change depth, course, and speed. That's what your run should have demonstrated.
12 years ago I've been playing SH3 , and I see nothing new now. Drops on a camera? Is that all? We got touch screens, iPhone and Netflix. Space X landed goddamn rockets and you added drops on a camera.. What about more realistic ocean's bottom? Ilands , fish , seals. Just as idea.
WW2 sub warfare was in no way anything like modern sub warfare. Being submerged is about the only connection and even then a WW2-era sub spent 95% of it's time on the surface.
The Wolves of Steel megamod pack makes this highly addictive , although I'll concede it changes so much it's on the brink of being considered an entirely different game.
It´s unfinished game cause ubisoft cut the money to ubisoft Bucharest. They don´t finished well. Fking ubisoft. Hope in the future make a good sub. sim.
This is really cute...and nothing works this way in the real world. During WWII submarines did not have the ability to look ahead or around above the surface and allow them to target a fleet. A submarine rarely traveled topside due to enemy patrols and a great possibility of being sunk. Firing torpedo's were always a problem because of inaccurate guidance and a slow run out to a target, timing was everything. The destruction of an aircraft carrier is not a guarantee as the entire ship never blew up all at once, the primary damage was blowing a hole in the side of the welded panels causing structural damage, and then the warhead in the torpedo exploding causing some form of internal damage and fires which would spread if not contained. Look, as far as the software goes...it's very good, and the details were also very good. Pay attention to historical details as well and your next version should be a blast! Good Luck!
I have silent hunter 5 uplay screwed me over though and it wont show up in my library after I got to play it for the first time. still shows up on steam though...
It won't count as a Uplay game if it is the Steam version, it will register achievements and stuff with Uplay but won't show up in that client unless you click on the "installed games" tab. Unfortunately the Steam version is a nightmare to work with any of the big megamods or the generic patcher, it has to be modded individually. If you had a standalone copy you could install something like Wolves of Steel mod which fixes most of the problems and makes the game pretty damn good.
Sub interior looks too spartan. Needs more textures and that lived in look with cured ham and loaves of bread hanging from the bulkheads and crates of food shoved into every crevice just like in Das Boot.
you won't ever get a proper sim on a console, this is not because consoles are crap, it's because they don't use a keyboard, essential kit for any sim. This is why I (and many others I suspect) ignore consoles completely now.
John Doe Yes, but you watch U-571 the textures, rooms of the submarine, torpedos and others are the same of the movie (maybe my grammar is bad is bexause i'm italian and i just studying the english :D)
how did the frigate spot the sub? is the torpedo guided/self homing one? what is the purpose of cutting the sub engine off? what is the deep dive (after firing) for?
So... The crew of a German sub is speaking Russian without dying of carbon-monoxide poisoning while running the diesel engines at full power too far below the surface to draw air in from the surface... That's *very* realistic... Don't get me wrong, the game seems relatively impressive, but still... There's some work left till it's something I'd buy.
You know nothing about sub sims if you think SH5 is the best one. SH3 was the best. Even SH4 is better than Sh5. SH5 sux! Sure it looks good, and sure you can walk round the boat, but the mechanics of the gameplay suck.
I installed Silent Hunter 4 last night with patch 1.4 and that game is so much better than Silent hunter 5 because it has less bugs. Even though it came out in 2007, it runs perfectly fine on windows 10 for me anyway. But if you get Silent Hunter 4 do not get it on steam buy the CD version otherwise you cannot patch it.
Bugged, unfinished, with huge amount o missing features. Basicaly every thing, every detail and every aspect in this game suffers in some way. Suffers from unfinishing. Tons of mods (TWoS) make it barely playable, nothing more. Now there's a problem with vanilla install through Uplay. You cant choose german voices. And this is required by TWoS. This is very sad... it could be The Best Game in The World.
Shame the "german" sub is all in russian ????? ,and whats the japanese aircraft carrier doing flying the red ensign ,this game has not been slightly thought about
1)Sh5 is shitful of bugs...like literally unplayable and madenning 2)while it is the most beautiful indeed...the gameplay is kinda poor 3)do not try to use the hydrophone when surfaced with diesels at ahead flank:)) 4)10knots is way more fuel efficient then top speed 5)mod the hell out of it:)))
I played this game before 4 years ago but really I don't remember which number was silent hunter ( ? ) If this is new version I will playing it again 😘 If it's available in Iraq 😞
