Quick update: The Oakley Crossrange XL only comes with lifestyle temples and a lifestyle nosepad. You can see the full Crossrange update here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-53Zvcvb8h78.html
Finally, people who get it. I used to be really overweight. Thought it was the reason glasses wouldn’t fit, lost weight, and still couldn’t get any glasses that fit. Thanks 🙏🏽
I've been on a decade long quest to find sunglasses that would fit by big head and this is such a perfect representation of a lot of the frames I ended up getting! The Maui Jim Red Sands are perfect and I just got introduced to Serengeti's Tellaro frames. Now I have my two go to sets for a wayfarer and aviator style sunglass.
i have 62 Aviators, they don't fit to large head, the temple bends like shit and they press annoying line on your head which can be seen after short period of usage. 62 Avitors are for regular sized men and "standard" is for small head
Just the video WE wanted & Needed !! Absolute best would be Oakley Sliver/ XL with Unobtainium nose pad. Yes yes... there is Crossrange but it isn't Sliver. There is Mainlink too but not in XL or Asian Fit design.
I have a REALLY wide head. A 60 eye size is almost too small. I need at least a 62 or 64 eye size. I currently have a pair of Maui Jim World Tour in a 60 eye size. Love the wrap of the lenses. Polarized glass lenses from MJ are always fantastic. It also is a matte finish. Two issues I have with them is the nose pads don’t last very long if you have an oily face. They are also not replaceable. The second issue I have is that the temple hinges are super weak. Single barrel hinges. I am on my third replacement frame because one of the hinges broke. Great video guys. Definitely good information for when I go shopping for my next pair of shades
THANK YOU for this video! I'm looking for a pair of what I call "Dr. Johnny Fevers" -- Type of glasses Howard Hesseman wore on the old show WKRP In Cincinnati -- need them in prescription and definitely for a big head -- do they exist?
You guys are cool together and good enough to keep me watching the whole 15mins, not easy to do, congrats ! I have big head but dont care , i actually love it but sunglasses are complicated ;) Oakley Inmates i got , Maui Jim, H&M , all expensive , where could i get to sell them for the most money to buy another pair ?!
Hi!, Do you have any recommendation for prescription sunglass for Asian face? I like something simple, but with Asian face, adjustable nose pad and curved temple tip are must. So I typically ended up with Red Sands which I like, but not cheap (especially with prescription!!). Thank you,
Only rectangular shape for big head? I have a problem, I only like round glasses... I can't find good ones for men, but there is a lot for women that fits me.. Whyyyyyy 😭
Spy Czars look nice, they're big but they sit too low, similar to RayBan 3025 62mm so if you have a big forehead it might not look good. In my opinion Keanon Burnet XL fits better (it's slightly smaller than the Czar but still very good for big headed people like me!)
For sure Jacob! Click on the link below to explore frame options under 💲💯👇 www.sportrx.com/shopby/frames_for-male/product_type-sunglasses.html?p=2&price=0.00-100.00&show_full_attribute=1
Definitely worth it to me, I've had them for 5 years now and never had ANY issues. They're expensive no doubt, but when I find something that works perfect for me, I'll save up and get them. You won't be disappointed!
Sometimes I get ear pain after wearing some glasses like oakley holbrook, rayban wayfarers, but no on the red sands. Does that mean I've got s big head, or is it the weight?
Hey there Arjan, this is Graham from SportRx! Good question! There are a couple things to unpack here. The first is, have you checked out our SportRx Frame Width (SFW) video? Our in house sizing guide can give you a good idea of what will fit you going forward. I'll drop a link to that below. Second, is that each of these frames has a different size (SFW). The Holbrook has an SFW of 132 (men's medium or women's M/L). Depending on what eyesize of the Wayfarer you tried on, (there are a few) you could have been wearing anywhere from an SFW of 130 to 142. The Red Sands have an SFW of 138, but are much less rigid than these other frames and tend to fit more relaxed. To sum all this up, I'd recommend hitting our SFW guide to figure out your size (sounds like you're probably a large to XL), and you'll be ready to go. Good luck! I'm a little overweight now and I just bought the Cyrus's and they're perfect. But I remember when I was in high school I had to get prescription Randy Jackson glasses from Sears because they were certified wide head LOL
Thank you for the video. I just moved to the states recently so pardon the question but do I goto eye doctor for prescription, and then goto sportRX website?
Looking for stylish big head sunglasses with bifocal reader lenses in order to wear with contact lenses, which don't let me see the dash without mild magnification. Any help would be appreciated.
I tried the Oakley Flak 2.0 XL as recommended by you. They do not fit large face guys. They gap at the rope and doesn’t fit. Looking for a sport glasses that I can put progressive lenses in. I want to go to the beach and play baseball in!

In Puerto Rico there is not much love for big headed guys like me. When I was a teen I never had that problem since big glasses where in. But since a couple of years back, there been no big glasses and the companies that made them are gone(at least from PR). I'm so glad to have found this video. Do you know how long I've yearned for a pair of RB aviators and never been able to wear them because they are so small for my face?!?!? I thought they didn't come in my size. Hola from Puerto Rico and thanks for this awesome vid!
That's great! As for your particular prescription, that will depend. Please reach out to our opticians at 888-831-5817 and we can walk you through your options!
The think is for me I tried the Holbrook xl and I feel my problem is my cheeks and my face is 2 round ....I have servo xl and those work good with me...what do u recommend?
Hi Victor! It sounds like maybe something with adjustable nosepads might work better since they can lift the sunglasses off your face more. We recommend contacting one of our certified opticians for more recommendations: www.sportrx.com/contact
If you have a big head then seriously look into the vintage market... companies like Dunhill, Christian Dior, Alpina, Hilton, Cartier, RayBan, Persol, Cazal, Carrera, Playboy, Anything made by Optyl, etc. use to make almost every frame in 3 or more sizes. They aren't cheap but the technology that went into these top tier frames even back in the 70s and 80s was so advanced that they are even better than many frames made today and at least up to par. Deals can be had and there are still tons of NOS and brand new unworn frames available.
I have a sizing question. I have some Maui Jim's that are way too small (58 18 145). in looking up the Oakley prism they say an XL is 57 18. No idea how sizing works. HELP?
No worries TREE3po, we got you! Do you happen to know the model name of your MJ frames? The 58 number refers to the width of 1 lens and this number is usually what determines the size of the frame. However, sizing becomes a bit confusing when you consider the lens curvature. For example, a flat frame front (no wrap) with a 58 eye size will generally fit med to large. Whereas a curved or wraparound lens with a 58 eye size will have a much smaller fit. This is because more lens volume, and ultimately width, is needed as the lens wraps around the head of the wearer. That's why SportRx came up with the SportRx Frame Width. This measuring technique relies on overall width to properly determine the size of a frame. i've loved Oakley's Twoface but they don't let you buy replacement lenses anymore, much less mirrored lenses (my first ones were the blue iridium polarized prizms but that's been discontinued) so i've had to use aftermarkets which haven't been that durable. hard to find anything close to that style, but the Costa Ricon look like a contender for my new glasses so i'm going to order them. thanks!
Oakley Jaw Brakers 😍 are the only pair of glasses that fit my big fat face 😑 I really Liked the Seregenti Agustino ones, but not sure if they fit... Yall should compare the Jaw Brakers & Seregenti Agustinos
Need the pros help! I am a 15 year Eyepatch wearer and unfortunately an arm broke. I am torn between the Double Edge and the Smith Castaway..... Thoughts?
There are few that I want however I just don't want prescription lenses I want transition lenses so they can be dual function glasses and then glasses. What's your thoughts on those lenses for these frames?
Hi there! Little confused by your statement. You don't want prescription lenses, but would like non-Rx Transition lenses put in so they change from clear to tinted. Is that correct? It's certainly something we can do!
Can anyone tell me what shades Jonah Hill wore on the movie War Dogs ? They were black. Jonah wore them in the scene , coming up the escalator , at airport.
Love my crossrange xl in prizm black! Only gripe I could think of is the lifestyle temples are too slippery for me to wear up on my forehead when not using the glasses. I use the sport temples exclusively to keep them from falling off while I have my glasses pushed up. (: worth every penny!!!! Great videos guys!
Hi there! We would recommend the Oakley Double Edge or the Costa Fisch. You can always contact one of our certified opticians for more recommendations: www.sportrx.com/contact
Hi guys! Loved the video. Just for comparison sake, how big are you guys? I’m 6’4” and 250 pounds. A lot of frames look like I took them from my little brother! :). What are some ways to keep the cost down on Rx frames and lenses? Thanks
I have a high prescription and was trying to get the double edge. I have been denied. I need help since I am a big head. Anyone have any recommendations?
Love your coverage for big melon glasses but why don't you give out the actually width measurement for the glasses from end to end rather then just the lens width since the nose bridge width factors into the overall width?
Hey Gene! Great question. Since we had so many frames to cover in the video we couldn't dive into each frames specific measurements. However, many of the frames featured in the video have individual review videos. In those videos, we go over all the measurements and dive deeper into each frames features. Was there a specific frame you were interested in getting the measurements for?
OKAY! Thanks! Which are the biggest width and height of these? The SPY Tron 2 are what I have and have been the biggest I had found without seriously investigating. TIA!
Love the Double Edge glasses I even stopped the video right there and went to the Oakley website to buy them immediately. But they don't have XL in any of the models in this video. WTF? Having a big head comes naturally if your a big guy 6'+ so this has always been a problem my entire life. Finally Oakley has XL frames, only to get kicked in the balls too. Car makers cater to the 5' 11" and smaller people too. Fuck these companies!
I love the Ray ban avitors I got the 62 mm and the temple length STULL isn't long enough it curves right before it rears my ear so the line isnt "straight"
You can check these asian fit sunglasses out: www.sportrx.com/shopby/asian_fit-yes/frames_for-male/product_type-sunglasses.html Thanks for reaching out!
Hey Barry! The Boss is also another great option if you have a bigger head. The Titan is considered more of an M-L fit. Thanks for commenting and watching the video :)
Hi Marco! The Ray-Ban RB3025 Aviator in 62 eyesize and the New Wayfarer RB2132 in 58 eyesize are the two closest to 6 inches from temple to temple. They both measure just shy of 6 inches (Aviator is about 5.75" and the New Wayfarer is about 5.8"). I hope that helps!
Funny enough I bought the Maui Jim's a week before seeing this video. I'd love to see a video on sunglasses you'd recommend to convert to eyeglasses. I find that the selection for large eyeglasses 58+ are almost nonexistent and if they are they are not stylish.
It's so tough to find brands that make XL eyeglass frames! Check out Spy - they are one of our favorites because they love to fill the void of so few XL frames out there. Check them out and call us with any questions! 888-831-5817
I'm 6'8" and looking for the best big fit do it all lifestyle. Can't decide between Costa Rincon xl or Oakley Sliver XL. Like the idea of glass in Costa for less scratches etc. Pros or cons of each? What do you think? Thanks
Hi there! Both sunglasses are awesome! Another benefit of glass is greater optical clarity over a polycarbonate lens. Oakley lenses are made from plutonite, a high-grade polycarbonate that is highly impact resistant and lightweight, unlike glass. If you are using your sunglasses for any physical activities we typically recommend a polycarbonate lens. If you would like more recommendations you can always contact one of our certified opticians: www.sportrx.com/contact
Costa Rincon are very nice. Very similar to oakley mainlink xl. Both I feel should be a little "taller" Oakley double edge are great for a big head. Good lens height. I'm new to the sunglasses game. I want to try on Costa Permits. Best of luck in your search.
I used to be a big guy and then i lost weight and i still had issues finding sunglasses! I realized i have a heart shaped face and while the bottom of my face is slimmer, my temples are still wide apart! Finally figured out how to shop for sunglasses that fit properly after years of trial and error.
Hey Gede! We will definitely speak with our video guys and try to make that happen. For now, we'd be happy to recommend some great L-XL fishing sunglass options. Was there a specific style you preferred?
