Well, I’m back to Eugene, 3 days crabbing off a dock and I put up 42 crabs..... not bad for my first adventure off the docks in Garibaldi I’m addicted to crabbing🤣🤣🤣
If you aren't plotting on the GPS or even if you are it is a big help to get a buoy light. They run off batteries and the light is elevated on a short pole with a buoy on the other end and a weight to make it float upright on the bottom of the pole that goes through the foam buoy. We used them for night fishing to mark the end of the net while gillnetting years ago. With the new LED waterproof lights they will run much longer and be much brighter. But even then with a couple of 'D" cells they would run for several nights. A good spotlight on your boat is great for night work and spotting floating debris as well as finding the launch ramp and the pot buoys. It will help to have lighted buoys to keep others from running over them and or you as well. Night time is really fun time when you foul the line in your prop!!
I have learn so much about crabbing and fishing and the differences between reels and the equipment you should have to do what u do, u explain your craft very well, I can’t wait to go crabbing though!!
I was just eating the crab I caught when I got notified of your new video 🤗 I just went to Garibaldi Tuesday the 24th and caught 2 in the first hour. Then there was nothing! Like no little ones or anything for anyone for 5hrs!! I called it a day ☹️ gotta get out in a boat sometime!
I've never been out on a boat crabbing. At night in Charleston oregon docks the crabbing is insane takes 5 mins and my crab ring would be full almost can't left it off the bottom. It's crazy you got to try it sometime.
I love night crabbing. Just a heads up. The crab are plentiful in Florence. My friend and I plus the kids got 42 last weekend 11-28-20. Going again this weekend, only about 2ft exchange from low to high. It should be good if you need more crabbing videos.
That's cool that you can crab at night in Oregon. In Texas, you can't do that. Quote from their website "May only remove crab traps from the water or remove crabs from crab traps during the period from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset."
I remember standing on the dock wondering where I was hearing running water then looking down and seeing my boat start to fill cause I forgot to put the plug in...fastest I’ve ever gotten my fat arse into the boat 🙄🙄
Interesting. Night-time crabbing from a boat is apparently legal in Oregon, but illegal across the river in Washington. Oregon: Bays, beaches, estuaries, tide pools, piers and jetties are open for crabbing all year, 24 hours per day. Washington: No fisher may set, or pull shellfish gear from a vessel, in Marine Areas 1-13 (entire Pacific coast and Puget Sound), from one hour after official sunset to one hour before official sunrise.
I'm going to cry. Im in Florida and spent 4 hours trying to catch blue crab and I only caught 1. We have 5 in the family and I told them never to count on me to feed them crabbing
1st, I'm not sorry for the thumbs down. Your technique is alright but not without criticisms. I can't believe that you've touched live or unbound crab in Petersburg Alaska (crab alley) If ya did this kind of handling there, it wasn't for very long. Yanking them out of the traps and ripping there legs off? There're to be returned to the water undamaged as much as possible. What you did is unacceptable and an unsustainable practice. This video is NOT how it's done correctly... Ya wanna learn the correct way, hire a guide on the Oregon coast. All replies welcome.
Your limit is way to high. That’s not your fault but, really 33 crabs. I live in Canada and we can have 4 each your limits are way to high. Let’s just catch everything.
Everyone should stop watching this. Huge over harvest even though the limit permits. Who needs 12 crabs? How about take what you need for dinner. Maybe a couple extra. I think this is over harvest.
