Right on man!! I just started trolling this year... with flashers and dogers etc (and have done decent on some days... lol) but i think ill like the more subtle spoon at times and maybe even from shore too?? Idk
The mouse tail trailer is brilliant. Thanks for the knowledge. That was my go to shorebait for stockers at Barney Schwartz. If you're ever at Naci I yak troll for whites, spotteds and crappie quite frequently. I make Greenland paddles, they're actually quite good for trolling. Thanks for the posts.
I'm up in NorCal and tried your technique from a previous videos trolling with a mouse tail off a crankbait and did pretty well. Then tried a Panther Martin as a trailer off a square bill and did really well during the Spring when the trout were up higher. Look forward to experimenting more this season with different combos to get the lures to different depths.
Thank you for those excellent tips! I'm a Kastmaster guy for the most part however, when there's a hatch going on, my Kastmasters are useless! I've seen kids use a Golden Phoebe with a 12 inch leader off the back of it, with a wooly booger tied on. They were absolutely slaying trout with that set up!
I’m a kastmaster guy from my fishing trips in the past but I’ll mess around with your suggestions too. I’m planning a trip with the guy that runs the bait store at Cachuma, Henry. He was in one of my Cachuma videos. We’re going to go off a pontoon
How do I rig those? I’m new to trolling. Can i just cast out the back of the boat and troll or do l need something else to get them down to depth? Thank you 🙏
Just let out some line and each lure will find its depth. Depending on the time of year, might need lead core to get deeper but in the cooler months it’s usually not needed at least on the west coast in my experience. The more line you let out usually the deeper the lures will dive. I usually start with 50ft
I’m gonna have to try trolling with a crank bait and rooster tail maybe tied onto that, thinking outside the box now.. I’ve been toying with the idea of mimicking live bait with a soft plastic minnow for trolling but I need to figure out how I’m gonna rig that definitely gonna start using a dipsy divers while trolling with my rigs but I’m a newbie targeting browns and I’m always trying to think out of the box.
Maybe try a rapala scatter rap with the back hook removed and add a swivel and add a swim bait a foot or so behind that, would be killer. Good luck on those browns those guys are a blast.
it's funny we use the same stuff, I love using my jerk baits, crank baits and micetail behind a diver. 1-2 inch crankbaits my top lure for all lakes kills it every time.
Great video buddy! I've used Lindy River Rockers and Hot N Tots almost religiously for trolling but I'm gonna have to use that mousetail a try I think that will be a killer especially in the Sierras. I can't wait till ice out!
