Thanks to you and Michael White I already tried out the plugins of the FX2 Collection and yes, imo they sound awesome, really smooth and very very pleasant in a way of their own. The saturation stages are great and break up nicely, the action of the comps are great and all their plugins have special vintage tones to them. Same for their filters. It's a fantastic addition to other vintage emulation plugins and not just a generic repetition. They embed the audio and not just sit on top unnaturally or feeling forced. I'm very excited about them and this is another reason for me to keep far far away from forums in the future. Even more than I'm already doing :) Thanks David. Cheers

Excerpt from the Arturia manual on the Trident A pre: The Trident A Range achieved a near-mythic status, despite only 13 consoles ever built. Particularly noted and praised by the industry were its fantastic preamps and the unusual and colorful EQ. A unique characteristic was a series of three high pass filters at -18 dB per octave and three low pass filters at -12 dB per octave arranged at the ends of the EQ section. The switches to those filters could be pushed in simultaneously, offering distinct filter cut combinations with unusual curves. The rest of the EQ section allows four frequencies at any one time, with switchable but fixed values. Low Shelf: 50, 80, 100 or 150 Hz; Low-Mid Bell: 250, 500, 1k or 2k Hz; High-Mid Bell: 3k, 5k,7k or 9k Hz; High Shelf: 8k, 10k, 12k or 15k Hz. In those days, there were no sweepable frequencies and Q controls, but that was one of the charms of these consoles, coupled with the peculiar sound that was in part the result of the odd peaks and quite heavy phase-shift and coloration that came from the design of the EQ. Malcolm Toft even referred to the EQ as "kind of a cross between a Pultec and a Neve module".

I actually got tired of trying to look for that "Super special /majestic plugin" I just use the Softube Tube delay plugin for saturation , Klanghelm MJUC, the simple fabfilter Pro Q2, the versatile Boz digital manic compressor , and my trusty PSP Classic Q and with those I can get what im looking for. Im minimazing my plugins options cuz I noticed I was getting too technical and losing focus on the songs after comparing some mixes I did like 7 years ago using a tascam 2488 against my actual DAW and endless plugin list. Tascam was sounding 10 times better and it was just because back then I wasn't been too technical ...so going back to square 1.

MJUC is a beast. I took that over the UAD Fairchild. If you finesse it, you can get soo dangerously close. PLUS, MJUC gives you two other compressor styles within that plugin.

@@futuristiccavemanofficial Now that you say that I remember one time I was dialing the MJUC mk3 compressor on a drum bus , I was like , damn it almost sounds like the SSL G bus comp. So went to the site cuz I wanted to see what it says there'd while I was reading mk3 section where I noticed it says " This results in a attack accentuating, punchy compression, surprisingly closer to a British G type bus comp than to a 670." I was like ...Ahhh I knew it.

Great video man! I just got these preamps as a "next best thing" to the new SSL2+ interface (needed more inputs). I'd love to see a video comparing these soft preamps to the real analog preamps on the SSL

Can't really do a comparison with soft pres vs hardware, when you record material thru a pre, any pre, you have the transient response of that pre on the material, anything you add later is just color and/freq response but you can't get rid of what the given pre you recorded thru stamped on the material.

Thx for such much great reviews & tricks and tips, really appreciate it so much, your one of my fav channels. I want to add one thing what doesn't get much attention. A common thing with analog emulation is (also analog gear), that plugins adding noise, to get the sounds more on the top and make the impresson to be more present. What can be a good thing. Just many plugins adding the noise not just on the processed part, the noise will run over the whole track when there is no attached sound. Examples: - Waves Plugins (if analog modus is on); - Arturia Preamps (noise turn on at first sound and wil run over the whole track); no noise at the Arturia Compressor Bundle

V76 is the best on the most vocals. One thing I've mentioned, David, You've used eq on V76 differently than other pre's. There's only two bands instead of four. ;) Hope this one was knowingly.)) 👍 And as always, great review! Love it! 😍

Man, such drive on the drums in the beginning of the video, haha, made me stay and watch the whole video... No, I'm lying, I'd watch it anyway because I'm about to get the AudioFuse Studio, and I was looking for more information on the included plugins. Of course Arturia will brag with those just as much as the Universal Audio is praising their own, but since the AudioFuse really has all the specs I'd need (many of which are even better than the ones on Apollo interfaces), I wanted to hear an independent opinion like yours here. This is the second video of yours I'm watching (the other one on compressors..) and ... I don't know, you're totally sold on these, isn't there absolutely anything that's not superb with Arturia stuff? Thanks!

I own both of UAD's and Arturia's versions, and the only thing that Arturia wins is on the extra settings.. I don't mean that Arturia's are bad, but they don't sound the same as UAD's. Peace!

And at least for me, the Unison feature is pure gold. Not just that the impedance physically changes, you have almost no issue with latency anymore. I still use other mic pre plugins, like the 1073 by Waves and other, but it's a little bit like comparing apples and oranges. Nonetheless good work Arturia.

Regarding Neve 1073 and V76, I have compared in detail against Slate Digital's FG 73, FG- N , FG- 76. Slate is definitely ahead. You wont find EQ saturation in Arturia. Plus you get dozen of analog goodness with Slate Digital in same price. Slate is on par/better than UAD. All others are secondly. No fanboism, but after testing and hearing with calibration and level match. @MixbusTV, for 24.99$ a month (cancel anytime), i request you to try Slate Digital just once.

a lot of people confuse aliasing with the normal behavior of distortion, having little information is worse than having none. Arturia makes great stuff

02:18 I can't help myself, but I hear no difference between type1 and 2, neither on my headphones nor my speakers. Does this really have any effect in a mix worth spending time with? You can clearly hear a big difference but I generally find it very hard to hear. Also what is called the "coloration" between all this types of EQs. I mean, I do hear the differences when you compare them like in this video one next to the other directly and with bypass in between, so it's not my setup or my ears I think. Expecially on the vocals and isolated tracks (the v76 sounds very smooth on the vocals). I can hear it even better when you finger-point out the differences and the changes the effects do, but I wouldn't be able to identify it myself that clearly. I'm just wondering: can you really recognize the effects on the drum loop in the beginning, when its in a song or mix and is it so much different than a stock-EQ that it's worth spending time and money on (just asking, I'm obviously not a pro). You have great videos btw, I learn a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I've got the Burnley 73 plugin and cos it's got it's own EQ I thought I'd use that, big mistake, it absolutely ruins the sound, once I started using my regular EQ it sounded great

I hear from several pros, the best is real analog gear, then comes Acustica, then the rest. As a enthusiastic amateur, I can just second that. Those plugins are above the rest soundwise, cause they use a special technique. I have no idea why they are not more famous

I’m starting to think I’m going deaf. I’ve just spent about 2 hours listening to all these plugins in my studio with drums going through these pres. now they do change the sound if you drive them and of course you can change the Eq. But I can’t get my head around the big excitement with this software. Just so subtle the effect is easily achieved with any EQ - and overdrive software I’m totally confused with the amount of excitement in this subject.

They are channel strips. Spread them on a 50 tracks mix then bypass. Is the cumulative effect

MixbusTv well I could indeed try loading 50 of these one for every track. But in the context of this video your self and a handful of people appear to be very enthusiastic about the results of this pre amp software but I simply can’t hear it. I’ve just spent a further few hours loading them on to some other stuff but for the life of me when doing a blind test I can’t tell if they are off or on.

X Y All these plugins have achieved for me is to make me think I’m going deff. I tried mastering a whole track through them and can’t tell in a blind test. I’ve got plenty of equipment outboard and software and I can tell subtle difference in sound on my jbl monitors and studio head phones - so if your telling me I need some mega genlecs or something to hear the benefits then that does not make much sense as these plugins are from an era when most people’s speakers where pretty terrible non of this makes any sense unless your on a crusade to believe in these things I’ve got bored now and binned them - but cheers for the advice

@@julianhigginson5946 Truth is...other than a workflow enhancer or inspiration builder you are mainly buying a cartoon. Trust me...I love plug ins but they don't help much. I do love the wave CLA mixhub because it helps mix old school. I hate waves as a company though....so...bx sell TMT as a thing but it's basically Ms processing. IK Tapes is another story however...it really sounds great. Try it.

@@rdean150 Youre the one that should be embarrased. He;s basically saying its uad expensive. As in if you buy these plugins u might as well buy the uad ones cause the arturia ones are expensive. and its not really a preamp if u have the plugin in pro tools. uad has console which is pre-fader processing before the DAW so for these uad expensive arturia plugins ill rather buy the uad plugins which are around the same price range

@@onlinehustle9764 Well the list price on the website is 300 for the full bundle of all 3 Arturia preamps. From UAD, the Trident is 250 and both the 1073 and 1176 plugins from UAD are listed as 300 each. So 850 (UAD) vs 300 (Arturia) for the software alone. But, as I'm sure we all know, you cannot just run a UAD plugin on your computer - they ONLY work if you also have purchased one of their hardware DSP processors, which range from 500 to a couple thousand dollars. So no, there is literally a lot more than a $50 difference. But more to the point, this video really has nothing to do with UAD. It's just a video demonstrating how good these ARTURIA plugins are.
