Short story, David: I knew Arturia makes synthies but I had no clue they made FX, too. I purchased the comps when they came out, just because they included two devices I actually own: the dbx and Sta. So I was curious and blimey! they blew me away. I thought I was biased somehow by the pretty GUI. I then bought the preamp...with the same result. Now I watched your video and thankgod you came to the same conclusion. You got a new subscriber ;-) And if you allow me a quick tip: Try the STA in side detection-mode on your OHs to level the cymbals. Pure magic! :-P

It's a beautiful thing to experience your music come alive with that "Next level hardware sound" because of a plug in, and without question Arturia is up there making it happen with the very best of them. I put them up next to UAD Chandler Limited, Tube Tech, Pultec, Sonnox, Massenburg, Soft tube, Klanghelm, Sound Toys, Fabfilter, and Waves Abbey Road and Renaissance stuff. As a side note, Over at Plug in alliance, Brainworx has some heavy hitters like that sleeper Neve 2098 EQ (Bob Horn has a real one in his mixing desk), along with the Purple audio Mc77 compressor. The vibe on those plugs blew me away. THE FLAVOR!! That Neve changed the way I think about EQ's and got me looking closer at GML stuff to see what I've missed. Arturia did an AMAZING job on the 1176 and the Sta level and the Trident A range is one of my favs as well. I LOVE GREAT PLUG INS!!!

Man, the STA-Level is so smooooth. I never had the opportunity to work with a real one, (they’re pretty rare), but I’d be really happy using this plug on vocals, with or without it being second in a serial compression setup and using the 1176 first to catch the faster transients... in this demo, it seemed like the STA-Level was doing just fine with that all on its own.

I didn't expected the fx bundle to sound so good. Of course I added them to my arsenal. If I'd know them earlier I would have stopped buying other vintage plugins. Arturia is all you need for your vintage sound. They are praised by all reviewers.

on the tube unit the output gain probably drives transformer-style saturation while the input does tube-saturation in addition to the vari-mu-compression... so to get both you'd need to gain-stage after this plugin

I came back to check this video. I think these packs may be the best plugins on the market right now. Absolutely the STA-Level may be the best compressor for vocals, period. The combination between 1176 and STA is incredible.

The Waves ones are perfectly fine, as the IKM, as the UAD, ... I'm sure you can create great mixes with all of them and the Arturia are more expensive. (I like Arturia)

Mmm...Arturia released the worst Hammond B3 emulation I've heard in a long time, and then this! New staff? They sound VERY good indeed. I can hear the qualities I'm used to from the hardware. In fact, that DBX sounds better than the hardware! The problem is I don't need any more plugins! :-) Thanks for the review. I'm happy to have found a RU-vid broadcaster with great ears, who know's his stuff. You have earned a place in my 'watch again' list!

If you mean Positive Grid, I believe they are highly underrated and totally unknown for what they can do. PG really needs to do better marketing and advertising for those

Did you try them on parallel compression ? A have the DBX 160 emulation of waves but this is the best i have heard so far, great video !

I have both, the waves 160 and the arturia 165 (with the bundle). They are very complementary. The arturia compressors are real go to. They are just incredible but the waves 160 is very good also, way better than the Uad 160 I think

What sets this one apart from Slate Digital ones, as they have three of them and they're well regarded by lots of big names. I know there are plenty more controls, but what about the sound is there that is more?

I love arturia compressors they're great. Their Diode 609 is one of my favs but the DBX and Sta are great too. Sta is a one trick pony, hardware is the same, big squeeze on vocals and bass. That's about it. But what a trick

Have no idea, but i"m not sure why would you want to "track" with a plugin, you can't track with a plugin, it's the exact same as putting it after.

Is the TUBE-STA a vari mu or an opto compressor?

it can be considered a mu, the tubes do the GR, in an opto the opto cell (which is not present in the STA) is doing the GR
