Just bought a 99s in 22 along with a 3x9-40 scope as a grab and shoot and I was blown away by it’s accuracy, at 30 yards it was putting pellet through pellet, no twang and there was no need to mess on with the trigger as it was absolutely fine for me straight out of the box. It shoulders perfectly for me at 6ft 2inches tall and the build quality is what you’d expect from Weihrauch, outstanding.

You're paying the same prices for sub-12 ft/lb and FAC on the continent where you need no licence. Air rifles not worth it in the UK. Demeaning waste of money and time, £350 for a sub12ft/lb hunting springer in the UK and FAC available for 250 EURO abroad with no license requirements. It takes no special skill to aim your low powered rifle upward and downward to achieve great accuracy at longer ranges just because your limited in power. Why people make mention of a UK 12ft?lb limit as some set standard is beyond me. UK is not the best place to pursue a weapons hobby anyway, when there are far easier options available.

I was pleasantly surprised to find my HW 99s the featured best springer. I bought it on a whim, because I thought it cheap for a Wierauch. I love it, ive even modified it with a faux moderator to eliminate barrel flip. Pellet on pellet with a budget hawke scope and its not too heavy. I Also have HW100 KT pcp and HW 97 underlever. If I ever need to sell any of these, my springer 99s wouldn't fetch enough cash to make a difference. It will be like an old friend.

Hello My friend, With great respect, I agree with everything you've said about the Weihrauch HW99s. I just have a keen interest in air rifles and don't think I have the back up of knowledge as I think you have. Like you say, at this price point, this is a fabulous air rifle. It's nice and lightweight, easy to carry, manage and handle. It has a quality trigger and barrel, scope mount locating holes, beautiful blueing and fantastic manufacturing build quality. Just a little bit of practice with artillary hold and its job done! Thank you and best wishes.

Newbie here. Please be patient. I would like to know, are lever action springer air rifles available and are they any good? I say lever as in a .22lr lever action, but in springer air form. Herd co2s are bad, and PCP seems expensive and scuba tanks etc. is problematic. Ideally I would like a 20lb .22 western style lever, springer air rifle that is around $200, not some high end competition model. Does this even exist? Multi round would be a plus but not a requirement. Also want it to last 100 years, so good quality or easy parts availability. Yes a unicorn air rifle, does it exist, and by who? Thank You.

I am unable to find a reference to the HW99S here in the colonies, not even on Weihrauch's website. Also, we can't have a silenced springer here, but we can have an FAC rifle with no license. For a best value springer over here I would (and did!) go with the HW95 Luxus.

I don't think the HW99 is available in the US. I know the Beeman R9 is essentially the HW95, the R8 the HW50 and the R7 the HW30. You could always have a vacation in Europe and take one back as a souvenir. I'm a HW95 fan, too - have a .177 and a .22. Great rifle and easy to strip, fettle and tune. Not too much more expensive than the 99 and a better fit if you're tall with long arms as I am.

@mattsmedley.onehandedgamin9029
In my youth , early 90s , I was lucky enough to own a BSA superstar.22. Might have been heavy & long (well I thought it was) yet I enjoyed the acuity & power of the rifles back then. Now in my late 40s I've just joined a rifle club, picked up a PCP and starting to shoot once again.

@@jimmynich4791 I've just come back in from the rifle range. Been shooting a Ruger 10/22 rim-fire, guaranteed to put a smile on. The PCP I have at the moment is only an entry-level bullpup by Kral arms, I will be upgrading to something nicer in the year. Once I find the right PCP, get an FAC license and up its potential I don't think it'll feel dead. (Can you tell I'm in this for the long haul)👍

What puts me off of Weihrauch guns is the automatic safety switch that engages every time you cock it. That’s why BSA got my money instead
@sid35gb
@sid35gb 11 месяцев назад
If you struggle with an automatic safety that indicates that you have room to improve your shooting massively. Having a consistent shot cycle increases accuracy because learning to shoot subconsciously is key. Subconscious actions you do every day for example reaching for a door handle to open it is a subconscious action, how often do you miss the handle? Changing gears while driving a car is another example. You can train yourself to shoot faster and more accurately and disengage a safety automatically. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what can be done by tweaking how you think about things.

Hey, saying hello from across the pond. Best value? I bought a (Daisy) Winchester 1100S in .177, made in China for under $70 US dollars. After a tune and de-twanging the spring, with open sights I can hit golf balls at 40 yards. Checking with a bore scope the rifling was beyond belief for a cheap Chinese rifle. Using Crosman 10.5 grain pellets (no hollow point) the speed is a consistent 835fps. It has very nice open sights (I do not like fiberoptic sights). The front sight is a straight blade. The rear sight has a numbered elevation knob, so adjustment can be made quickly say from 25 yards out to 75 yards.
@Wolverine7441
@Wolverine7441 3 года назад
Detwanging the spring can you tell what that means I also bought this gun it's hit or miss for me shooting a 3 inch metal target at 30 yards I miss alot
@handygent45
@handygent45 3 года назад
@@Wolverine7441 The "twang" comes from the spring and piston slop. Obviously you have to take the rifle apart, using a spring compressor. I added nylon washers on both ends of the spring, less than 1/8 inch thick and same diameter of the spring. Otherwise if the nylon washers are too thick you won't be able to engage the shear. Also added two nylon buttons on the piston, towards the end. Two holes have to be drilled into the piston housing and the buttons have to be sized so that the piston fits snug but not tight in the piston tube. As for accuracy the end of the barrel needs to be re-crowned.
