Great video as always, I'm relatively new to air guns so really enjoy hearing about the old and the new. Also great having an industry insider on the show makes it very unique with regards to the info that's revealed. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Is the Hw 95 powerful enough for 22 cal or should I go with 177 Weihrauch Hw95 DEluxe? Which is the best edition of that rifle? I want to get the best break barel (max 400euro) I would like 22 better for hunting but this doesn't sound as powerful as Gamo, which I had seen are super rifles on 22 cal. I would really appriciate any help. Thanks in advance
Just got myself a Hw95 in .22, Ordered a TBT Kit and took the Rifle apart. Cleaned the factory grease and waiting till the Parts arrive. Very smooth Shooter
I agree defo best break barrel ever made, superb hunting tool built to last great acuracy. Shoots perfect with a welsh willy drop in kit fitted. Cant fault it its all the gun u will ever need!
I could be wrong, but I think the 85 was bought in or taken over from BSF. This is the best all round airgun channel. I love the sheer variety of the kit you review and the complete honesty, even about stuff you both sell, import or manufacture.
makes sense because my local rfd has now said that any airarms I buy now are fully covered by them in that any problems they have, they are now been trained by airarms to fix in house
My 95 my Bessy. Got Deleon spring guide in mine hawk airmax 30 sf scope use a Chinese make of pellet its a flawless combo. I don't shoot much but needed a cheap gun to play with anytime I want and it does it. I used to be big into my guns but soon as I did cattys so decided the HW would do me. Ive had all the best guns out and hw95 is one of them. My trigger set to hair line and just love the trigger as can rest finger tip on and follow through is easily done. Just hits every single time.
Lloyd, I have a short stroked (Tinbum) with a VMach kit HW80 from 1983 with a whisperer silencer and can say with honesty that these old silencers do work- and very well. One strange thing is that if the silencer is unscrewed leaving on the adapter and then fired the rifle will sound a very loud crack. Remove the adapter and the crack on discharge disappears. I do agree that HW silencers are probably the very best and will mute the crack on a pcp to a quiet phut!
Super show lads , and a great format ... really look forward too these shows .. only complaint is they dont last long enough , I think at LEAST 25mins per episode ...
we are at 20 minutes due to some technical reason that I have forgotten, but im amazed that we already get away with such long segments and more people do not leave the room earlier. I think we have a 25 minute one already and certainly a long one coming up. But its all time, our next guest left his home at 5 pm and got home at midnight -its a lot to ask
TONY BELAS I agree tony , its just that im clutching at straws .. a night consisting of A. Corrie B. Emerdale C. Corrie ( yes I believe there are 2 episodes some nights ) D. ( and the most "god aweful " programme too grace our sets ) LOVE ISLAND E. Eastenders ... Is just Too much for a man too take You REALLY do need a damn good airgun review to watch , then ( and only then ) off too bed satisfied ...
I took my BSA lightning GRT XL se back and bought the Hw95k only had it a week and bagged me a rabbit and a pheasant which were delicious, even my misses now comes hunting with me. One think I don't like about it is the length of that silencer, so ime ime on the hunt for one half the length.
Just purchased an HW95K and wow what a gun, it’s light years ahead of anything else (springer) I’ve ever shot. Just can’t believe how nice it is to shoot and how accurate too. Thanks for the review and keep up the great work, cheers lads. P.S. I will definitely be going for the V-Mach tuning kit.
@@garethh6962 I'm in that group on FB and love these guys and the videos they put out. What's your name? We can discuss this in the group? I'm pretty active in that group..
I have a HW57 and I really think they are under rated, the pop up breach is very safe I mean you can't really have an accidental breach closure but you can forget to close it and deafen yourself. All in all its a really good rifle
Its my least favourite Weihrauch . They could have made a lightweight Hw97 but they cut corners with the plastic pop up breach . Im sure its still a decent gun but it could have been so much better...
I’m hoping for a recoilless springer from Air Arms , information on Sterling T16 is not forthcoming , they’ve gone off the radar so I’ve bought a Diana 56 TH recoilless and I must say it is an awesome rifle even though it is quite heavy, great for bench rest though, Sterling is off my list now.
Love the show I have a hw99 I use for hunting lovely light rifle to carry around and very accurate especially after tony at sandwell field sports has done his magic. What I would like to know is when you're going to do the review on the BSA defiant would like to hear your views on it as I quite fancy one. Keep up the good work 👍
mick Hunt: I'd love to have a go of the Defiant too as I love bullpups for their compact size and great handling. Only thing that puts me off the Defiant so far is its reg's set to 110BAR, whereas the near-identical-shaped & same price FX Wildcat's is set to 65BAR, which will give you more shots per charge.
mick Hunt They have the BSA Defiant in up " Brierley Guns " I dont normally like the full on bullpup style , but handling this particular one ( grey laminate ) was really really nice , got a bit of weight too it ( laminate stocks do ) felt good too shoulder , and looks ( although a matter of taste ) are very nice , I asked the price , and they do them £100+ cheaper then general retail ..as with the brocock bantam sniper HR which WITH the carbon buddy bottle was well over £100 cheaper ( think I paid £795 ) ..its no review ...but its the best I could muster ... ENJOY choosing ..
Cheers mark I really like the look of the grey laminate but I want it for hunting and would be scared of scratching it so It would have to be the soft touch for me.torn between the BSA and the FX for the price but I am a BSA man I love all my other BSA rifles from my MK1 meteor and Mk6 air sporter springers and my ultra se and scorpion so I think it'll have to be the defiant
Well the Defiant also has the slight bonus of taking standard BSA mags. The Wildcat mags require the pellets seating with a fingertip. Let us know what you think. :)
mick Hunt Mick , ive heard ( I think it was in one of the " hot air " episodes ) that the soft touch damages easily , but I guess you've already sussed all the ins and outs ... BSA man meself , got a 1974 mercury me old man bought me ( in 1974 ) used it for hunting way back then , more of a target guy now though , also have in my collection BSA R10 .22 in walnut ( damn pity its in a R/H stock , but I bought it off me son too fund a new shotgun ) and im a "leftie" ..got a R10 in .177 ( leaf tree camo ) and a goldstar se .177 .. so you could guess im a BSA guy anawl ... although I have other makes ..
Also keep in mind the composition of air rifle moderators vs. Firearms suppressors. The moderators are of (thermo)plastic composition (at least the ones I've seen are), while the suppressors are ALL made of steel, titanium, aluminum alloy, etc. If you interchange the "plastic" ones to a firearm, especially one with really serious gas pressures, such as, say, a .22-250 on up, you're going to witness a stupendous explosion at the end of your barrel once you "drop the hammer", as it were. Those gasses are waaay too powerful for plastic to contain and you'll see all kinds of deconstruction happen. Safest thing is not to ever get into the idea of interchangement. And also remember the exorbitant cost of firearms suppressors as well vs. well built air arm moderators. One suppressor can easily pay for a VERY good air arm (with ALL the "trimmings"). I'm talkin' about one capable of 300++ yds/meters high velocity, serious ft./lbs. energy, pinpoint precision accuracy, etc. vs. moderator costs at < £200-£300 at best which are quieter than suppressors, easily.
what the fuck are you talking about? noone is going to use an airgun mod on a firearm. and forget 22-250 or up, more like any centrefire and up. Also, newsflash moderator and suppressor is the same thing. mine (308, 223) cost between 350-400. hardly enough for a VERY good air arm with all the 'trimmings'
That silencer supressor by the germans was recommended to me by T.R. Robb, and he was right. And a few people have tried to improve on it by changing the internal set up, but failed. Very good recommendation Lloyd
Worst one they do is the 57, 97s are best underleaver, best break barrel is this 95, mine has a reflex moderator, 15ft/lb very very accurate using FTTs 14.6 grain.
Hi Lloyd, I may have missed it in the conversation but could you please advise which pellet or pellets the 95 likes best? I have my pcp’s but still enjoy a walk round the fields with my springer as it takes me back to my youth when I shot with my webley tracker, which I still have and still shoots straight and true. Great videos by the way I really enjoy them.
No anti bear trap on a gun without a bear trap well spotted And how dare you say anything bad about a old meteor. Great video great gun. Keep it up try saying something nice about British guns. There nothing wrong with being a patriot and proud of it Look forward to more videos cheers
i still have my hw 95k from around 1990 it has a barrel weight on the end that resembles a small silencer and i have to say my rifle isnt any louder than the ones with a silencer on, its a keeper for sure and very light and reliable. one thing that does annoy me a little is when rifles are refered to as full power when in fact they are sent out around 10ftlbs and usually if the buyer wanted 11 ftlbs have extra messing around to get the power up to 11ftlbs..if they are being described as full power then they should be at least 11.
I remember the older version with the muzzle weight . Side by side you could tell a small difference but from in front ( Safely) it's a lot more noticeable. Hw95's are coming in at about 11-11.25 at the moment but yes I agree, Under 11 is poor quality control.
You need to debure the cylinder as HW dont do so at factory or u damage ure piston seal straight up pulling it out. But it alright tho mine is it got damaged but didnt need a new one.
Cant really see how you can say the 95 REPLACED the 80 as the hunters choice of break barrel unless you want a lighter sub 12 rifle because you live in the draconian, overly oppressive nazi state of the UK (as i am), as if power limits were no issue the 80 with its 30mm piston and long stroke can easily put out 19ft.lbs+ and a fair bit more with a little bit of trial and error fettling i.e, gliding, transfer port mods etc... the 95s an excellent, lightweight hunting rifle but (in my opinion) not a REPLACEMENT for an 80. Both have there place. Great channel by the way lads look forward to the next video
Also its nice too hear AA are taking more interest in dealer and customer opinions even though there customer service is generally excellent already.. perhaps Daystate could take a leaf out of there book as recently they seem to have lost there way with there extortionate overpricing of rifles coupled with diabolical customer service.
Replaced as in the Hw95 sells about 10-15 times the number of Hw80's and for our 12ft lb law there is simply no reason to buy an 80 . Of course , and as you say , the Hw80 can go much higher in power but then would you not just go for a PCP with 30ft/lb + ? So for the Uk I will say yes, the 95 has replaced the 80 as the hunters choice :)
I'm not going to argue with you on this point. Daystate really do need to pull their collective finger out . I have been wondering whether to talk about this on the show but after the crap I got for revealing the FX Impact problems I have been a bit shy . Let me talk to Tony about this topic and see where we can go..
No problems for me to discuss this, maybe do an on site report. too late for the next batch as they are already made, but we can put it on a show after that.
I think you can still buy the 85. I think originally the 95 was introduced as a lighter weight option to the 35(but i may be wrong) the 85 i believe was a light weight alternative to the 80 round about mid 80s. Spoilt for choice really i wouldn't change my 1982 hw80mk1 for anything.
I'm not sure about that, look at the chickpeaces of this rifles. HW95 is made to be scoped, can't imagine shooting it with iron sights. HW35,80 and 85 all have lower chickpeaces so are comfortable to shoot with irons. People tend to forget about this aspect and also stock bottoms.. I think HW95 is modern hunter version of HW80, let's not forget they made 80 for American market where shooters didn't seem to understand springers work most precise with up to 9fpe or so. I bought myself new HW85 and couldn't be happier, shoots like a dream out of the box and is still getting better after 1000 shots in 3 months. Wish it had a bit more squared stock bottom but othwervise it is a great airgun for open sights. Oh, Luxus stock for scope shooting are pretty cheap so it is like 2-3 rifles in one. Love this gun.
really enjoying the new channel (though miss the informality and natural feel of the bar videos and hope you still stick with both channels) is their any chance of a wolverine r review soon? currently waiting for my local rfd to get more stock in(delays) and would love to see an unbiased review from you before i hand over my cash
Just been a little busy with other projects and having to replace our camera man/ video editor who has moved away , but we are getting up to date and I have BAR videos planned :)
thanks for the reply, and glad you are sticking with both channels, always look forward to your honest and informed feedback on product reliability etc, not many youtube reviewers willing to point out the negatives or able to give insight into the issues with retail models (as opposed to the carefully selected review models)
Not sure. Maybe they don't supply them in US because of the issue with legality of silencers in many states. We presume this is a European version but not sure. I'd recommend contacting your Weihrauch importer.
@@hotair4269 Thanks for reply! I will do that. Don't think it's the issue with silencer, we get them here all the time, perfectly legal. Thanks again. Cheers.
can this rifle be thoroughly lubricated without getting its warranty voided? are there any authorized dealers or sellers in UK that can offer this full service without affecting the warranty?
At 1:01, "they've been going for donkey(?)" Can you tell this yank what that means? HW-95 Luxus owner here, my first air rifle, only springer in the stable.
Yes, seems a shame you can't have them as part of an air rifles appeal is the quietness. Thanks for watching and hope its still relevant for you guys across the pond
Which Weihrauch Hw95 is better for hunting? Should I go for Weihrauch Hw95 deluxe 22 or 177? I want the best hunter maximum 400euro. I would really appriciate any help. Thanks in advance
Airarms need to make some left handed prosport's it's frustrating because i bought one and it's the best springer i've ever used but so uncomfortable for a left handed shooter
Finally got a 95K .20... Tinbum short stroke, guide and top hat (Why don't Weihrauch put a top hat in there!?) and popped a plug spanner full of lead in the moderator, just 300g to mitigate the muzzle flip. Think I'm done tinkering but will know after a day out tomorrow. It shot nicely out of the box but was twangy as a farm gate and the Tinbum kit has completely cured that, and reduced the recoil. Half the price of the v-mach...
Beautiful gun. I really hate the automatic safety. It is always in the way and you can't reset it - unlike a manual safety which is useful. +1 on swivel studs being standard. The comments on how it compares to the other rifles in the range is really interesting. Any chance you could record the hw95k with and without the silencer and a db meter? Does the gun come with the silencer? I don't even see the hw95k on the Weihrauch's site, or any guns with a threaded end other than possible the 35 E (and the PCPs). I wish they would make the guns available in walnut. They will last a life time, and why not have a beautiful stock to enjoy that with.
I'm not a fan of auto safety catches either but you do get used to the Hw ones . I have a phone meter app so can test it soon but not sure they are good enough . We will see..
They are working on the new regged guns at the moment which will take them to August , then maybe they will work on the springer so lets take an educated guess at end of 2018 , but thats all it is . Gives you chance to start saving :)
95k is probably the preferred gun for hunting due to ease of use and lighter weight. The 97 and TX each have their fans and both are excellent, slightly better than the 95 accuracy wise but much heavier . Between the two you need to handle and shoot them to make a decision.
I shot all those guns 95 for hunting as both tx and 97k heavy as fuck. I did 2 hour mooch with friends and didnt make it to the finish with Tx but its most accurate out of all those it pisses them 10 times over. But I own 95k now sold tx but 95k is 177 got welsh willy kit hawke air max 30sf rapid gun
@@LloydSchober I know you're talking shit only a few year ago tbt kits had 1% failure rate now they don't fail. You don't sell v-mach kits by any chance. And Nicks customer service is awesome if it broke through no fault of there own he'd replace it..
A good retailer knows what his customer wants . We have already spoken to AIr arms many many times about their spring gun range and the need for a new break barrel :)
What's with the camera exposure flicking about? I've noticed it on a few videos, can the camera not be set to a manual, fixed exposure, it's not like your moving about from a bright scene to a dark one and back again. It is particularly distracting on this video! Apart from that, I do enjoy the vids and always learn something new - keep up the good work
Hi Chris . It's a camera issue that we can't seem to fix so we are replacing the camera in the next two weeks. Really sorry about it but it will be sorted :)
@@LloydSchober true but usually things get cheaper over time. Mine was purchased within 12 months of the video. Saw one yesterday for £385 which is the cheapest I've seen one new in the last 5 years or so.
@@LloydSchober Still doesn't change the fact that I have not seen them cheaper than £400 in the last 5 years or so. Can't remember before that. I've been shooting and visiting multiple gun shops for over 30 years so not new to it. Thanks for the input tho. Have a good day.
That really depends on the personal preference I have both but I find the building quality better on air arms I like my hw 97 but it's far as nice and good as the tx200 hc but I also love the weihrauch simple build
