I have the Ring video doorbell Pro and I've had it a couple years. Back in December Ring did an update and now every evening every time a car goes by the headlights reflect on my and the Ring goes off 🤨 so I end up turning it to "people only" mode which is frustrating and defeats the purpose of having it. I wonder if you found the Remo doorbell to have this issue.
Would you still recommend? I was trying to decide between ring & Eufy, but I don’t think I want to pay $30 a year although that isn’t a lot I still don’t feel I should have to pay.
Dude, thank you! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. We wanted to get someone a doorbell as a gift, and didn't want to get them one that had a subscription. You nailed it! Thanks!
I have the Eufy battery doorbell, it's been really great. The AI Human detection means greatly reduced false notifications.. the use of the Homebase means I can position it close to the doorbell and it always has a strong signal (my WiFi isn't super-strong outside my home), the picture quality and response is wonderful, and there are ZERO monthly fees... perfect doorbell for me so far.
@@collinwright6127 I've had it for only a couple weeks.. My only "issues" are that my house faces directly west, which means the afternoon sun is HOT and causes my doorbell to overheat and shut down for a while.. from what I've seen this is a common issue among video doorbells and not specific to my Eufy.. One other issue is that a recent software update to the app on the phone has a bug in it that causes some sporadic times where my phone can't view recorded videos.. I've chatted with Eufy about it, they are aware and will be fixing it .. But really I love the doorbell.. the video is great.. the human-detection AI is really good so i get very very few false notifications.. I'm happy with this choice so far.
Jeff Przylucki That’s great! Thank you for responding to me. How are the notifications when you’re not home on WiFi? For instance if you’re at work do you still get the same quality notifications and audio/video?
@@collinwright6127 Sorry didn't reply faster on this.. but the Notification is really fast WiFi or no WiFi. I get the notifications with a screenshot of the subject that caused the notification pretty quickly, it's not instantaneous for sure, but they come within the time that it would take somebody to walk up to my door and walk away.. Also, I'm an apple user, and have an Apple watch, and I love the notifications popping up on my watch, with that screenshot, so I don't even have to have to pull out my phone to see what the notification is, the picture is on my watch too.
Also, just if you're worried about the "bug" i had reported on this, the bug was actually fixed the day after I posted this, in total there were about 4 days that things were mis-behaving on the app on my phone, and I haven't had any issues since. Eufy did a great job fixing it quickly if you ask me.
The timing of this is perfect! Would you suggest Remo vs. Ring which would you choose? I have 3 little ones under 11, a 19 year old & we get a lot of packages regularly. Security is important for us but price is also important because we are educators with a family of 6. I love love the “I love you” at the end!!! So nice in this day & age. Love you too Deal Guy!
tammygirlm apparently they do and can be set up as chimes, you can also prerecord door bell responses and it records back to the hub not the cloud for free, the hub can have addition storage added to the existing 16gb, it just records over the oldest clips first, had mine about a month with a camera as well great setup very easy to install and the cams are surprisingly small 👌
I've had two Skybell Trim Plus' for a few years now. I don't use them through any service, it is standalone so I don't pay any fees. I get 2 weeks rolling cloud storage. This was the only doorbell that would fit our narrow door frames. I have one on the backdoor and one in the front. I have to reboot them every so often because they tend to miss activity once in a while. I wish Skybell had more competition in this area. I also want to mention that the night vision on the Skybell is not great. There are no lights in my backyard and when I do a live view from the Skybell at night, I can hardly see anything. On the other hand, I have a Wyze outdoor came just a few feet away from the Skybell and the night vision on that is awesome. Thanks for your review.
Sky bell or Remo Do they work with 5ghz WiFi? My router modem has 2.4 and 5ghz. But I don’t want to change my WiFi speed for a doorbell. Thx in advance for your help
Have had a Ring doorbell, door sensors, floodlights, and stick up cam for about 2-3 years. They've worked great and are still in good shape. The only I've done is upgrade the doorbell to a 3+. The longevity and quality get my vote.
The is a common and huge issue that has been ongoing for a year or so with incompatibility between the Orbi system and the Ring doorbell. You might want to consider that if you have invested in the Orbi system and are looking at the doorbell.
LOVE this review!! I have a ring system with multiple cams, floodlight cams, spotlight cams, and doorbell 2 and Pro, have yet to set up pro, so I do the $10 monthly unlimited. I also have some indoor ring cams as well as some that I have bought from your links. I have always wondered about the other brands of doorbells and this video really gives good information. Thanks for keeping us informed. Your channel costs me a lot of money lol. I use your links to buy a lot of stuff!
Great video, I was just about to hit the buy button on the Nest video doorbell, but after listening to your video, I think I'm going to try the Remo. I don't have a laundry list of requirements for my doorbell camera because this will be my first and for the price, it won't break the bank to try it out. And like yourself, I am not a fan of subscriptions. Thanks for the excellent review.
I haven't watch the video yet... But I'm already happy... Because this is one of the ONLY videos with a actual person speaking to me about the different doorbell cams.. All the other ones are a robot voice giving a top 5 or whatever. Thank u.
Eufy for the win hands down. All your videos are stored PRIVATELY on your OWN STORAGE with ZERO FEES. And also works with Apple better than the rest of these doorbells.
Eufy is WAY better than the Ring, no monthly fees, Home Kit Secure Video coming, you should have reviewed the WIRED Eufy doorbell, its $159, now at $111 , even sold for $99 recently, works with NAS, Google, Alexa, etc, video quality WAY better, sound quality way better, i guess you don't like Wyze
I have had ring for three years. Best thing about their protect plan is my first two stickup cams failed and they replaced them with the latest model for free as a part of the ring protect plan. I don’t think any company will replace a three year old camera for free.
Hey I actually installed your system, years ago. I remember having issues with the back door 😅 glad to see your enjoying your system, if you need any help, maybe a doorbell upgrade give me a shout.
I love my new Ring doorbell with front and back motion cameras! I researched for a year. I have a NEST thermostat but their doorbell/cams didn’t impress me. Thanks for the comparisons though. People may have different experiences due to WiFi etc (as in companies) I love my Ring outside coverage and my NEST thermostat but with all the crazies I won’t have cameras in my house! Oh and my house is Alexa (computers/phones Mac) Ring is awesome!
I picked up the Eufy battery doorbell recently.. I liked the use of the Homebase on the battery version, and I just wired mine to my existing doorbell wire, so I never have to worry about the battery charging, it's always full charge. I've loved it so far.
Battery version is better because the memory card is in your home base, the wired version is in the unit itself so if it gets stolen you lose everything unless your paying for cloud storage which defeats the reason to have eufy.
Have not been happy with Ring. It washes out in the background if you have a covered porch. Camera does not handle the difference in light between the porch and the street. They only time it works correctly is in the eve as it is starting to get dark and for about 2 seconds when it is auto adjusting. Thanks for the review. Are any of these doorbells better and handling that problem?
Thank you for taking the time to do the research and share. You give some solid honest comparisons. Next level would be if you hit on the security and encryption of them. There have been security incidents in the past with both Ring and Nest. So more than who is doing great encryption i think a solid frontload research you can share is what companies are performing proper Risk Management Frameworks (RMF) and Vulnerability Management (R&D and Security Updates). I like the idea of Remo+ but how big is their company and more importantly is this a USA company? These lines of acknowledgement would help instill some confidence into those doing the deep shopping. Just because it is cheapest doesn't make it the right option in every case. Thanks again for the review, very helpful.
I have the skybell. It is great! I love how you can change the colours of the LEDs. And it usually connects very fast when I pull a live video. It is just a good doorbell camera. High quality
youandi06 what is the time between picking up movement to the next movement? I have a Zmodo cams, they are 6 minutes between movements, I missed a person walking through my yard. The clips are only 9 seconds long
Good Morning ☀️😃🌞 Matt! Thank you for all you amazing deals because they genuinely help me out tremendously!!! I love this doorbell and my have to switch out my Ring for this one!
This was great... I've been shopping around for a video doorbell and it's so hard to compare all of them at once so Thank you. Have you ever used ADT? I have them as a security system but not sure about the doorbell.
There is the alert sent to your phone too. Call cops if you see them mess with it. For ANY camera doorbell - couldn’t they just put on a hoodie, walk up and put duct tape over the camera then continue on?
I have the Ring peephole doorbell. I like it because I can use voice command to view the camera with Amazon Echo which is easier and faster than trying to grab my phone and find the Ring app. Very easy to install.
The wired Nest doorbells (as well as wired Ring doorbells) are great products. HOWEVER, they don't tell you upfront that these wired doorbells all have an internal non-user-serviceable battery. IF you will be using the doorbell with a mechanical chime, just be aware that at some point, the battery inside will fail. The internal battery on these units are used to provide temporary voltage to the doorbell unit when a mechanical chime is used. When someone presses the doorbell button, power is temporarily routed away from the doorbell to the chime inside the house. The battery keeps the doorbell powered for the 1-2 seconds while this happens. Over time, this small battery will be unable to deal with the voltage drop and your doorbell will lose power and reboot itself. If you don't rely on a mechanical chime or if you use the Ring wireless chime, than it won't be an issue. If you do use a mechanical chime, depending on your environment (which includes usage rate, weather, temperature, etc.), the doorbell will stop function properly at some point in time. For most users, it seems to be somewhere between 1-3 years.
I feel as though you didn’t do the nest doorbell justice. I have never paid for a subscription and the picture quality is one of the best. Has a little bubble look. There’s hardly a lag time between the person ringing the doorbell and the phone tell you they are there, unlike the Ring doorbell.
How is that unlocking the door? Cloud to cloud with a wifi lock? Can it connect to other automation controllers so you can still have a zwave lock etc?
Hi I am in the market to purchase a Doorbell Camera! My packagers are being stolen!! Thank you for the research and information. I Love your honest reviews! ❤
Loved the SkyBell features. I was looking for wired vs. not wired and subscription vs. non subscription so this is helpful. You didn't say if Remo was wired or not... Easy enough for me to look that up though. Thanks!
Hi. Thanks for this video, its very interesting. On this video you show an integration between the Skybell and your smart lock. I have bought one skybell Slim video doorbell. since then, I was searching for a smart lock that can receive unlock commands from skybell and can't find anything on IFTTT or within the Skybell app. Could you provide more details on the setup Skybell + Smart Lock + App you use to program the triggers? Thanks.
We have a skybell. It's so bad. It sometimes doesn't even record when someone comes up and rings the doorbell. It sometimes is delayed about 3 minutes so by time we get an alert, the person is gone. At night is has the problem of not switching to proper lighting, so we can sometimes see nothing at all. It's trash.
I'll stick with my Skybell Slim Line came with my complete ADT Command/Control system all storage included super fast notifications and it's covered for as long as I am with ADT and can be updated/upgraded as newer offerings become available not to mention everything professionally installed and maintenance/repairs all included so....
You ruled out the Arlo video doorbell as it doesn't use Google Assistant and requires a subscription. First. Many people want google out of their lives. They don't like the tracking of personal information that Google does, as is done with their '"Assistant"; thus we consider it a plus that it does not use Google in any way.... Second, Please check on the required monthly fee. I believe you are wrong! I have an existing ARLO Pro 2 wireless camera system of which I get 'free', online-Realtime video and the videos' are stored free for 7 days. You can pay more for long term storage if desired. You can save videos to your local pc or network at any time within the 7 days. I just spoke with ARLO customer service and they told me with the newer Arlo camera Hubs allow the video doorbell to do the same thing..... I look forward to your reply.
"I Hunt down deals", sir that is an understatement if I ever saw one. You are the Navy Seal of deals! About paying fees, nope. I'm buying a video doorbell not hiring a bouncer!
For under $4/mo. I wouldn't be so quick to knock out the Arlo. Great camera! Great integration into the whole Arlo ecosystem. Tons of features added for the small monthly fee.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’ve got first-generation Ring that died a long time ago. I’m looking for newer system, however, I’m totally technologically handicapped and didn’t know where to start. Love your straight forward information. Thank you again - 😈🌹😈
Is there a doorbell that stores videos via WiFi to a SD card. Eufy for example, can't verify your mobile workout internet even if you are in your home WiFi. Maybe I should get an IP camera with notifications.. Any tips?
I have a eufy 2k doorbell, I'm very pleased with it, no subscription, and works extremely well, looks lovely, only gripe is the supposed 2k, I have a eufy 2c cam in the garden, and the video quality is no better than that which is 1080p!
@@Cagefighter Thank you so much, I couldn’t decide between Eufy or ring but it seems Eufy may be the better option if you don’t want to have to pay, is their anything you must pay for with Eufy? Would you provide the link to the exact one you have? I’m checking on Amazon.
@@arianasmith822 there's nothing more you have to pay for, I went with eufy because if that, I bought the doorbell first which comes with homebase 2, then I bought the eufy cam 2c as an addon which saves to the Homebase2 aswell, the Homebase2 also acts as a wifi extender giving greater wifi distance and it actually does work, if you just want the eufy cam 2c it comes with 2 cameras and the homebase, I would wait until black Friday which is not to far away and pick it up in the sales!
I have the ring peephole cam and I like it BUT it does not work through glass and yes I have a security storm door that I have glass windows in during the winter and screens during the summer .. so winter time my doorbell is at half functions.. it picks up knocks and I can use it to see whats going on but no motion detection.. woukd ve nice to know the best camera that works through glass..
THANK you Matt....you are absolutely AWESOME! You're much better than my neighbor in our first home whom I still call occasionally for information on NEW PRODUCTS.(This guy at 81 yrs old is an amazing Techy guy!!! He researches every single new product out there that he is considering using (and some he doesn't use!) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!
Great review! Is this remo an outdoor type? My porch is exposed to elements and directly hit by morning sun. Can this remo take that much heat and rain?
We had our first package theft in four years and basically three out of three ring devices failed to detect motion. The reason I know is because I have a backup system from another brand. I called Ring Support telling them basically the system failed. She checked everything, Wi-Fi speed, zones, etc after putting me on hold, probably talking to a supervisor on how to respond, she said that it was because of cool down and frequency settings. The last motion was 8 minutes before and she knew it. I pay $30 for the Ring Plus and am 100% disappointed in their response. If you see this review on other videos, then it’s because I’m THAT DISAPPOINTED after spending nearly $1k in product and fees. Unfortunately, I have no idea which system is best at person detection, but I know it’s not Ring.
I noticed that the Remo+ will only operate down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit. That will not work in most Northern states. Even in Cleveland, Ohio we drop below -4.
I use Ring doorbell gen 2 just because when we move in are house we didn’t have a door bell. There no way for us to set one up with out paying $2,000-3,000 to get a basic boor bell hook up. The battery last 2-3 months. It takes 3 hours to fully change. With it being only $99.99 it’s a cheaper option.
