I haven’t found anything to cover it. Oh, it also connected to my existing door bell chime, I got the wired one. It did come with its own chime that I put in my basement. @@sufferedlearnedchanged I wouldn’t necessarily say easily. But if “hackers” can hack into some of these major companies we hear about on the news once in a while I’m sure there could be a breach on a video doorbell. One of the nice things without having to use the cloud and having the local in-house storage, is that the only real way to get into any of your systems would be to be at your house and hack into your IP are local Wi-Fi. But then again, you would have access to all your devices connected to your Wi-Fi at that point almost. So that’s one of the reasons I like that the Eufy system doesn’t require you to use the cloud or else. You have options.

Do you have a pretty good memory with the plug-in chime. But I believe the new ones now have the ability to be added with the home base storage. So then you can have one or 2 TB of memory. Just kind of pens on how you want to set it up. We still use the regular set up with the plug-in chime and that is all the memory that we’ve been using. Haven’t had any problems with being able to go back and review footage from weeks ago but I haven’t looked to see how far back it goes.

I had a Eufy doorbell and was plagued by phantom rings, often in the middle of the night. No kids playing pranks either, the recorded videos show clearly no one was there. Eufy support could not figure out the problem and would not replace the doorbell or base since it was two months out of warranty. I switched to Ring and have been happy with the experience.

That sucks that you had such a bad experience with it. I have an experience that myself. I know they do have some adjustments with the sensitivity or types of motion you wanted to sense. But if it was doing that to you, and there was no fix. I could see that you had to go out and look for other options. I know everybody experiences different things, my horrible experience with ring. But I’ve heard other people have had success. Luckily there’s lots of options out there to fit peoples needs and budget.

I was using a Eufy 1080p wireless doorbell, which was OK, but then switched to the Blink doorbell, as I have other Blink cameras and thought it was a good idea to have it all on the same platform. I'm think now of putting the Eufy back. With the Eufy, when the doorbell rings, I get a notification, tap it and see who's there. With the Blink, it takes longer to view who's at the door. By the time I'm able to see who is at the door, they're usually gone. Also one advantage to the Eufy wireless doorbells is that the data is stored _inside_ on as SD card in the _chime_ , not in the doorbell itself, which is a good feature if a perpetrator rips the doorbell off. The video is still in the house. I don't know why the wired doorbells don't do it that way. The only thing the Blink is beter at is battery life. the lithium batteries seem to last longer than a charge on the Eufy. It seems like I've been charging the Eufy every month.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
Thank you for your input! I’m this is good info because I’ve never used the blink systems. I think they all have their pros and cons but for what I need it for and experience with others I too prefer the Eufy. I’m happy with how fast they are like you said. Never had a problem with it. I used a battery powered and needed up switching to a wired version because I got tired of charging. I like being able to wire it in and not mess with it.

@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
You’ll have to use the plug in that comes with it. Unfortunately the way these door bells work with having a constant supply of electricity they don’t activate the traditional type of door bell. The benefit though is that you can plug it in anywhere you want. It could be in your bedroom or the garage or wherever you might want the notification to be utilized best. And it can be an outlet that is not being used or somewhere out of sight if you prefer. It’s kind of cool that you can put the bell anywhere you want.

Still have a Ring doorbell button, though - two more months on my subscription before it goes. Wanted a doorbell camera that uses existing doorbell so I have a Lorex doorbell camera. But the mounts on Lorex doorbell cameras suck. Very wimpy plastic mounts. Plus, they don't provide a base big enough to cover existing holes from previous doorbells. I got this doorbel for a while now. Few points: it only lasts 3 months instead of a year. Has a proven security flaw that video files are stored out of the country. Which can be accessed by Eufy. The doorbell is so slow establishing a connection that the package guy is already gone 9/10. Although i do have 1000mb internet. So that is a couple of things from a longterm user. What is also funny is that if you also take the camera's with the base station.. you can steal it, and reset it. It will delete remotely all the content from the basestation. Leaving you with an empty basestation. It is the perfect scenario for burglars.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 10 месяцев назад
Sucks to hear that. I haven’t experienced any of those problems. The notifications come in quick, usually within 1-3 seconds of the motion my watch and phone are vibrating. And I’ve been able to catch people at my door before they leave and speak to them through the doorbell very well. As far as a base station storage and if your not storing anything in cloud, you’d want obviously want that in a secure location. Not out in the open or easily grabbed. That would be the same case with any security system that’s stored on property. You don’t want anyone grabbing the storage device.

This is the best unbiased comparison between the Ring and Eufy. I never understand why one would want to pay to get your video recorded on the cloud. And I agree it is by far a much better camera. I've had the original 2K for a little over two years now. I had to get the battery version because the location of the original doorbell button is not at the best location to put the Eufy. Interestingly enough I've only had to charge the battery twice; I get notified when it's time to charge it so that's a nice feature. This model came with a homebase that serves as the doorbell and video storage. It has a really good object (person) detection system. I get notified long before a person gets within 10 feet of the door. I decided to install an commercial grade day and night color camera with a wide lens that covers the ground floor as well as the walkway to the house.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
I completely agree! I personally love the doorbell. After having a couple others I still prefer the Eufy. I think the cameras detection system is great. I’m impressed how it has the facial recognition and sends you a snap shot of the persons face as they are walking up. And you are right with how fast it is. I hated getting a notification about someone at my door and by time I get it open to view they are gone or walking away. Not with this Eufy.

I think the only problem I have with the Eufy video doorbell is the potential risk of losing the footage if the camera is taken off its place, because the free part is the local storage that records footage into the camera for a certain amount of time. Other than that, I'm liking it
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 8 дней назад
The data/video is stored in the plug in chime that is plugged in the wall inside your home, so your data will be safe inside. It’s not stored directly in the doorbell itself. They thought of that part. And the newer plug in door chimes have expandable micro SD card slots to allow more storage if you choose to. And they have the home base storage too if you have the home security cameras which has 1T or bigger storage I believe. All in your home where you choose

The one security weakness is that if local storage is in the doorbell it can be damaged or stolen. I also find that the delay in getting the video after an event suggests that even without a subscription there may be uploads to the cloud.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
These have the option to have a Home Base which is extended memory that can be in your home in a secured location to circumvent the problem of a damaged or stolen doorbell. You can keep all the memory safely at home still and home HAVE to pay for storage in a subscription format just to be able to use the features of your doorbell camera. I found that as a negative when you buy a Ring doorbell for all the cool things it can do but you don’t get all those features unless you continue to pay for them.
@cybernoid001

Eufy does allow for local storage, and if you get a Synology NAS, you can also back that up to a cloud service of some kind (or even another Synology NAS you have stored at a relative's house that you can sync the data between) and there is a Synology app to view your video feed remotely as well. I haven't gotten one yet but I am planning on it may be more steps than what most people want, but the important thing, is that you are in control of your won data. Ring freely gives your video feed to policy agencies when they simply ask, not even under subpoena.

I’ve had them for 3 years now, yes RING does have you pay a fee but its under $10 dollars for the whole year!! My cameras are crystal clear, the sound is good and the communication speakers with well. I’m not saying this camera you’re showing isn’t good, but it has its faults as well. The added, required part, if you needed it for the doorbell to work then why didn’t they send it in the box?? That’s their way to make extra money. So I’ll stick with my RING, it’s tried and true.

I get what your saying but they do tend to hold their charges longer and the storage you saying will be lost isn’t true, the data is stored in your home , either in the plug in door bell chime or your home base memory. I also didn’t like that you had no other choice but to sign up for a subscription. They have the ability to have some local storage in the device if they wanted too. IT WILL NOT WORK CONTINUALY OVER A MONTH WHEN IT IS HARDWIRED, the battery need to be fully charged and reset, this requires pulling the bell wire out reinstalling (personally went thru 3 or them and two software updates. 2. SHORTAGE OF STORAGE NOT EXPENDABLE, I have a high number of the visitor in installation and local storage in EUFY HOME has 16GB of storage, and it has a USB that doesn't extend the storage via USB Sticks, they never implemented via firmware upgrade. The information at the beginning of the video claiming that ring/blink cannot store video locally or has no access after the FREE trial subscription ends is just FALSE. If you buy it with the Sync Module you have the ability to locally store and remotely view any and all motion alerts and videos from all of your cameras on that system. As stated by another user at least that is inside the house so you don't have to lose everything when someone just rips the camera off the house. Also to buy the blink/ring system with that backup option is still less expensive that what you're proposing here. In addition you can use your existing Alexa or blink mini camera's as chimes in addition to your mobile devices and tablets by just installing an app and setting up which ones you want to ring. Just tell people the truth rather than a paid marketing scheme. Otherwise a well made video, and no beef with using an alternate product that has the same or maybe better features.. but don't lie about a competitor to make a quick buck.

I appreciate the feed back. I make videos on all the stuff I buy or use to just give insight or instructions on installing/problem solving. But was not paid by Eufy to do this. I was making a video about my ring doorbell and then learned about how I’d have to have a subscription or buy more equipment to store my data/alerts n such. I then researched, found eufy and liked that with just the doorbell it had internal storage and the ability to expand, but didn’t have to buy anything else other than the door bell if I didn’t want to. I was mainly focusing on using the door bell as a stand alone and having the ability to access all the creatures these door bell talk about. With ring I lost most those great features after the trail unless I wanted to pay for something in addition. With the Eufy i was able to install and have full access to the features as advertised and didn’t have to pay for them down the road. I also had a lot of connection issues with my ring doorbell. Not saying this is a problem for everyone but something I experienced. With the Eufy I’ve had a way better experience with opening the app and I’m the video feed popping right up. The ring lagged or didn’t connect. And when it did half the time it would notify me that it was doing a software update and would be back online shortly. Super annoying. But again I appreciate the feedback. Never intentionally hiding any info from people. I may be pumping up what I’m doing or expanding more on what I have in my hand vs the other options, but that’s only because it’s what I may have more experience with or actually have experience using. I usually just make videos about stuff I find or have used. There’s plenty of other options out there. Im not testing and doing break downs on all systems like a tech channel, just trying to help people with getting more info out there.

@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 10 месяцев назад
@@mnp870 the light build security cameras can be a great option if you don’t have the power source available on the exterior of your home but do have exterior lights. This usually allows your to just connect to your WiFi and not have to run any additional cables through your roof. 4K video quality is usually a plus but something with 2K video quality is still very good. Like you said, your budget really will determine what’s best for your situation, but there are many good options out there.

Great video!! I don't need a doorbell. I live in a condo where I have had a chair taken and someone put grease on the catwalk in front of my door. I just want to be able to see the people who are doing this or have it stopped hopefully when they see the camera. Do you recommend this camera? Do I need any wifi? I have seen videos of cameras that need it. I don't think my wifi would extend outside of my condo. Please let me know. Thanks.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
If you are in a condo I don’t think they will allow you to run wires to your cameras, and in this case you’d most likely need a WiFi system set up for all the cameras to communicate with the hub. Eufy products in my opinion are great. So I would recommend them. But your situation is unique. So you may. We’d to look at what your options are with WiFi wireless cameras, wired cameras, etc.

Does this connect to any EUFY homebase or do I need different homebase just to use the doorbell? I have a Eufy Cam 2C

It says it works with homebase. Some of the doorbells come with a homebase. I’ve read that the homebase a 3c doesn’t work with it. Unsure is the 2c does or does not.

Do any of these door cameras work with existing door bell? I have an expensive tubular chime system that I am not planning to get rid of. Is there a remote relay or wiring from the camera button available?
@FortKnoxCo

I’m not sure what wiring would be required to trigger your home doorbell but I’m sure it’s possible. Most of these new video doorbells use a wireless plug in chime that can go anytime the home. But as far as using your wired doorbel I’m not completely familiar with that.

I’m wondering if the power issues from your transformer were the actual issues you had with Ring. My ring doorbell was never this finicky as yours
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
I think that was the issue or at least part of it. I’ve heard some other people having similar issues. Could be the WiFi strength too but with the eufy I have the same internet connections and it’s been flawless. I really like that the Eufy doorbell self diagnosed, told be verbatim what the issues was, the part I needed and instructions on how to upgrade it. The Ring doorbell never alerted be nor told me how fix it. They should add something like that, it would be super helpful.

I’m not sure if it syncs with Amazon products since it’s not one that they make. It has its own app and you can control and sync other Eufy products/caneras. But not sure how it works with another brands home hub.

Are you able to plug it in to a wall outlet and use it? We don’t have an existing door bell.
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 11 месяцев назад
It doesn’t have the ability to plug in. It also Runs off a lower power source than a standard plug. Doorbells have a transformer that reduces the power to a 30v type of power supply before it runs to the doorbell. So I have a video showing this installation of a doorbell transformer from a regular outlet power source to the transformer to the doorbell wires. But they have the battery powered doorbells. They can be mounted and used pretty much anywhere. You just have to charge the battery every once in a while.

I would get the video door bell that is the combo with the plug in chime. The chime is super helpful and nice that you can plug it in anywhere. Plus it has internal memory, so the indoor plug in chime technically is your storage of data/video, protected inside your home incase something ever happens to the outdoor doorbell itself. Some of the newer chimes or larger combo packs have the option to add your own memory card in increase its storage too.

Hi, Not sure where the 2 wires are from when you put the plate up, Where are they connected??
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo Год назад
In the video I’m installing the wired version, it connects to your existing doorbell on your home. Assuming your home has a wired doorbell, you’d remove your push button door bell and there should be two wires connected to the back. You take those two wires which have a low voltage current and connect them to you wired door bell. With the battery operated doorbell you don’t need any wires to connect to. You just mount the doorbell where you want it and it connects to your homes WiFi.

Do you know if the Eufy app has a ringer so I can answer from anywhere, and if so, can I control it's volume? Thanks! I got the AOSU doorbell and it seems to have most of Eufy's features (except it only runs on battery), but the smartphone's ring on my phone is so obnoxiously loud that I've turned it off; abandoning this powerful feature. AOSU actually told me "just turn your phone's volume down", ugh. Also, the AOSU's SD card resides in the remote ringer device, which also serves as a "hop" to our network. If the doorbell is stolen, then I still have the recordings. Does Eufy do the same?
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 11 месяцев назад
Such does have the app that will notify you of motion and then if someone rings the door bell. I have mine set to just silent/vibration. It actually vibrates my Apple Watch and notifies me. So I can see the image from my watch and then answer on my phone. I believe you can turn the ringer on to actually make a noise too. But I like the vibration only for the same reasons you described. As far as memory stored inside your home they have a couple options. It’s either stored on the plug in chime in your home or in their homebase station that people use for their Eufy camera systems. Either way your videos are safe inside your home.

What is the field of view (FOV) for the Eufy? 180? I have to mount mine to the side not directly in front of visitors
@FortKnoxCo
@FortKnoxCo 2 месяца назад
I believe their website says it has a 160 degree view. But they do come with angled bases to help turn the doorbell to achieve a better angle as well. Also if you use the battery powered model you could mount it anywhere you want. Could even mount it on the door itself to look directly at people. Just an option.

@FortKnoxCo

Yes it should come with instructions on how to do that. It basically bypasses the chime to create a through connection. I didn’t initially install the jump cable when I first installed this chime. I later did go back and install that before upgrading my doorbell transformer.
