Best video I’ve seen in a while. Thank you. I am a dell xps 15 user and at this point I can’t stand the laptop due to heat issues and fan noise. Starting to look at Lenovo, your video just confirmed my choice
Great video! Thanks for the info. I was wondering if the Macbook Air M2 you mentioned is the 8GB 256SSD or the 16GB 512 SSD. Do you think the Macbook Air M2 would substantially benefit from upgrading from 8GB ram to 16GB ram? And the SSD from 256 to 512? I'm on a budget but I need something that works well for video editing, mainly 4k IG and YT videos. Thanks!
Get the 16gb and 512, or if they have this configuration (to save you some money), get the 16gb ram and 256 gb internal. Edit off of an external m.2 ssd enclosure like an 990 pro 1tb.
Hello im planning to buy a laptop for after effects which one is better i5 8300H GTX 1050 or Ryzen 5 6600H Radeon 660M isn't it better to chose ryzen because After Effects is CPU bound
Ben if you had a choice between a 2012 Zephyrus (Ryzen 7 6800hs, 6800s) or Legion 5 (Ryzen 7 7745hx, RTX 4070) which would you choose. Keep in mind portability and size is also a bit of a factor. Thanks!
For video editing needs, do laptops with i9 generation 12 HX and RTX 3080 TI have better performance compared to i9 generation 13 HX and RTX 4060 laptops? What do you think?
Exactly the review I was looking for on the internet. Thank you! BTW I see lot of older models on sale you mention here but with RTX 3050. Is that big performance limiter for editing 2-4K videos? Many thanks
Love your videos. Really informative. Would you recommend Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro for a student starting in graphic design? They are about $600 cheaper than Book3 pro.

Mini LEDs are OK for photo/video editing? The screen looks great, but in a dark area if the LEDs turn off doesn't it affect the perception of what are you editing?
I remember that all the Asus laptops from last year which came with a mini LED screen had an option to keep the whole backlight on making it similar to a standard LCD panel when the mode is turned on for this exact reason. Lenovo also keeps the whole backlight on when in SDR mode and uses per zone lighting only in HDR mode. So, atleast for laptops from Lenovo and Asus you shouldn't have this issue however I'm not sure whether laptops from other brands have any such option available
Hi Ben, the 2023 Pro art studio book fixed the trackpad and they gave it a haptic touchpad which even has pen support. Regarding the Yoga Pro 9i, it does have a 2023 edition but it's called slim pro 9i in North America for some wierd reason and you have reviewed it if I remember correctly. They fixed all complains of 2023 edition by giving it a second type c port, newer HDMI port, larger battery and more power efficient processor and an option for 64gb RAM. It is indeed the most exciting one. Second guessing my purchase decision of buying the 2023 edition last December, but I got it for a great deal so the regret is much lower
I know you cannot cover every config. I just ordered a used HP Omen i9-12h but with an older RTX3060 running 2560x1440, which would put it lower end of mid range or so? Just by looking at your stats and reviews. Either way, $799 should be a very happy price. From what I could glean, everything else equal Asus Vivobooks are reviewed as top of their group and HP Omen holds a solid 2nd for most reviewers (Your mileage may vary) as far as "complete package" goes. Any view or experience?
No mention of the ASUS 16" ProArt StudioBook 16 OLED with i9 24-Core (13th Gen) and RTX 4070 and 32GB RAM upgradeable and one open slot for SSD (upgradable)?
@15:34 A G14 2022 RADEON GFX card laptop performs better than an NVIDIA 3xxx or 4xxx series laptop? Really? I thought CUDA was T-H-E tool for After Effects + Davinci + Premiere usage...
He has some older videos where he goes in depth with each computer part and why it's important. Go check his videos on how does CPU Cores and Threads work
@@BenGKaiser The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9 14IRP8 - has 64GB RAM! So Rare! But I think that intel CPU gives you only 1.5 hours tops on battery, and this is super tough! You can't really call it a laptop...that's the problem... I don't see any alternative with an AMD CPU + 64GB RAM 🥲
If you're an After Effects user, is the only truly lag-free experience on an Apple Mac? It seems like nothing beats Apple because of their unified memory architecture, where both the CPU and GPU can access the same memory pool, making everything faster and more efficient
Market left us with a confusion bet. TUF vs Victus for rendering which you recommend? Can Vivobook be a choice with its iris x or xe Graphics? & how about Lenovo Yoga 7i?
Hello guys, I have a question because I don’t have any knowledges in terms of computer ! For design, video and photo editing, should I get the « Macbook Pro 14/16 M3 pro » or the « Asus ProArt Studio Book Pro 16 OLED » or the « Asus Zenbook Pro 14 OLED » My budget should be at $2500, I can go maximum to $2600. Thank you all for your replies !!
In my eternal search for the last couple of months for the perfect laptop ( mainly for editing videos) I have watched 100s of reviews. This one takes the 🥇 first price.❤ thank you for the great 👍 work
Hello. I just found your channel. I really find this videos extremely helpful. I am wondering if you can do an updated laptops for aftereffects. Thank you
Pull up the Task Manager when you have Premiere Pro open. Review which components are experience the most stress while running the app. That will be your first step to resolving the issue.
Lovely video as always. Very educative. Please am trying to buy a laptop for Vfx & 3d rendering. what is the minimum Laptop spec you would recommend for 3d animation rendering? Also what’s the best laptop spec option for a smooth 3d rendering workflow without hiccups? Thank you so much
@@thomasbitsch5488okay great. After watching countless of his videos I finally decided to settle with Asus zephyrus g14. Ben speaks highly of asus zephyrus G14 as great (bang for bucks in his words 😂) Option laptop for architecture & 3d animation rendering. Also made mention specifically 2022 model with ryzen 9 6800hs, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd & redeon rx 6700s is much powerful than the 2023 model with Nvidia. Will just settle with that.
Hi Ben, what GPU would you recommend for multicam editing (3x 4K cameras)? I believe in this case the specs you provided at 22:52 "What GPU do you need for video editing" would be different from what's needed for single file editing? I really like the video. All informations you need in one video, it really helps a lot. 🤓👍
Hi Ben, i have a question. I have been struggling to choose between the Lenovo Yoga pro i9 and asus zephyrus g16. Any tips? I game but not a lot. It will mostly be used for 3d Modelling, foto editing and graphic work. Thank you in advance.
If you want a 4080/4090, then g16 will be your only choice. Otherwise yoga pro 9i has a brighter touchscreen display and a numpad while the g16 is a bit lighter in weight. G16 seems to have a weaker hinge though. Both have amazing build quality, speakers, trackpads and offer similar performance. So, if none of the previous points are dealbreakers for you, I would say go for whichever is cheaper.
@@Spamme-jt5nd thanks, i appreciate it. For both of them i am looking at the 4070 versions. Where i life they are the same prize also 😅. So it is a really hard pick for me. I heard that Lenovo hdmi works only on lower hertz monitors though. I have no idea how it is for the g16.
For some reason, I thought that you are talking about the 2024 versions with core ultra 9. But given that you already know the prices and they are available, I think you are talking about the 2023 versions with 13th gen Intel processors? If so, the whole thing changes particularly for g16 . If it's the 2023 variants you are comparing I would suggest yoga pro 9i over g16 unless an RJ45 port and a second type c port is very important. This is because 2023 g16 doesn't have the weight advantage as they both weigh the same and most of the variants come with a 1200p screen and it's a magnesium alloy body. Whereas the yoga pro 9i comes with a cnc milled alluminium body which is stronger. Yoga pro 9i is also slimmer and has a 3.2 k screen, much better webcam and speaker system. Some variants also come with touchscreen and even mini led as an option however I am not sure about the particular variant you are looking at but I assume it is the mini LED touchscreen variant if it has a 4070. It also has much faster ram at 6400Mhz but it is soldered so you can't upgrade it later whereas the g16 comes with one slot of ram soldered while the second slot can be upgraded to 32 GB iirc totalling it to 40 GB/48 GB depending on the configuration. So, if you don't mind not having an RJ45 and are fine with single type c port and 32 GB of RAM, I would suggest Yoga Pro 9i if they're the same price. Regarding the HDMI, it is limited to 4K @30Hz, but it should be fine with 1080p and 1440p monitors. It also has a TB4 port, so you can use that to drive upto 8K if you want. When looking for the reviews, you can also search for Slim pro 9i. It's the same model but it's called Slim pro 9i in North America for some wierd reason
Even I purchased the 2023 Yoga Pro 9i for myself. I went for the i9, 4050 with mini LED touchscreen as I got it manufactured refurbished for 1200 USD few weeks ago. Waiting for the beauty to reach me
@@Spamme-jt5nd a 2024 g16 with the ultra 7 and 4070 is the same price as the i9. I do not trust magnesium alloy. Out of experience i know the heat is a problem a lot of times.
Personally, I don't recommend Dell bcuz they use Seagate hard drives and they don't last long. That's what I'm currently using (Dell Inspiron), but I'm currently customizing an HP and looking at reviews b4 I finally buy.
Hi Ben, for the 2022 asus zephyrus g14 with ryzen 9 6800hs & rx 6700s, is the ram upgradeable? If yes what’s the max size upgradeable? Also for the ssd storage slot as well. Thanks
@@ochiorbus thanks man. Saw one with 16gb ram but not exactly sure if it’s 8gb soldered & 8gb on the expansion slot or 16gb soldered on the panel. Are you also looking to get the g14? Or just the ram?
Hi! I need a laptop for editing video 4K and lots of background processes opened (like Adobe Premiere is encoding my video and I'm working simultaneously in photoshop and after effects and I have plenty of tabs in browser opened and everything works perfect. I found lenovo legion 5 with I9 13900HX and 4060 and I found Mechrevo with I9 13900HX and 4080. Do I need to pay more for 4080? Or 4060 will be enough? I just want to use this laptop for next 10 yeats
I was doing the same research for business/short content film 4k editing and what I came across as the best recommendation/budget is i7 with a 4070 32gb ram with 1tb and that’ll get you far from what I’ve seen. Legion pro 5i 1,700$ and you can finance it with 0% interest as long as it’s paid off in 12 months.
