In 2005 when I got my whirlpool duet front load washer... which is now over 18 yrs old... I remember being told it was junk and I would be LUCKY to get 5 to at most 10 years out of it... To be fair, the board went out year 2 and when it was replaced, I plugged it into a surge protector...and no issues at all ever since... Not sure if it's just luck or the surge protector is protecting the electronics somehow
Thank you so much for this information. I was @ Lowe’s last night to purchase a new washer but wasn’t sure which machine/brand was worth buying. I known Speed Queen is the best but I am on a budget. Again thank so much!!!
What LG models are recommended? Had Whirlpool 3 years old and computer died. Model number or names would be helpful for purchase? Are there any old school models left?
If you can't spring for the TC5 Speed Queen, the Whirlpool-built (includes Amana and other related brands) with a true dual-action agitator instead of an "agipeller" could be a good choice. The SQs are built to last a long time in commercial use, and the drive components and suspension are identical to the Speed Queen units (includes IPSO and Huebsch) top-loaders in your corner coin laundry, they take under 30 minutes to run a load, and they get the clothes clean.Parts are readily available and simple design means you can usually repair anything you need to yourself without a service call.
1:10 LG=Lots of Grief I had a top-loader from LG and it was a steaming heap of feves in every way, didnt even get the clothes clean and it wouldn't proceed through a complete cycle without constant nursing and hand-rebalancing. You mentioned Speed Queen earlier, and I bought a TC5000 the first week of release because my LG had died and the replacement Studebaker hubap in the bottom (ordered directly from LG by model number, serial number, and the part number copied from the broken part) didn't fit. GE=Grief Expected. I bought LG to replace a GE top-loader that had barely outlasted the warranty and according to the service tech was not worth fixing. I learned when my GE refrigerator failed that GE factory service sucks.
Never washed before? If you did small research and experience will tell you that the agitator is what gets really dirty and all clothes clean/cleaner compare to the non agotator ones. If you only have light soiled/dirty clothes a non agitator might do ok if its good realiable machine more room to wash clothes may wash dirty clothes but will take way longer and need to rewash multiply times as their no agitator. Also seems theres no real agitator on stores only dual action agitator which is hybrid agitates clothes back and forth and from bottom seperately but not fully goess around so it partially agitates al clothes those are dual action best bet if you want closest thing to old machines unless you get a speed queen tc5 with real agitator goess full around and fully agitates clothes.
Yea seem he may have abreviated to much guessing from comments he likes ones with agitators so any good brand or machine with agitators or reputation as theyrl leave clothes cleaner. If going with no agitator impelor was any he showed from brands he mentioned like non high efficiency models also they are to weak and garbage
A Maytag Performa washer would be a lot better than that piece of shit fancy garbage washers out there today and they think that we have to accept that crap but Nope we don't and rather wash clothes in the bathtub because the high efficiency crappy washers are worthless.
