Way better proportions and better value than the Tudor bb gmt imho. Longines are doing a great job of providing some great options now. The much improved Conquest and Hydroconquest which also has this gmt version. Then there's the Zulu time available in two sizes are all very tempting to me.
I just got one today from AD for a very very good price. Paid approximately 2400 USD for the green dial version on bracelet. The built quality is surprisingly exceptional for the price point. And totally agree on how comfortable the watch is on the wrist. Couldn’t be more happy with the purchase. This will definitely get a lot of wrist time as I intend it to be my daily driver. Well done Longines!
An absolute beauty. Was torn between this and green bezel Zulu and eventually went for the Zulu. After watching this it won’t be long before I get myself another Longines
Bruce is right....this is the best bang for the buck. Another alternative is their Ultra-Chron dive watch. Very distinctive and with its high-beat movement of 10 ticks per second it's ultra accurate.
I am the owner of the green dial Longines HC GMT for 4 months. Never can take off from my hand. The selection of Green or Brown to me was a hard decision making. After 4 weeks of struggle , I went to the boutique and put both on my wrist so that I can made my choice. NB: I also have the Zule Time, Green bezel. Both no regret.
It’s awesome that you mention some of the negatives like it not being COSC certified like the Spirit Zulu is, but all in all this is a beautiful true gmt for a good price point. Longines has also been around longer than some many of those other brands that someone might save up for instead, so the history is there.. great review as always!
I tried this watch on in brown a few days ago and for less than $2500.00 it is amazing 😊😊😊😊😊 bezel play is tight!!!!! Sadly I don’t need another diver nor GMT but highly recommend it to those who want one
Great vid Bruce. Couldn’t agree more. I have the olive green. And I also have the COSC certified steel bezel Hodinkee Zulu Time version-which is the same movement only COSC certified. That said, RE: the used prices and general price competive situ with these Longines, I could have bought a Tudor BB Pro or GMT, new grey market, for about what I paid for the higher priced Hodinkee steel bezel version. But I didn’t, because I felt, brand/style caché aside, the Longines was a better watch in spec, style, and design. Highly recommend both watches-Longines Spirit Zulu Time and the New Hydoconquest GMT. They both punch above their price.
This might be my birthday present next year!?.. love my British racing green Hydroconquest, even though it is far from perfect!.. perfection is boring and Longines is that beautiful girl with a crooked nose!
I agree with your rankings by color. I own an older standard blue dial version (not GMT). Great design OTHER than the crossed hands at the center. I've never understood why any watch of any type has this feature. No need for it at all. Makes the dial too crowded and busy.
SM has a Homage of this Longines GMT - and in several aspects the SM is better for 10% of the price. In fact you should compare them. You would be surprised.
Wish they made a simple three-hander for lower price. Having a GMT hand without a GMT bezel and being at the office, it’s just not suitable for a daily wearer.
@@drkesrf Which is only useful when you travel. If you are not a frequent traveler, you just can’t use the GMT hand most of the time. If it had a GMT bezel (like Spirit Zulu Time), you could have used it to track different time zones.
Been seriously considering this watch, 2 thoughts. (1) The round markers at 6 and 9 are a mistake, they look ridiculously out of place. Did they think they had to put something goofy on the dial to make it stand out? It detracts from the otherwise classy vibe this watch dial gives off. (2) I would love to see this in a simple 3 hand no date version (without the aforementioned round markers).
You don't even notice the circles on the wrist. The GMT hand on the green and brown versions is very understated. I bought the green version and it is awesome.
the GMT hr marker is too small ,mistake which many others made to be a practical function .To make it worse ,the color just blend into the background almost unreadable
The hydroconquest used to be unique and stand out, now it just looks like 99% of other diver watches out there, it's lost its originality. The same thing happened to the tissot seastar. Swatch group is "blending" all of its lineup, sadly, the exception being Omega, but the price isn't an option for me yet.
@@bigmacdaddy1234the mad watch collector complained at length about it. I was considering buying the blue version - was really put off by the stiff, hard on the fingers bezel and how flat and awkwardly the base of the watch fit on my wrist (you can see it in some of the shots on this video). Too bad as it checks a ton of boxes otherwise.
you mean most boring watch under 3K? the old hydroconquest is unique and instantly identifiable and zulu time is possibly the best under 3k. the LLD 39 is possibly the best compressor dive watch of all time but the new conquest and hydroconquest are just epic fail, why are people in denial. Longines hit and miss.
A few more that come to mind: Bell & Ross BR 05, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Desert Edition, Grand Seiko Tsuji, Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero. Quite a few bronze watches out there with brown dials, e.g. the bronze editions of these watches: Black Bay 58, Tag Heuer Autavia, Superocean 44, CW Ward C60 etc.
