Hey there, since we released our BT2.0 connectors, there are a lot of questions about how to replace the old connector with BT2.0 connector safely. So here we are.

When soldering tiny connectors it is a good idea doing this while the plug is mated with its matching receptacle. By this way the soldered part is much more resistant against high temperature and probably melting or weakening plastic and therefore better protected against destruction.

Yeah learnt from experience. This even happens with xt60 connectors.

@@fossil98 Not just for XT60 (XT30, ...). Do it that way is a good idea for most connectors 🙂

It is not mentioned where the replacement black cap came from. The original was cut to pieces with the diagonal cutters...

I too am looking for the replacement caps, googled 1s caps, bt2.0 caps etc ... no results

That looks like shyt. The best way to do this is going to be to get some 24ga wire and add 1 inch leads to your batteries. The plug will safely be shrink wrapped at the end of the leads. That hot glue mess is unacceptable.

Not sure why you have to butcher the PH connectors as much. Doing it with side cutters also risks short circuiting if you'r not careful. A better way would be to use a plastic spudger and lifting the small plastic arms keeping the crimped metal parts in place in the plastic housing. Of course keeping one of the connectors in place while soldering the other one in its new home. Also - maybe a better way to handle the version without a pigtail might be to add one instead of adding half the battery weight of hot glue?

Instead of using a bunch of hotglue you could have used heatshrink, looks like you can fit a small piece to cover the soldered wire if it doesnt fit get electrical tape, cut it thin and wrap around the wire. Do that for both wires and at the end i would ignore the black cap and just dress it with as little electrical tape as possible.

Or kapton tape, that's easier to use in tight spaces (or at least easier to get to stay in place without adding lots of it)

It is because the pin spacing for cable is so tiny... I see a security risk and it is hard for DIY. GNB27 has much larger pn spacing. And a virtual downsized XT connector to the same size of a BT2.0 has an even larger pin spacing than the GNB27. That is why i gonna change to GNB27 with all of my 1S batteries and quads...
