Bout time we had an open-source alternative to BT 2.0...

Seeing as I'm already using BT2.0, I can easily just snag whatever A30 batteries I like and use them without a thought. That should open the door for more than just 300 and 450 mAh packs. Tis a good day for micros!

You had me laughing at the end. I was missing this video. When I realized that GNB dropped the GNB27 and went right through with the A30 this was the new standard. Definitely using it for planes under 10A/under 100g

Definitely love how those batteries feel when flying those Flywoo micro quads. However, several of them are swelling up after only a few weeks of use.

I got these connectors for my gopro bones. That way I don't have to buy a bunch of the other connectors and so I don't have to wear out the plug on my bones.

The adoption of A30 will not only be about the connector itself but also the quality of 1s lipos that will be using A30. Today we have Tattu, webleed etc using folded cells + BT2.0....what about A30?

Is it okay to run 2s through these? As long as you stay below the 15 amp limit? I'm doing micro aircraft with 11xx-18xx motors, generally pulling 7 amps or less. I have a twin planned where each motor will pull 4.7@100% throttle, so less than 10 amps combined. Thanks for the help.

I couldn't find these battery connectors anywhere only the pigtail whoop side so i drew one up on fusion 360 like i always do and got some copper tubing and made my own was pretty easy actually the copper tube comes in lengths of about 10 inches so for a few dollars and some print material you can make about 30 of them I wonder if thingiverse will get up me for posting them 😂

I just got a moblite 7 w gnb27. Should I just buy some gnb27 batteries to get started. 30$ isn't a huge deal to me. Or should I upgrade to a30 off the jump?

@JoshuaBardwell I'm changing to A30, good results so far. NOT good results from "the first charger with A30 sockets" though, the Flywoo 6 way. Mine was seriously overcharging HV. Awaiting replacement. One thing I would say generically (so far) against A30, being black, its harder to see polarity to connect together in less than bright lighting, which is annoying, especially on said Flywoo charger which did not have visible polarity indication other than the shape which is hard to spot with hands in the way, being tiny and black. A30 body colour should be changed to a light neutral grey IMO, preferably with a higher temp nylon. Its one area where the white BetaFPV type wins. Also I'm a long term experienced solderer, but the black plastic the A30's are currently coming through with takes VERY little heat sink, even fast and "solder as a connected pair".

I made a mistake. I bought a beta FPV Cetus and saw that there was a 550 mAh battery that would fit the drone. But…. the slot is to small and I think a little to heavy. Any suggestions?

After converting a few batteries over to A30 I have some thoughts.( I am not the best solder smith but not the worst either. ) Tolerances seem to be all over the place on them. Sometimes the male terminals are far apart, sometimes so close it is very hard to get heat shrink between the terminals. Only real advantage of the A30 vs GNB27 is compatibility with BT2.0 chargers. Weight difference isn't significant enough for a hack like me.

Just buy pack of 5 Tattu 300mAh 1s batteries. BT2.0 on this plug very hard in charger and conector on Tiny whoop. Look like new batch of BT2.0 connector have slightly smaller hole in conector.

A similar thing like that came loose from cordless handset. How do I get it back in?

I don't know if this was an issue with Tiny Whoops quality, but Flywoo's A30 pigtails are so much stronger than Tiny Whoop's BT2.0 pigtails. I'm going A30 all the way.

it has a polarity protection shape sort of cheaper better than diode . But if the pins touch backwards i heard the esc fries instead of going dieedle deee . Dee dee when plugging in the battery . Cramming it in is ok . Ooops . I thought it was supposed to cram easy

How much it is A30 better to bt2.0 in resistance and flighttime. I want to know if a switch is usefull enough. Its not so big like from ph2.0 but how big is it in detail. Maybe an hover test and see how much different it is, that would be great😊

I'm not sure how that little tiny notch allows it to crush bt2.0 since it appears to be exactly the same thing, notch aside. Anyway I've got bt2.0 connectors so it's nice to be able to buy the a30 batteries for it.

I am so sick and tired of changing my connectors again. So annoying 😡. Just finished converting everything to GNB27 now they are going obsolete.

Is there a difference in flight time between the BT2.0 and the A30 connectors?

betafpv sells 10 connectors for 4.99$ retail. that alone would be less than 50cents. price will surely drop if you buy 1000 connectors.

Getting the bt2.0 to fit in the a30 isn't really that hard. Also saw a guy who found that you can plug a30 Batts into a gnb27. Its a bit smaller but still works but doesn't work the other way.

The problem with this connector is the fact that the GNB27 existed. I literally just finished switching all my 1s quads and batteries to GNB27 only for GNB to ditch the connector. What assurances do I have that this connector won't be ditched if GNB gets a hair in their ass again and decides to change it?

What’s the point if you want to buy these connectors they cost the same as bt2.0 (so far I see them slightly more expensive)? I’m about to make all my 1s batteries use XT30 connectors since they’re way cheaper, like half the price from most vendors. Tests of the the BT2.0 A30 & solid pin PH2.0 (folded pin is terrible) show tiny differences anyway

It really depends on the cost, but since the moment I knew these were coming, I thought they would be amazing. Also, Betafpv could just make theirs open source too now? *shrug*

It's a marginal improvement. It's essentially the same, but cheaper and available to other companies to use.

I put 20awg JST-PH 2.0 on my whoops, don't have any more current issues. I've melted crappy jst2.0 connectors before because of the current draw. I think it's mostly the trash 22 or 24 awg wire that's the problem with most ph2.0 connectors not actually the connector itself, it's just metal. That's hilarious everyone is creating all these new connectors instead of just fixing the ones that seem to be the standard already.

This is like preferring a knock-off XT60 connector not made by Amass… they are SIGNIFICANTLY worse! Upfront… I dislike BetaFPV, but all GNB did is create a connector with a worse conductor alloy and a significantly worse plastic quality. It was a race to the bottom price wise and the A30 performs worse long term and breaks significantly easier. I have tested this extensively for months and GNBs connector is inferior in every way, and it hurts me to say this… this isn’t open source or better, it’s just worse and only done for money, not to help the community. 😢

I read most of the comments by the fan boys but no one does any critial thinking anymore, it seems. - this video is full of claims but presents no proof that A30 actually ‘crushes’ VT 2.0. JB admits that both connections provide the same or similar current qaround 2:32 in the video but he is not providing any data or proof it bests BT 2.0. The only thing that A30 we can say about, is that it is open-sourced so may dominate BT 2.0 at some point down the road. I expect more from JB - he is good at testing and backing up his claims - it is simply missing in this video. I don’t even understand how it is better besides the commercial that this product will giv us more run time on the battery and more punch? How? Where is the proof (data?)?

I actually dislike the BETAFPV BT2.0 connector and new GNB A30 connector. Here is why: Safety and handling is for me more important then performance ! The GNB company is probably planning to replace the GNB27 with the GNB A30. This means that the GNB27 will probably no longer be produced. I think this development is bad. Everyone knows I find the BT2.0 and A30 very bad because they have such a super small pin spacing for the cables to be soldered. Not only is it extremely difficult to solder and insulate, no, in my opinion, it is also more dangerous to have a small pin spacing... (danger of short in a event of overheat or machnical stress). I will convert all my 1S hardware to GNB27, anyway that the GNB27 will eventually run out... The GNB27 has better pin spacing than BT2.0, and an XT connector has even larger pin spacing if you look and compare a virtually scaled down to the same size of a BT2.0 pins. And the XT connector is undoubtedly the best and most used connector in the RC sector at the moment...
