Most materials your able to peel off after it fully dries on the bucket. And shot blasting is normally a better prep than grinding just gives it a better profile but hand grinding does a great job also just more labor intense.

Pro tip: stop running the blaster in reverse. It was not designed to run that direction and will drop the large amount of shot you end up having to pick up in this video. Run it forward, and save a bunch of time by having to refill much less.

Epoxies cure very quickly when sitting in a pale due to heat generation (more material, more heat, hardens faster). Your sprayer will get ruined. Apply in the manner shown in the video to avoid wasting hundreds of dollars in coating materials. Source: 10 years as an epoxy floor installer

I don't know how thick it must be, most of the time we have contractors install an extra layer of plywood throughout. If you have any sort of flexing in your floor it'll Crack throughout. You would also need a special primer forbwood,not all epoxy sticks to wood. And my company also uses a flexible epoxy as well as fiber glass to ensure of no cracking. Slightly different than your concrete (preferred) floor

I used the grinding wheel from home depote. Worked good,just have to go over your work. Its alot cheaper to rent. That one looks like it is alot easier and less dust. Either way I swept up,vacuumed,then pressure washed. Let dry out for 3 days,swept and leaf blowed,did my patches and epoxy. Put a clear next,but I wouldn't apply the non-skid with clear coat. It will come out streaky.

So I'm intrigued.... I've seen your pour out WB sealer and spread with squeegie and have help to cut in around the edges with a brush. Usually this is when you're prepping the surface for doing a dirty pour. Why are you rolling in this instance..... I guess with rolling 1st coat of epoxy you're going for a nice finish surface?? fkkk Is it too thick or when spread does the finish leave marks that a thick dirty pour covers - in this case you need a lovely smoothe substrate? Also - you've recommended a cut depth transition from garage floor to outdoors before - to prevent easy chipping of the edge.... but here you tape off? Maybe a different team has a different take on what's good/bad/ugly and no single way? Just trying to learn :)

@@davidhorsley1149 Yeah... fair enough .. but from my experience, a wall to floor coving has nothing to do with cosmetics and everything to do with fluid containment. Unlike the video above, i run my tape flush with the floor and cut in with a brush. I personally think coating up the skirting board is lazy and looks amateur.
@davidhorsley1149
@davidhorsley1149 2 года назад
@@jayc1676 all to taste. My personal experience has been in higher end homes where the customer prefers some form of transitional trim between the walls and the floor. Though vinyl cove base is more of a commercial look, it provides the wall to floor "break", it's available in many colors to accent or contrast, and as you said, provides water protection when cleaning the floors.

@louismaselli8784
@louismaselli8784 2 года назад
Oh another question how does this product differ from Polyaspartic ?
@DaYayo
@DaYayo Год назад
@@louismaselli8784 I know it's a year later but incase you're still wondering, no you should not be applying that much pressure. Depending on the material you're using for the base coat, as well as how well the flake is sticking to it, more or less pressure may be applied. But I certainly wouldn't be doing what's shown in the video. Typically you can just run the scraper over the surface and allow the weight of the scraper itself to apply the necessary pressure. With that, I would recommend doing it in a crisscross pattern (one pass North to South, one pass East to West). Same thing is recommended for rolling the base and clear coat.
@DaYayo
@DaYayo Год назад
@@louismaselli8784 Polyaspartic is superior in nearly every way. The big factors being that Polyaspartic doesn't fade or yellow even when exposed to UV, where epoxy would. As well as Polyaspartic is very flexible while still being hard and tough, meaning that it wont chip, scratch or scuff. Other factors may include that when using epoxy, tire dents and prints will be made after a period of time. On the downside a few things I would caution against would be, 1. Polyaspartic dries quick, so don't do too big of a section at once. Keep it to smaller areas at a time; The section should be 1 pad, and the borders of that section should be the control joints if applicable. Otherwise, evenly thin out the edge of the line. That way when you come back to it, you can overlap layers without creating lines on the surface. Epoxy is more forgiving in that sense due to it's slow drying time. 2. Traction additives should be combined with the polyaspartic to prevent slipping.

Not impressed that floor will peel where you fixed those couple places with your fingers. The oil on your will not let that floor seal in those places.

You would have to grind it off or shotblaster to get it up to ensure a good bond!

Why would you put a clear coat of epoxy on top and not a urethane or polyaspartic. Epoxy can get scratched easily and is prone to turn amber from the uv rays

uv rays in a garage?? I would think it has something to do with the price delta between epoxy and urethane. Seems to look pretty good to me
@CrypticScott386
@CrypticScott386 3 года назад
@@troublelessone7999 yes all garages have garage doors usually 16ftwide almost 8ft tall that can let it alot of uv rays even your light bulbs give off some uv rays. And the price is almost the same they recommend a urethane topcoat on all their floors and countertops so why not the garage i am curious?
@CrypticScott386
@CrypticScott386 3 года назад
Plus urethane are more flexible which gives it great scratch resistance and is more prone to non-yellowing unlike epoxy which is known to turn amber from the sun and is more of a hard plastic like material which can get scratched more easily

Your right. It's not too late they could still apply a topcoat.

As a technician on shot blasters I can tell you, you shouldn't be leaving that much shot on the ground. Blastwheel could be worn or vacuum is not strong enough.

Rental store didn’t have an appropriate vacuum so we had to make do, for this reason exactly we will be selling our own line of concrete prep tools soon!

@@LeggariProducts Well let me tell you blastrac is a company you should look at for your blasting purchasing needs. Also when moving backwards you should close the shot valve, no matter how good the vacuum is blasting is only meant to happen in 1 direction. Great finished product though!

Too busy, makes me dizzy and gives me a headache. And good luck finding a bolt or screw or nut if you drop it on the floor, you'll never find it. Not practical. the traditional battleship gray with less flakes is far more usable.
