As you know I only brought one lens with me to this trip and I have to say. This might be my favorite wide-angle Full Frame lens EVER! It's not only very wide and perfect for vlogging but it's smaller and lighter than 90% of APSC lenses which is insane considering this is a FF lens. The construction and amount of dials and buttons would make you think this would be a more expensive lens.

I love how you color grade your videos. Whatever the topic is, it's always a pleasure to watch. Your grade gives your shots so much character and depth.

The monochrome is the secret sauce :P It saves some of the shots not gonna lie. Crazy how a small thing can make such a huge difference.

I think you’re using the Samyang 18mm F2.8. Some people are guessing the Sony 20mm and Viltrox 16mm, but those are not smaller than 90% of all APS-C lenses 😊

Your pacing and flow is on point with this series and I'm really enjoying it. That lens is the one. I was originally thinking it was the Sony 20mm FF prime but I peeked at your affiliate link. Nice, still a bit heavy in comparison to the 11mm Sony APS-C though. The 16 mm is a perfect focal length for wide angle FF and the autofocus also seems to be on point as well.

@@noisackda2564 Yep! I have a 20mm f1.8 G, so I figured grabbing the 11 1.8 would be good to grab for those moments that I need extra light. I tend to not have many lights on at home 😅

Man i would really like to see how you color grade these videos. I know you've done a break down in the past but I believe that was for Cine 2 or Cine 4 (cant remember exactly). I had the ZV-E10 and used the free LUT you put out but I have since upgraded to the a6700 which has the same sensor as your fx30. Now that I can properly use sLog3 (10 bit) I want to learn how to grade it. I've watched hours of tutorials on YT but my footage never comes out looking the same. I've even bought plenty of LUTS from different creators, phantom LUTS and even tried just using a color space transform in davinci resolve to start my own from scratch. I always feel like my highlights and shadows never quite look right weather I over expose or not. Its like your highlights and shadows have a smooth roll off to them that I cant seem to replicate. Its hard to explain but I feel like the highlights on my skin always have a bright glare and I dont really see that in your videos. I've even tried using a CPL filter to cut back the glare but it still seems harsh at times. If theres any way you could make a full break down of how to achieve your "look" I'd greatly appreciate it. Even if not man i still appreciate the content you put out. Keep uploading the videos you enjoy making instead of trying to follow the algorithm and your audience will be as genuine as you are!

Thank you for your support. Really appreciate it. Funny enough, in tomorrow's vlog, I say I'm not going to do another tutorial lol but I've been getting so many requests I just might do it :P Are you preloading a lut onto the FX30 to preview? That helps a lot. If your highlights are too blown out I would suggest not overexposing like what everyone suggests. I actually underexpose most of my shots because I'm afraid of highlight clipping. Also, when you are editing don't move the exposure slider around. Instead, move the Highlights, Shadows, Whites, and Blacks slider to get the proper exposure. Don't touch the contrast slider either. The exposure and contrast sliders are too harsh.

@@noisackda2564 haha supply and demand man 😂 but again if you don't feel like making one don't feel pressured. I appreciate the tips and will give them a try. I almost always adjust the exposure slider and contrast so maybe that may be the issue. As for the LUTS I do import them into my a6700 and try to film based off that but again that it hasn't worked for me so far. The image I get isn't terrible but I definitely see a difference in your videos compared to mine. Do you use a rec 709 conversion lut? If not once you adjust the highlights, shadows, ect do you manually add saturation? And one more question (sorry so many) do you adjust any colors (i.e make greens darker or orange more saturated) or add any kind of teal or orange?

@@leevictor13 :P I don't do much honestly. I just make sure my exposure is good and slap on a phantom lut and I'm pretty much 90% there. I will adjust the coldness and warmth a bit depending if I want to say something creative that's relevant to the story or If I simply want to add some artistic flair but I don't do much honestly. I have a specific look that I don't like to deviate from obviously. Once you find look that you like just keep working on it. It may sound easy the way I'm describing it but maybe that's because I'm so used to a formula I've developed. I don't follow numbers and percentages. I do everything by eye, that's why it always confuses me when people get technical like you should over expose by this much and that much. At the end of the day there are no rules, but yeah. Don't move around the exposure or contrast. For me, I never touch those. It just doesn't work for me.

Don't punch that lens which I "guessed" correctly :D - it's not its fault nobody buys it accept you :D Since you are a video first guy - do you take photos in addition in general on these kinds of trips (you mentioned yesterday your nephew helped you with photography, so I guess on this one you did do photos :D). I myself struggle to decide and since I'm photo first choice falls to photography and video afterwards. But since I recently throw in film photography into the mix, my choice is getting harder / complex :'D Great vlog as alwayes man! :)

Hilarious! "Nobody buys it accept you". You kill me. Good question about the Video vs photography. Photography was never a think until now. I would say the split is now 70% video and 20% photography and the other 10% action cam haha! It has gotten complicated for sure.

@@joeym4090 I'm very curious how the footage will color grade as well. I'm either considering that or the iphone 15 TBH. Both have LOG shooting options. For me, it will either be one or the other because I need a more discrete camera for the gym and indoor vlogging. Tough choices but what a time to be a vlogger.
