Best & Worst Motorsport Intro Tier List! 

I can't put into words how much am I addicted to the F1 intro and the theme, would love to be editing it one day, can't wait to see what they come up with for this season

Me at the start: "Ok I'm not going to let my F1 bias affect my decision" Me when the F1 intro starts: "DUUUUN DUUUUN DU DU DUUN DUUN DUUN DUUN DUUUUN"

I'd rank your FE intro Awesome; the only downsides I think were out of your control as the editor, so as far as your effort goes, undeniable top tier! So the 3 problems that you couldn't do anything about: - It takes too long for the theme to get going. The drop doesn't hit until half way through, just a bit too much build-up. It's also pretty short at 30 seconds, and again, half of that time is just build-up. The F1 intro for comparison has its drop hit at just 10 seconds in and the intro is longer, so it gives more time to show off each driver and for the viewer to enjoy the theme. - The FE theme is good, but Brian Tyler good? Nah. - The shots of the drivers are a bit too repetitive and unimaginative. Just them all turning their heads slightly and looking off into the distance (seriously, what's De Vries looking at?). I'd have shots of them training (e.g. weight lifting, skipping, g-force training etc.), to visualize them preparing to race!

You see better idents than the DTM one on most RU-vid channels!

Your custom Formula E intro was amazing, I'd put it into Top Tier as it highlights some of the best bits of a Formula E race.

Atleast DTM doesn't waste our time, I'll give a bonus point for that...

You should see NASCAR on Fox intros, they are better than the NBC ones Also see the 2019 NBC one, it was so much better with the "NASCAR as experience" idea that you said

that NASCAR one isn't the one that they use year-round, that was the one for the Phoenix Championship race.

You should do a tier list of the F1 intros by different broadcasters (Sky, C4, other countries) and may be some retro ones too (BBC, ITV, 1990's FujiTV etc.)

Not gonna lie, your intro is pretty good. A lot of shots with fans, which is cool considering that Formula E interacts with it's fans in a lot of different ways.

2018 F1 intro was the best. Best snippet of the main theme, doesn't feel awkward with the driver's just standing and looking at the camera.

The intro of the GT World Challenge Europe was missing. It hypes me every time.

I honestly think that the Formula E one deserves awesome tier, and one of the major setback is how long it is. I think that if they could have extended it a bit more and instead of putting just a title card that looks like a cookie-cutter they could have made its own screen with a bit of that FE blue in it. Although these are just nitpicks, it is great and the places title cards I think it does a great job in creating the sense that this is a world-wide sport.

The fighting in the NASCAR video I think should be included because it's something that occasionally happens after (and in some cases, during) a race, I mean, the race that really put NASCAR on the map, the 1979 Daytona 500, had Bobby and Donnie Allison fight Cale Yarborough after Bobby and Cale crashed each other out of the win

DTM's intro is like something you'd find out of a RU-vid channel

This is the most I've enjoyed one of your videos, your opinion is super valuable as a skilled filmmaker providing a breakdown of some of the editing techniques used for the various intros. Your use of sound effects in the Formula E intro with the crowd cheering and the wheel spin is top of the bunch by a country mile as it's so immersive. In my honest opinion, I think too much time was spent at the beginning on the drivers - it doesn't make sense to me when the USP of the championship is it's all EVs and exclusive locations to then feature some long held panning shots of drivers first up, rather than race broadcast footage or promotional B Roll of the cars in action. Your pacing throughout feels like it matches the theme music perfectly though, getting quicker cuts towards the end. I'd put it in the awesome category rather than top tier, purely as I think the first 6 seconds could be dropped altogether prior to the mandatory wide shots of city spaces you were told to put in. It would be smack in the face exciting from the off if you went from that lights out followed by close-up wheelspin clip and through the rest of what you edited as it's so exciting to watch! Your editing vastly outperformed the Formula E theme though to provide the emotion throughout, still loved it! Thanks for sharing this mate, much respect for what you do!

My all time favourite intro is the F1 2009-2017 intro. It's classy without the over produced graphics and the music is amazing.

Top tier. I love the dynamism, esp. how you synced in the crowd roar, and the image shift with the arrow right at the end. Also the transitions where a sequence slows down, to then pick up speed on the next one. I only found the first walk-in sequence a bit too clicheed. But love it overall.

Your FE intro works really well for the length of it, would like to see a longer version but as it's it gets you pumped (and I'm not an FE fan). Liked this video more than I thought I would, should do another video on lesser know series, I recommend the series I race at, Endurance Brasil, to be among them!

My favourite F1 intro will always be the Sky Sports one from 2013. Just Drive was a perfect fit for an intro. Gave me goosebumps before every race.

Best F1 intro song was "The Chain" without a doubt. I think all racing intros just do super fast cuts, blurs, random drivers looking daft, etc. I'd personally rather see like all the drivers quickly run down the line and then nothing but racing - ideally onboards and static "fast cams" during key overtaking moments from the last couple of years.

I wish the BBC F1 intro was in there as an honourable mention. Hands down the best intro ever made. No questions asked.

Your Formula E edit is definitely Top Tier, the editing is so clean and flawless.

The way F2 and other junior Formula series are structured is that they're meant to be pipelines for F1. It's pretty explicitly stated to be the end goal when the junior formula series were reorganized a few years back. That's probably what will make it impossible to make it have its own identity.

The FE intro was awesome, but I think it needs some more T-cam shots of close racing, the drivers was out of your control, you couldn’t film them doing what you wanted, which is why I think they need to have been doing things, like strapping up or hitting the gym or whatever. Your editing was good and the music was very good for the second half of the scene, very good overall. I know you are much better than I could ever be!

There's a clip of it on RU-vid somewhere, the 2014 BTCC intro used to get me absolutely hyped for another race, the music was incredible! Unfortunately changed, but it wasn't particularly modern so it makes sense.

Yours would be top tier IMO. nice music, great shots, right amount of effects and cuts. Also it's not neither too long or too short.

NASCAR has a pretty relaxed policy on fighting as it gets eyes and ears on the sport, NASCAR has ran with a “any publicity is good publicity” philosophy for a long time

I totally agree about the need of change of DTM intros. I have a small league race consisting F1, Formula E, WEC, DTM, WTCR and WRC and damn even the WRC intro music is longer than DTM intro. And the only intro music which can actually fight with F1 is literally Formula E, imagine they both swapped intro musics or mesh them up, that'll be kinda epic.

Every year when NBC takes over their half of NASCAR coverage they create a "music video" intro. Some are better than others.

You did amazing work with the Formula E intro! While you didn’t necessarily want to put the list of cities in, I think it works quite well and helps project the image that Formula E wants, which I guess is why they requested it.

I love the Formula E intros, deffo Top Tier! The only thing I would change is make the Formula E logo at the end bigger, in seasons past it's been quite small and sometimes tricky to read if you're not watching on HD (as I often am thanks to my wonderful wifi lol)

Cool how i think dtm is compressed, clear, good and fantastic. I'd say it's the best of em. Plus, in DTM it's not like f1, you don't need to hype. The races do. You just want a clear, fast reminder to press the logo inside the watcher mind. And a simple, flat bicolor but still much elaborate graphic acconplish the job perfectly

The best part of the F1 intro is when the music transitions into some sort of background music and Crofty starts to rundown the grid order.

I actually really do think the Formula E intro sequence fits quite well from an aesthetic point of view, properly capturing the busy and bustling feel of a racing series that is meant to be more clean and modern than traditional, and one that pretty much only races on street circuits. I do say I also like the start of it, as the pace makes it feel like it's almost charging up and launching, although it could have been compressed by a few seconds, but I don't know how much control you may have had. Overall, again, all the graphics and effects feel very clean and modern, and that is completely what Formula E is, as well as it feeling very much like you're in the zone racing through the city. I could probably analyze camera shots, but cinematography isn't really much my thing, but I will add that it immersed me greatly in the action with a lot of closeness to it. I do now realize mid-writing most of what I've mentioned is kind of inherent to the Formula E intros anyway as they've held a consistent form for a while now, which I literally just found out by looking it up, but you very properly stuck to that form and delivered from great touches, mainly from a cinematographic point of view. Great intro! - internet guy who has woken up much earlier than he's used to waking up at and consequently has a bit of extra time on his hands
