I love the comment I jet for power and not for spooge. Having the right kind of power and traction is more important then what's coming out of your tailpipe!
No doubt! Sure I would like a dry silencer but not if I have to change the way the bike runs and that's what happened when I went with JD jetting on this bike. So I went back to stock jetting and just repack the silencer more often.
Hi, nice video and thanks for sharing all the tips for the 200rr. I've my 19' 200rr at its 10hrs. Rejetted to 155 main n 138 pilot. When I check the spark plug it's still pretty dark in color.... I'm thinking to move the needles a click lower to further lean out the gas. The elevation I ride is around sea level to around 1000 meters, temperature is around 20 to 30 degree celsius most of the time. The terrain is very gnarly, any recommendation?? Thanks!!
Thanks. I love my 07 KTM 200xc. This would probably be the only bike I'd consider worth up grading to. How does it handle? My 200 is so flickable compared to my YZ250. Power is perfect for the trails in my area.
26 hours on mine thus far. Probably around 1/3 of that is just wheelie/pivot practice, sometimes with a shirt on if I'm feeling a bit bloated. Love the bike so far
Curious since watching you ride with snow covered rock what Rear Disc Brake Guard are you using if any on the 200 RR? It's not like you have alot of choices due to the application. Thx!
I haven't used a rear rotor guard in years! I always ended up bending the guard into the rotor. Now without one for at least 10 years I have no problems.
I've been happily binging on your videos the last few days, great content thank you. Would you say that the 200 is a good cross bike, trials X enduro? We don't do fast, we (try to) ride tight, steep, slippy, oh shit!, technical stuff. Your comments about the turning lock are interesting. I've watched Kyles vids and those switchbacks and the comments caused me to pause. If a trials rider is happy it can't be that bad. Shirley? As for the suspension... Can you do nice zaps and trials techniques?
If tight and technical are on the menu, then the 200rr is right tool for the job! I wouldn't worry about the turning radius. Kyle is the only person I know complaining about it, and even he says it's only an issue in 1 circumstance. The 200rr is an awesome little bike with plenty of low end to haul my fat 200lb arse around!
@@PrimalEnduro I currently have a Beta Alp 4.0 which suits my limited ability far better... I don't think I'll ever be good enough to deserve another enduro bike... although a 2020 Beta 390 RR may have my name on it! :D
So I made the mistake of buying a 450 as my first bike been shopping for a 250fx but keep seeing people say this is an awesome first bike to have...... thoughts? don't want to go down to a TT-R230 or something that small......
10 psi in both ends with Tublis. Bridgestone m59 up front and Dunlop d803 trials tire in the rear. We do use Trelleborg Winter Studded tires when the snow comes.
Are you still enjoying the 200RR? I am considering one. I switched from an 08 300XC to a 15 YZ250FX about a month ago. I miss the 2 stroke and am just not in love with the 250FX. Can’t really put my finger on why. Weight maybe?? I feel the 300 2 stroke is a bit much. YZ125 I had wasn’t enough bottom end. I’m a lugger like you.
ktm200xcw and I love it, its a 2013. Perfect for woods but struggles on track. Just picked up a 2020 250r as Im riding the track a lot more then trails. Would 10/10 recommend the bike
Great video! its my understanding that though it's comming with KYB, its not the same technology (SSS) that the Yamaha's and TM's come with. What do u know? i believe its KYM AOS technology
I believe that is a common misconception. SSS, AOS are nothing more than marketing terms used by different manufacturers. All hydraulic forks are speed sensitive and all twin chamber forks are "Air Oil Separated" Yes, there are minor differences in each flavor but overall the same forks. Your dad will disagree, but he bleeds blue!
PrimalEnduro Um not really, they may achieve the same goals, same as Ohlins makes a great fork and uses closed cartridge Twin chamber tech or WP cone Valve, it’s different but each can be as good as the other technology wise, AOS is Air Oil Separation it is a closed cartridge fork, no less maybe or more than SSS which is speed sensitive suspension, while all suspension reacts to speed stroke hits etc, they do function differently, unless a Yamaha tech or KYB tech confirms otherwise, the misconception is one maybe better than the other, both technologies are sound both are produced by KYB, but SSS was developed by Yamaha not KYB, this is why it is not an OEM technology for any other manufacturer. So short of it is KYB AOS product is very good, setup and spring rate is more important, most of us won’t be wanting with any closed cartridge suspension front or rear regardless of acronym technology or brand, only poor setup. 🤙
@@maverick2242 I could probably do a whole video just on this topic...and I might. But yes there are subtle differences and probably patents between the different flavors of KYB TWIN CHAMBER forks. I have the AOS on my 2019 from a 2013 Italian Husky and I had both done by the same tuner and they are both excellent for my terrain!
Hi, I will be buying 200rr, dealer can get 2019 and 2020 model. The 19 is about 1000$ cheaper. Do you think that is worth the money to go for 2020? Thank you Jakub
I would go for the 2019. same motor, lower seat height and better seat options,..... 2020 will give you slightly more fuel (1/2 gal)...If they offered the RE in the 2020 200 that would be a different story. I love m y 2019!
@@PrimalEnduro Thank you for quick response. I will take your advice. I am 193 cm so seat height is ussualy not a big problem for me. But if the motor and most things are same, than 19 is more than good for me! Big thanks and lots of good riding. J.
Depends on how many hours you have ridden it, if in doubt it would be a good idea. Do the piston/rings/wrist ping/bearing and all of the gaskets/o-rings. Plus, if it has the copper crush washers (replace them as well). CHECK the reeds to.
On my 300's I used to change at 100-120hrs and every time everything looked perfect....felt like I wasted money on new parts. For Tech single track type riding they last much longer than wide open racing application. That being said, I'll go another 10 hrs or so and do a compression check and see where I'm at. I have gotten 200+ hrs out of a 300 top end and everything still looked great inside.
@@PrimalEnduro 250 / 300 Betas raced in Europe, thrashed in Europe, are the same. New piston at the service schedule, old one is still mint. A lot of racers double the hours now.
Have you ridden a 2020 200rr? Curious of the turning radios difference. I am on the fence between a 2019 and 2020. I mostly ride my beta trials motorcycle, so I like to turn. I'm currently on a 2013 KTM 300 XC-W, and it turns pretty sharp. Only Beta Enduro I've ridden in a 2017 300RR... it turns less than my KTM, but acceptable. But any less would be a problem in the gnarly stuff. Has anybody done a video of the differences between the two model years? I remember one of your videos you said they made a lot of upgrades in 2020. Which bike would you buy right now?
From what I've seen the 2020 200rr's do not turn as tight lock to lock without a little modification. But I do know someone with a trials background who is riding one without any issue. The only complaints I've seen are the DBC guys on tight downhill alpine switchbacks. If you can get a good deal on the 19 I say go for it since the motor and suspension are the same...at least with the 19 all the Beta aftermarket parts will fit.
@@DerekHogan9 yeah, the bad batch of bearings is an unfortunate issue..hopefully beta gets there quality control on point for the the new bikes. Too many other high quality options for them not to.
I think the bad bearings were mainly late 17 into 18 model years. I know plenty of people with 17/18's with hundreds of hours on the bottom end so it's not all of them for sure. Also Beta will cover the repair!
@@PrimalEnduro Cool, I am by Newburgh looking to buy Beta 300RR or 390RR this spring 2020 and looking for people to ride with, I ride with my son. I will be in touch.
@@PrimalEnduro Whats most ironic about the KTM height issue, is even though its factual Orange Owners love to make excuses for what appears to be a deal breaker for others ?
Oh, and I admit when I am wrong, have been running the 14 tooth the last week and darn it, yeah, like it a lot more. Can still double double in 3rd gear coming out of a 90 degree corner and less than 10 yards of run-up.
