With the original BetaFPV LiteRadio 2 no that long in the tooth, the SE version gets rid of what many people were struggling with the weird OpenTX setup. But how do we set our subtrms and endpoint without it... let's find out!

Very complete review not only of this unit but comparison to the non SE version and the company response to calls. It does seem like a nice little radio that they don't really expect buyers to keep using for very long as they will outgrow it. Thanks for your honesty.

No worries. Yeah - it's a nice thing to have in a bundle with the goggles and a whoop (in fact they do a kit just like that) but it falls down when compared to a "proper" radio

ITs not nice when it doesnt function as per their instructions. It should be a good Tx for beginners. I would go withj new Iflight beginner Transmitter myself

Thank you soo much for a video that explains the protocol change *perfectly*! The first one had to be returned due to either user error or product malfunction...or both. This controller was sitting in its box till today. I have already changed the protocol to D8(3x flash) cuz it was on Futaba (4x flash). Now it is charging up. Later it will be bound to a Betafpv Meteor65 lite (silverware). Wish me luck. Currently it is bound to a Radiomaster Zorro! Awesome controller and still learning.

I've got the jumper T-lite and love it and I've also got the betafpv radio lite in bayang and frsky protocol's and they work perfectly.I buy a lot of betafpv products especially brushed motors and even though I know a lot of have had their fingers burnt I can honestly say I've not had a single issue with any of their products (yet).btw nice review thx Wayne.

Just to close the issue sucessfully. it worked, I changed the Steeringmodus of the betafpv literadio2 SE to Mode 3. There were some issues on the gimbals and the mainbard which does not fit, when you chage the gimbals. But you can make it work. Thanks to all who supported.

Great video, and I absolutely love BetaFPV - I've worked with them for years and they've been nothing but prompt and helpful. (You have to account for the difference in time - if you ask a question when it's after 6pm in China, you'll have to wait until the next day to get your response.) Great company though. A real innovator in the industry, works with all of us pilots to stay in the air. Thumbs up.

Thanks for the nice vid. Can one change the steering mode? e.g. Mode3 left stick roll/nick right stick yaw throttel...thanks

You can buy is as mode 1 which would put your throttle on the right stick. BetaFPV have this video about replacing the gimbals ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aQjLOgvARXk.html it looks from there that you could potentially move the strip which makes the stick spring back to centre - but not completely sure on it

It will depend on the type of receiver you are using. SPI rx's running d8/d16 will supply the RSSI signal to Betaflight (but you have to say the there's no RSSI channel in the receiver tab and just add RSSI to the OSD) if you are using an XM+ then it's just a case of telling the receiver tab which channel the RSSI is on and then adding it to the OSD

@@CurryKitten Thx for your feed! Is it possibile that since literadio 2 se has just 8 channels it doesn't support the RSSI? I have a xm+ receiver and I don't see any aux channel showing the RSSI strength...

I don't think it matters to be quite honest, but I'm away and can't test. Reason why is that the receiver itself it passing the RSSI signal back to the FC. It doesn't care if your radio can use that channel or not

You need to have purchased the ELRS version of this radio if you want to connect to the quad you've bought.

Not really - as this radio comes in several different flavours of transmitter protocol and quads may come with a receiver or you may have to put your own in there. So if you are looking to buy a quad and it comes with a receiver already installed then check what it is. In 5" race style drones, odds on it's going to be either ELRS or FrSky. If so then the ELRS or FrSky version of the radio should work with it.

Is there any way you could make a tutorial video on how to assign aux switches on this controller? I’m trying to build a mini quad with two cameras and a Vifly switcher, but not sure how to assign channels without a screen on the controller. It would make my day!!!

The switches are already allocated to channels, so if you go into betaflight modes and add a new mode with AUTO as the AUX name and switch the switch it should pick it up. I used to know exactly which switc hwas what channel, but I can't remember now.... in the worst case it would only take a few minutes to figure them out in the modes tab through trial and error

I think I did another video about swapping out the board so you could use ELRS instead of FrSky, but with the very low price of more fully featured radios such as th RadioMaster Pocket, I'm not intending to return to this one any time soon.

Depends which model you buy. Anything with a FrSky rx or ELRS depending on the version. What the best "starter" drone is depends a lot on what sort of flying you want to do and how much you want to spend. Personally I think going straight into 5" is the easiest way to go - just because of ease of getting spares/upgrades - but for an all in one smaller setup look at something like the Emax Tiny Hawk freestyle where you'll get a little quad that's been setup pretty easy to fly, goggles and radio

The negatives are way in the lead so far - I think a company that can really respond well to a problem wins more loyalty than a regular ok transaction, so it's a shame their response is not better.

I have this controller and I have been unable to get it to work with a simulator, the purple light comes on but when I open the sim to calibrate it doesn't do anything.

Purple, what you should be seeing and doing is: you turn it on and led goes from red to blue. Once it's blue plug in the cable and it should appear. What OS and version are you using, and which sim are you using ?

thank you for this review!! i'm very new in fpv world and i just bought this new lite radio 2 se for training on liftoff simulator, BUT , i'm a mac user and my mouse become crasy when i plug the remote... any solutions for that? Thx! ;)

As far as I can see (and I checked quite a bit) there's no easy way of redefining something that appears as a mouse as anything else on MacOS. So you get 2 alternative options. Firstly use a wireless wireless USB dongle - this is something that plugs into USB and you can then bind to it with your radio and it works like a joystick. The other other is a wired USB dongle, this should plug into the trainer port in the back (that little 3.5mm jack) I wanted to test with, but couldn't find any of my USB dongles, but they should work. Search for things like 9-in-1 or 22-in-1 Flight simulator

alainraguenes hi! No worries there’s no intrusions at all! So ya i tried with a wired dongle wich i plugged in the remote in 3,5mm jack then to my mac with an USB A port, BUT it still doesn’t work! And will not try with wireless one because it cost a bit more than 60$(cad) so it’s about the price of the remote... By the way after lots of email betafpv responded me! One guy told me it only works on Windows system...🙃 and an other guy asking me a video of the problem and answer me the technical team gonna works on it... So... patience may be an update for Mac users comming... or not😱🤷‍♂️ Anyway at this time it doesn’t work by itself and with a wire-dongle. 👋

BetaFPV told me they'd check with their engineer on this. I've connected it with a wireless d8 compatible dongle, and you should be able to connect with the 3.5mm trainer port to a different USB dongle.... but neither of those will charge as you play which isn't so good. Once I get a response from them (and I'll keep hassling) I'll do an update

Anything that runs D8 or D16 (although another caveat of that is that it'll need to be running the ACCST v1, not the V2 - but nobody wants to run the V2 anyway)

Customer service is poor. Took 1 month together a response. I now have the literadio 2 SE but like you, can not use on my Mac!! Did you get a solution or even a response ? I'm still waiting..........

Yes - they said they knew customer service had been poor and were hiring new people to attempt to address this. I told them about the mac issue, and they said they were going to speak to their engineer.... then when I followed up they'd forgotten to ask him again, and I'm still waiting for an answer to that one. I'll keep hassling them until I get an actual answer though

Yes, one model, but you can bind multiple receivers/drones to one model just fine. You don't lose your first receiver's bind if you re-bind another receiver to this.

That I don't know. The first one is still going and was used a lot for simming, but IIRC roll was always a bit inaccurate anyway

Not in a practical sense no. If the quad had been previously been set so that all the modes correspond to the correct switches and you didn't need any sub trim adjustment... yes, but that seems pretty unlikely

There's pretty much always some sort of betaflight setup to do. Do you have an Android device with an OTG adapter, you can run the Betaflight app from there?

hey sir exellent videos i have a hyperbola from brother hobbies iadded a archer rs reciever wich i use them all the tyme i am a ACCESS fan boy not boy choice tho lol ne ways i know theses recievers well and this one is being a jerk every method i try i can not get rssi in my osd on my qx7 i have both setup in a screens with rssi and the vfr and they are both working awsome but still no osd any tips buddy thank u very muchh love all ur vids from ontario canada thanks curry

Hey Andy - I've not used the Archer rx's before (which model do you have) I presume they are passing the RSSI back as telemetry to your radio but you also want this in the OSD of your goggles? Only bummer is it does not have a sling attachment . True its a light radio , but I found that not straining to hold the controller helps me concentrate on the sticks and not turn off any switches by mistake. I ordered the tyro79 , that comes with an identical controller , but I think ill be using the Radiomaster T8 Lite instead.

I've not seen that - which thread, this thread or somewhere else. The original radio is still going ok (although I think roll was always a bit off from the start) and that's been used a lot in a sim. But I'll keep an eye on this one

Bought the advanced kit 2 direct from BetaFPV, after a couple of flights the drone became unresponsive. It appears to have lost bind but wont bind to anything. It’s silver lite so can’t load a configurator to see what’s going on. Response from BetaFPV has been truly awful. Since I gave up waiting for them and said I wanted to return the kit they are not responding at all. My experience is don’t buy from them.

Did I? if you look at 5:07 I go through binding. It's a case of pressing the bind button in at the back which gives a flashing light to say it's in bind mode. It doesn't stay like that for long though, so have your RX in bind mode ready for it

Un motivo per cui non consigliarla: Non è in grado di utilizzare android joystick emulator ....quindi non può essere utilizzata su smartphone android con OTG. Provata con vari simulatori android dallo smartphone, ma niente da fare. Ovviamente se qualcuno riuscisse a farla riconoscere, mi faccia un fischio

Well, that told me :) The "call to action" at the start of the video is something that a RU-vid relationship manager advised I do. It doesn't mean "do a thumbs up now without watching anymore" it's a simple reminder to please leave some feedback at some point. The reason why this is at the start and not at the end.... which would seem sensible, is that by the end less than 30% of people that started viewing are still there. Thanks for you comment, I've left a heart for you.... I hope you don't not deserve a heart, because I won't change it.

Beta FPV is not a good company when it comes to hardware. I tried to work with their customer service and could get no assistance. As far as I could ever figure out is my Tx was defective but of course they wouldnt help with replacing my defective Tx either. Stay away from betaFPV. Not my first problem with their stuff, also had defective lipos from them.
