They might have just started following boxing when they heard or Usyk during is cruiser weight carrier, AJ, Canelo etc and then know of Mike Tyson, Lennox, Evander etc 😂 so they have no idea of previous fight cards.

*Here is where I disagree* I think a card can’t really be judged until the fights take place. Example, on paper the day of reckoning card was stacked full of a lot of heavyweights jostling to get themselves into contention but there was barely a competitive fight on the card, the bookmakers told us who was suspected winners where for most of the bouts. Compare that to Whyte vs Parker, a card which didn’t appear to be all that but had Conor Benn going life and death and Chisora making one of the most spectacular comebacks in a fight he was getting dominated in by Takam and of course the main event was breathtaking to the last punch. That proved to be a really good card by modern standards. So just like a football game like seeing Fulham vs Everton looks crap, if it finishes 5-4 everyone is going to be raving about how good a game it was. Where I agree the examples are great cards, I disagree in judging this until seeing it play out.

I remember 9th November 1996 being the best night of boxing I ever remember. In UK Prince naseem hamed Vs Molina and on same card Nigel Benn Vs Steve Collins. Then later that night in USA Tyson Vs holyfield 1, moorer Vs Botha, Akinwande, Ricardo Lopez and Christy Martin all on the same bill . I was only a kid at the time but I remember being intrigued at seeing fighters like Frans Botha and Lopez who I never seen of before. Lewis Vs golota was another amazing bill. Included Gatti Vs ruelas, a young Fernando Vargas and casermayo from Cuba. Amazing

Getting upset over "who's is better" is madness! The world really has gone soft! I think there's a serious amount of recency bias with today's boxing fans! Their opinion is, "I wasn't there, I didn't see it, the internet didn't exist, so it's irrelevant". Fight's aren't always judged on how much fanfare there was around it? Or high level technically? My all time favourite fight I ever watched, despite the tragic ending, was McClellan Vs Benn? I've seen "better" fights, certainly, you just had to be there at the time to understand what I mean? That said, i have hard time to recall recent fight bigger than Beterbiev vs Bivol ( in boxing perspective ). Bivol is hardly losing the round, Beterbiev has 100% KO ratio in world level. Beterbiev is quite old, but he is not showing it in fights, so we can assume, he is in his prime still.

LOL John Duplessis is a blast from the past. I remember him as a small kid. The first card smokes 5v5. You could have stopped right there. I think one of the problems with the card is that the fights have mostly been thrown together rather than being strategic or required by bodies. You need genuine needle for a good presser

These are what PPV cards should have been like for the last 12 years. A good card, sure...but as paying consumers, we've had our pants pulled down over the last decade or so.

You are comparing apples to oranges in terms of our periods of time. Time has allowed us to appreciate these fighters more so then they did in the 90s, giving us more time to appreciate them now. Give this card 20 years and we will be talking about how great it was at the time as you are talking about those former greats.

I will agree with u however what I think Eddie should have said was this is the greatest main event. Now i know most people will probably say Ali vs Fraser or thriller in manila which I can accept. But I will say this fight between Arthur and dmitry is the best fight that has ever taken place at 175 lbs I would Argue with anyone who disagrees. I would go as far to say that stylistically this is the best fight of the last 30 years

I agree that this card ain’t close to the greatest card ever. Matter of fact, I believe day of reckoning was even better and day of reckoning ain’t best card ever. Eddie is a promoter and he will do what promoter does. However, I liked the press conference and people around me got hyped for the card after the press conference. I do understand that the promoters spoke a lot and the presenter did too much, but I think the promoters sold the card well. My take

I’ve said this about the press conference. Dev was terrible as usually and they really need to stop hiring him for MC jobs. The other presenter is out of place and Ade should’ve probably been up there with David Diamonté Announcing. The masks were unnecessary and the promo was all we needed. Yes the fighters should’ve been allowed to talk more but I think it was quite embarrassing for some of them. I love the concept but they need to tighten things up a lot to make it last. I know Hearn is just setting up Joshua Wilder though and just going along with these sort’ve tournaments to get the money for other fights.

This is a great card but as a ppv does this reach out to casuals? I’m no so sure
