I understand the frustration of the American people but we have to be smart. If Bernie Sanders went 3rd party in the general election he would lose even if he had millions of popular votes he would still get ZERO electoral college votes. The system is rigged against a 3rd party. The only chance we got is to take over the Democratic party and change the rules. Ending the electoral college will allow more parties into the political system and getting rid of money in politics (public finance for elections).

There is already a Progressive party, started by President Teddy Roosevelt, who was elected as a Republican. It was founded in the eary 1900s on the principles of environmental protection, corporate regulation, women's suffrage, and worker's rights. The mascot is the Bull Moose, and the color is light green. He even ran for president on that platform, after having served as a Republican, and it sparked a small movement. Unfortunately, it did not last long. 100 years later, Bernie has renewed public interest in it. Although he is running as a Democrat, the word "progressive" is being used, and that causes people to look into the party.
