the writer actually put effort into this one, i'm shocked. normally they fall back on making the "betrayers" absolute bastards to justify killing them in cold blood even if the author transparently made him "strong japansese swordman" with an in world rpg system. also the art is quite good
Sounds like the priest might get told you lie on the lie detector test the way this is going. I don’t see any way they would give her up to please protagonist
@@casualdanattempts Basically this guy is another one of those idiots that try to do political comments all the time, Ben Shapiro is a "speaker" of the republican part of USA, kinda annoying how they can't just make a comment without trying to be political and only for 90% of the people to not care or not know the comparison.
This guy had so many things go wrong in his life. Like, your family and clan abandons you because you aren't getting stronger, then you were kicked from a party that you were invited to in the first place before then getting betrayed by them later on as bait. And the way the guild receptionist acts is flat out disrespectful. Loved it when she became afraid of the mc after he laid out the gold and was slowly letting his madness take over as he told her to get a priest that can use lie detection. Hope there's more parts.
@@TKUltra971 I mean, not exactly. Yeah, the money makes the world go round and all that, but there's only so far money can get you. It can get you pretty far, but only for so long.
@@Devilhand21 Yeah, it got him the Guild representative to shut up and a preist that can reveal lies to exonerate him. I think that's a big spin of the old globe called earth lol
And, he immediately picks up a damsel in distress with no notable skill but to be a magnet for trouble. Useless. She is the White Lotus conscience, too. What a let down. That's why Reaper of the Drifting Moon and Pyo Wol are the best. He does not discriminate against any gender. They are all equally his victims. And, they all end up deader than door nails.
In the novel the sorceress is revealed to be much worse, even being the one to spread the parasite rumor and make the MC believe the elf was the one who did it instead.
It also quite hints that the elf knew someone spread the rumor but she didn't try to prevent or correct it, even if it'd break their party apart and cause the problem to everyone in the party. So she also a d*ck head as well.
THIS got cancelled?! this is gold. he didn't run to another town, he didn't forgive them like a regular "golden saint" mc. they screwed him over and he snapped back instantly, with facts no less. please tell me we are gonna get more, this is good writing.
I love these stories where the author puts actual care and effort into these, its just with the current shitty community that just wants those basic stories the op protags and generic plot for a swift dopamine rush, all these amazing stories are usually ruined to fit with the communities wishes or abandoned leaving the actual fans of these stories depressed and annoyed causing them to see the other stories as overly boring and no longer entertaining
im sorry but none of the logic in this story after his family kicked him out made sense. a guild kicked someone out because he was doing quests? people accusing him of being a parasite when he was contributing to the party? he got robbed and forced into drug trade cus a group of 40 gangsters always walk around in the middle of the city robbing people?
@@cooltjh4 the guild kicked him because he sucked and counldn't complete quests, being a parasite because he was useless and people thought he would leech off others successes, average Tuesday for me
14:15 God this segment was so good, i really wish this was a demon lord birth. I think a senseless madness embodying an unreasonable rage where he cant even recognise who he was before duento the maggots mangling him wouldve been such a good villain origin story. the art really conveys that initial feeling, hell a mental conflict between this mangled vrrsion of himself or aka the dragon and sora wouldve been so cool. The rest of the story was written well though
Betrayal comes in all forms. So one way or another. You'll get betrayed. You learn from one, the other one is gonna be brand new. A new lesson that will hit you even harder. That's how it works. After a while your heart will just stop believing in good.
@@justarandomguy7580Or you simply learn to take the blows and move on. One way or another, you will adapt. Whether that be by closing yourself off entirely, or becoming strong enough to tank it.
@@justarandomguy7580 Generally it's better to learn how to deal with it. Closing yourself off entirely will only bring up even more problems within yourself. I would like to clarify that nothing ever "makes people stronger". It's just that the person will sometimes decide to become stronger in the face of adversity. The moment of extremity that allows people to bypass the common sense and subconscious that would otherwise usually hamper their minds. And some people just grow up strong, never having the same limitations of their subconscious placed on them due to the environment they grew up in.
@@muhammadnasruddin4434no. I think he like myself and others love it when aholes get their justly deserved karma from someone they wronged. Getting revenge on those who wronged you is always satisfying. Idk why you think he likes to be cheated
@@wedoalittletrolling3755 Nah, not even close. This guy has literally been eaten alive, and his solution was "Imma defeat you BY EATING YOU FASTER". Compared to this torture, Makoto's awakening is tame af.
Sounds more like Zanpakuto awakening to me. "Souls", sword techniques, the entity that lives in every person, and those within the same bloodline have similarities in those entities ("Dragons" for Sora's family).
Poor sora at the end. Escapes giant bug due to inner soul eating dragon urging him to devour them all, only to be hit by his newest enemy, a door to the face.
Sure it’s the same old generic cookie cutter betrayal/revenge power fantasy but it did nearly everything right. The art style was really good too. Such a shame the magazine cancelled the serialization. The web novel is good too but I’ll really miss this artwork.
@@palamecianrider7385 At readnovelEU it has 113 chapters translated to English. But that’s out of 307 and it’s still on going so English readers are far behind.
Well if mc being capped at level 1 is right then I don't know. It was Pretty cringey to me. Like even a normal villager can get past that level yet he was kept as that. I mean its not even relatable at all like you guys are saying. Like if he was just a normal human with average states wanting to level up then its a different thing , but lvl 1 ? Yet its cringe
@@reedratan Read the novel, there’s a lot more explanation. Because he has dragon’s blood from his mother’s bloodline. Dragon’s level 10x slower than humans but each level he does grow his stats also 10x stronger. Humans have a level cap of 99. So when he’s level 99 he will have the stats of a dragon of level 999.
@@IsekaiApostle thats more the reason the story is stupid, just bc it takes more exp for him to grow, doesn't mean he cannot get stronger. And here our mc was collecting grasses. Even level 1 dragon would be far stronger than level 10 human. And his former party members are around 6.
Im here with an update guys sorry to tell u all but theres only 2 more chapters to this and the level 35 dude try to save those guys but sora stands his ground and that elf girl try to beg for her life he says noo and walks away that's all happens
some other comments say the comic was just to promote the light novel which has over 100 chapters translated. but since this dumb ass channel doesnt post the names of the books he is ripping off for content, good luck finding it
I really like this story so far. I'm writing a series that also has an MC fighting to use his power while not becoming a complete edgelord. I put a wee bit more romance in mine.
I like the idea of more gray areas for betrayal. Yes, his family betrayed him and cast him out. They could have been better to him. But they live on an island with the sole purpose of preventing invasion. The members of his party are despicable, however, the guy doesnt seem to bear much sin. He listened to those he has known for a long time, albiet, over a guy who pushed hard to join him without wondering why he trained so much but wasn't in a party. His sin was putting the MC in a bad position, pushing him to trust them, then listening to his friends spread rumors (not knowing they were rumors), and when he trusted them and openned up, abandoning him. The wizard girl and the elf specifically are the demons on his shoulder who pushed the later events after the guy asked him to join. The childhood friend on the otherhand is simply protecting her friends and as a result, their evil deeds. Notice how she goes silent after the admition from the wizard that she was guilty. There is more developed characters in these 10 chapters than most stories have in 100. Even the Kijin was not strictly evil, despite being the first stage of a "demon," showing debth in both the characters and the world as a whole.
In fact the elf is the most innocent of the 3, she never did anything bad and in fact she liked the protagonist, the bad ones were the magician and the warrior priestess.
MC never wanted to join Lars party since he was aware of his own condition from the start. Also, Elf was the one who started the rumors despite not being openly hostile towards him.
This was cancelled cuz it peaked where this video ends. The guildmaster denied the request for priest without giving back the gold. They made up a lie to cover for the party like the mistook the mc as a monster thats why they attacked him. Guildmaster also threatened the mc until the mc backed off. Its sht. Even later down the story when mc got them enslaved but theyre basically with him with no dialogues or interaction other than slave duty. Story dropped off real quick
Guild master tried to hush Sora with a bogus rank advancement rather than risk the possible hit to the guild's rep that would come from making Lars's party own up to their crimes. When Sora refused, because he knew that the guild would go right back to treating him like trash at the very first opportunity, the guild master went to making threats against Sora for his "bad attitude," at which point Sora left the place in a rage and made it his life's mission to make bothi his former party and the guild pay for denying him justice. Lars, the self-righteous hypocrite, forces Sora into a duel, wagering the elf priestess, and Lars loses, cause he can only see Sora as Lv2 rather than his real power. Of course, when mosters start coming from the town in waves, Sora makes a point of defeating them, saving lives, and then making it crystal clear how the guild did him dirty, which wrecks the reputation the guild master was so concerned about. Sora does give up his grudge against his former party when Lars comes clean, admits he's not as righteous as he wanted to believe, and asked for help to stop a particularly dangerous monster outbreak. As for Sora's home island? Yeah. That tribe isn't anywhere as noble or righteous as they hold themselves to be. Any more than that would be spoilers.
I'm not crazy, this is the same artist as Youjo Senki, right? I could never mistake Tanya's eyes (and well the rest of the artstyle too, but that gaze is so unique...)
The books of Youjo Senki were super sad. In the books she wasn't some op magic user. She joined the army to avoid starving to death, shared her chocolate stash with her starving men. She compared her enemies by the potatoes their country grew and the small one she kept in her pocket. She did everything she could to keep her men alive.
Actually the girl needs to shift blame to the guild. With a defense of entrapment. They knew thier people were disappearing and betrayed them to save money not sending in high ranked adventurers. So it doesn't matter if she lied to the guild to avoid blame as they did far worse. And even so it was a illegal act she was forced into that immpossible situation by them having to take drastic measures. And if she didnt then no survivors or murdering her friends to escape which is far worse then a rando being sacrificed to save the kingdom. Which again the guild negligent actions almost destroyed it.
Of course none of that matters because as soon as they saw the lord of the flies monster. All the c rank adventurers disappearing in the forest, they had found their answer now. Their groups sole job was to investigate and have the information delivered back to the kingdom. Even if the kingdom mobilized a strong enough force to fight and defeat the monster at a later date. They would still have to deal with locating the nest by lunching multiple expeditions into the forest just to clear it. by then it might already be too late and they have to deal with another lord of the flies monster.
@BladeMasterIcarus Do to the kingdoms of that world exist at all shows they are competent dealing with this. But the guild blinded them with their negligence and endangered thier people sending wave after wave of not the best to thier death. That guild leadership should be solely blamed for everything.
I've read it all. The Guild Master seems to be the mlsy reasonable and while Sora seems like he is an unhinged Joker esq charecter. Sora had be constantly pushed down throughout his life and his breaking point was being devoured alive and reconstructed with a soul consuming dragon possessing him. Man is reasonably crazy so its just a villan's pov story.
Got cancelled due to budget on the original magazine where it was published, a "remake"(same history just restarted in other magazine and other art style(big L)) was in talks but there has not been news about it :(
@arcerus22 said "sadly this only had 10 chapters before it got cancelled. Supposedly itll be serialized from the start at another date, but nothing concrete"
Its probably good that they abandoned this i read web novel but its meh e erything goes downhill after current chapter. After reading whole of chapters you will be left wondering when he will be exacting revenge. Instead of exactibg revenge he keeps on doing random shit that does not make sense
I don't care if you think you're a kind person. If you don't call out people around you for being absolute a-holes, then you're no better at the end of the day. You're just someone who's selfish pride in the fact that "you're not like the others." Weirdly, a lot of mangas always have this trope of having a single kind person in a group of absolute douchebags. Real good people don't tolerate their friends being crappy to others.
It's to bad the adventures don't have the ability to use appraisal and find out if the back stabbers of the MC need to wear brown pants. I know I would. lol

It appears they will want to continue this work in some form of comic following its current cancellation. The writer/company put out a message apologizing to those who were eager to see the work continued.
