The relationship between Chuck and Jimmy is so complicated and so interesting to analyze and look into what happens in the later seasons between them. Honestly a genius show
It's really a genius show!! I love how you never know how people will react and you can only speculate how exactly it will play out!! The series never shows its cards fully, I love that!!
I was actually pulled in much more quickly in this show than in Breaking Bad. It was really fun to me to see this character that is the same as a character we already know, but it almost feels like we don’t know him because of how interesting. I loved seeing those little pieces of Saul start to come into Jimmy. Also, the scene with the toilet in the guys garage is the hardest my childish brain has laughed at either show in a long time.
One of my favorite shows. It is amazing that the writing and story can be so good for both BB and BCS. Different types of stories but the depth and intensity is there in both. Thanks for reviewing this!
Glad you’re reviewing this series! The writing is exceptional in BSC (no surprise) but yes it does take a slow burn ride thru it’s dramatic story. S4 is probably my favorite of the series so far!
HOLY COW I literally searched your channel for better call saul reviews just now because I'm watching this series for the first time and you uploaded it just now 😲😲😲
My favourite show EVER!!!!!! Such deep character studies, you never really know what the characters are up to next, you just get to observe and soak it all in in real-time!! Sort of like a modern-day western, only a 100 better! An absolute masterpiece of writing, acting and cinema!!

better call saul is right up there alongside breaking bad as one of my favourite shows of all time. I’ve said this before but I think that the breaking bad universe is the best piece of storytelling I’ve ever seen
I love this show, but every time I rewatch the first 2 seasons, I just can't help but feel that slow burn. You shouldn't expect it to be Breaking Bad because it's apples and oranges. Sure, even BB had episodes that were slower, but served a purpose still. And Mike is one of my favorite characters in all of BB, love seeing his backstory. This season definitely could've ended on a stronger episode.
Every episode in season 1 served a purpose, even better than breaking bad at many points. Season 1 of better call saul is basically film school, all lines layed down are carried all the way to the end, great writing.
Awesome review can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series. I need to start with season 5. Also side note was mikes first appearance When he came to help Jessie with Jane?
This show does a great job of establishing itself as a connected, but separate, thing from Breaking Bad. It also does a great job of setting up a less manipulative and sleazy Saul/Jimmy, making him somewhat honorable while also making his flaws very clear, in that he enjoys the thrill of breaking rules and making his own choices. Everything that the show does with Mike, his family, and his connections to crime was all very interesting and fun. I really like Nacho, Howard is bizarrely smarmy, and Chuck is the perfect foil to Jimmy. Also, Tuco Salamanca showing up was a surprise that I enjoyed, and it was fan service that made sense in the context of the story. I don't love Kim in this season, not because she's bad, but because I don't really buy her and Jimmy as great friends. I do in later seasons, but in this one, I just don't. I also deeply despise Daniel "Pryce" Wormald a great deal. I know I'm probably supposed to, but I just can't stand him. Overall, it's pretty slow, but it's really good.
This show took me a while to get into. I think I tried watching the first season 3 or 4 times before I finally was able to get through it and continue. Overall though I really enjoy it and am excited for the final season.
Funny, I felt totally opposite. I was way more interested in the lawyer stuff from the get go. I guess it's because I enjoy lawyer shows in general, while BreakingBad at times feels like a family drama. And I really hate those. Plus Jimmy McGill is so much more entertaining compared to Walter White.
I don't mind BCS not having its foot on the gas out the gate like Breaking Bad from the get go. I just finished S1 (finally!) and really enjoyed it. I can be patient. Mr. Robot is my second favorite show next to Dark on Netflix and that didn't get crazy until S3 and S4. I don't mind staying patient knowing I'll be rewarded.
So many people are missing out on this show because of the slow burn story telling. its a shame people don't have the patience with these type of shows...the wire for example
@@jamesg8175 I think the part where it really grabs the audience wouldn't work half as well if time wasn't taken to set it up thoroughly. The payoff just wouldn't be as satisfying or interesting
Great review Sean, u communicated what I’ve been thinking in my head. I was thinking that BCS writing may be even better than BrBa But why is breaking bad so much better in my head. It’s just the entertainment, at the end of the day TV is entertainment And breaking bad was so entertaining And was greatly written as well. Better call Saul in season 5 gets to the intense and entertainment scale Breaking bad was at from episode 1.
Just started watching better call Saul for the first time now it’s all on Netflix. Just finished the first season. It’s decent but it is slow. Looking forward to when it picks up later on. Just waiting for gus to come into it because I’m guessing that’s when it gets breaking bad good
well if you want non stop fast paced action , watch a movie. this tv show has layers and stories to tell and they take time. i like a slow story as long as its worth it and bcs and bb are worth it
Breaking Bad is the immature, impulsive, overly dramatic teenager Knucklehead, who has no attention span! Better Call Saul is the well-aged connaisseur taking his time exploring the different tastes and diving deep into the nature of things!! Imo a good way to describe it!! 😆 One can feel that Vince Gilligan has become a much more mature storyteller in his second series!!
I’m almost done with season 2 of better call Saul and it’s pretty good. I really enjoyed season 1 but season 2 has been slower so I’m looking forward to when it gets really good.
Of the first 3 seasons, I would say season 3 is the best and the fastest moving. There's a lot more in the drug world and the stuff with jimmy and chuck really heats up.
one thing ill give this season over breaking bad is that all the characters are absolutely sound, unlike walter's immediate/extended family especially in the early seasons
The lawyer stuff was also pretty interesting and I enjoyed the Kettleman stuff quite a bit. It was pretty funny. Even once it gets into the Sandpiper Crossing stuff, it was still enjoyable. I also don't like the actor. I didn't think he was funny in The Office, and I certainly don't think he's funny here. Overall, it's certainly not as good as Breaking Bad, but it's still very good.
I actually prefer better call Saul now. Simply cause I like the characters more. Between Marie, Skyler, and Jessie.....BB is almost unbearable to me now....where as I love every aspect of BCS. I still love BB and Walter white. But I don't think I can watch it again. I really can not stand Pinkman
I’ve only seen the first 4 seasons, and I think it’s a good but highly unfocused show. It wants to split time between two vastly different worlds that don’t really interact enough for me to think it’s particularly justified. However, the S3 McGill rivalry is amazing, Kim and Jimmy’s relationship is done really well, and it’s nice to see more of characters that didn’t get a lot of screen time in BB. Good, but doesn’t have the push for me to call it great.
I don't think that it's unfocused in the slightest, since the two different worlds start interacting more and more the farther you get in the series. Season 5 is the best and the most intense season where the two worlds definitely interact a lot.
It’s on my main channel. Sometimes when I do these season reviews on this channel I’ll post one season on the main channel to raise more awareness and drive more traffic to the others
I watched only 7eps of the first season! It was sooo boring but good , when i heard that walter and jesse will cameo in s6 I just watched the whole show in a couple of days
I love to hang out with characters and get to know them deeply just by observing them!! It's just exactly the type of show I adore!! Almost like a western, only 100 times better!! 😊
