My sister had BC 23 years ago. She had over 32 lymph nodes removed. She did her radiation and chemo. All was good for 23 years. Problem is, she never went back in for yearly checkups or mammograms. This past August she had severe back pain. Got stuck in bed. Ambulance had to come get her. She had to have her back stabilized with a rod (her spine was disintegrating). There was a large mass on her hip near her spine. They had to leave that. Long story short, she has Stage 4 BC in same breast which has metastasized to her lungs the mass on her hip and several other places. If she had had her mammos regularly and checkups, they may have been able to catch it early. If she had paid attention to the pain in her back and hips months before August, they may have been able to help her sooner. Now it is a waiting game. PLEASE get your regular checkups and mammos. Leslie was an incredible person. She left a gift for all of us.
"If It Looks Like A Horse, Walks Like A Horse and Sounds Like A Horse, It's Probably Not A Zebra" I am so happy you are happier with your new team (oncology and neurology). Some of this is scary, other parts of it outweigh the scary because it seems like it is under control. Regardless, I pray for you and Mo and the pups always. You look great. Keep on doing what you are doing. Love to you all.
