For having no gore, no onscreen kills, and being mostly in the daytime, this movie was an EXCELLENT horror film. So much to unpack!

This is probably considered more of a cult classic. Paula Prentiss interjected some great moments of humor here. She was always a joy to watch on screen. The editing cut from the pre strangling of Joanna to the grocery store is always chilling. Then the zoom in to Joanna's lifeless stare at the end is classic. Thanks for being only the second as far as I know to react to this film. It's always important to look at a film in context to the time of it's release. I highly recommend you check out a nice little hidden gem psychological thriller from 1972 called The Other (not to be confused with the Nicole Kidman film The Others). It's free on RU-vid right now.

Conveniently, Nicole Kidman is in a Remake of Stepford Wives. A dark comedy.

Sh!t. Sorry my fellow beardo, but 2004's gonna be a tough watch. Seeing a lot of talented, smart people faceplant THAT hard hurts. Even worse because I don't think a version that wasn't already studio'd to death is even commercially available 😕

Just watched this for the first time on Creature Features here on RU-vid. It was really slow in the middle but the first and end were really good. That was one of the criticisms back in the day, that it dragged pretty bad. I know I saw the remake, I don't remember it at all. In my mind I remember the remake of the women becoming ghouls, like they fall apart. I don't even know what that movie was I'm remembering but after watching this I was like 'Ohhh, that was the remake'. It worked out because the ending was a complete surprise to me, vastly improving the ending.

The most disturbing part is when the kids get on the bus. Are the kids killed and replaced with robots also?

I think that having Stepford parents fucked them up

Great video as always! Y'know, I did never see the original. I remember seeing the remake, but I was only like 14 then. I remember it being...okay? But somehow I had completely forgotten the premise. I don't know if they changed anything in the remake, but if I couldn't remember the premise, I honestly am wondering how good of a job they did. Original seemd great, though...oof!

That's why I wish they'd called it "The Stepford Whites". Probably wouldn't have made as much money, though 😆

I loved what the Psychologist said to Joanna, Get the script filled, get the kids and get the hell OUT of Stepford.
