I had my Aquablation about seven weeks ago. I had a 80cc prostate with a large median lobe. I'm 67 and started having BPH symptoms in my late 40's. I took medication for over 15 years and it worked well but the last 4 years have been a challenge. After multiple prostate infections, I knew I had to have some sort of procedure. After testing and talking to my Urologist I narrowed my choice down to Holep and Aquablation. I chose Aquablation because of the low side-effect profile and the fact that it has shown very little retro ejaculation risk. I didn't need any pain medication at the hospital or at home during recovery. Spending the night in the hospital is never any fun but I was discharged the next afternoon without a catheter. Recovery went pretty smooth. Most of the significant bleeding is in the first 3-4 days, there was blood in my urine for about 3 weeks. Just like TURP, there will be some blood clots and scabs that are washed out when you urinate. At first it did burn while urinating, but I didn't find it all that bothersome. I used to get up 3-4 times a night to urinate. Now I'm down to 1-2 and I imagine that will get better (my Urologist said it can take up to 6 months for the bladder to adjust). I used to strain to start my flow, now it takes just a second or two. I also completely empty my bladder, which will definitely keep those prostate infections at bay - and yes - I can pee like a 20-year-old. It's not a walk in the park, but it's worth it. Best of luck to all!

How are you now?

@@sirus312 Terrific! My chronic prostatitus has disappeared, I can now go about 4+ hours without looking for a bathroom (which means I can now go on longer road trips). I walk in the morning and I can now go on much longer walks without turning back for home because I need to use the restroom. I get up once a night but I think that's just habit - I may sleep through the night soon. PSA has gone from 2.6 to 1.1. As you can tell I'm VERY pleased.

You did not say anything about retrograde ejaculation if you still sexually active .
@joelmiller3174
@joelmiller3174 Год назад
@@politicalphilosophyclub I did not suffer any retrograde ejaculation. I am still sexually active and sex is actually better than it was before aquablation. I did suffer from prostatitus before aquablation, which made sex uncomfortable but that went away at about the three month mark. I did experience RE from medication I was taking for BPH but that went away after I stopped taking the meds. Sorry to hear about your RE.

I'm 71, had aquablation this week for my Jupiter-sized prostate. Discharged after 24 hours, catheter removed the morning after that. Now I knocking paint off the walls, no clotting, only a few drops of blood. I had forgotton how good a high-pressure stream and an empty bladder felt...

I had the Aquablation procedure 11/19/23. I’m in Western Pennsylvania and had to travel to Columbus Ohio area to the closest doctor and facility doing Aquablation. I’m only 6 weeks out, and voiding with a great flow now, and without any complications. My prostate was 125 grams with a large median lobe. I spent two nights in the hospital after the surgery because of my distance to my surgeon and the hospital. I researched my options to the best of my ability before choosing the procedure and the doctor. I chose well.

As a man who has a catheter inserted at the moment. This video has been informing, inspiring and emotional. I'm hoping I'm the right candidate for aquablation.

My Urologist first recommended the Itind procedure for me. It seems I do not have a very large prostate ,45cm with a median lobe and overactive bladder. I’m 70. For the last decade I’ve had to get up at night to pee 2 ,3 times. Never empty ing completely . During the day drinking water I’ve had to go it seems every 15 minutes. I had to plan my day around a head somewhere or just find a tree. A horrible way to live. My Medicare declined the Itind. Twice. The most minimally evasive procedure out there. So now we have the Aquablation procedure on the schedule. I do have the median lobe though so not sure what he will do with that. I have to trust him though at this point. Great video.

S/P AB 10 days. 70 y.o., 44 gm., high median lobe. Still bleeding, less daytime, more a few hours after dinner, esp. after restarting (yesterday) a half dosage (10 mg) of my xarelto (afib, arrhythmia, 4 cardiac stents). Better stream, but freq'cy, espec'ly at night approx 1x/hr. I'm in Florida, wishing I had seen Dr. Hillelsohn's info before my surgery. Hoping my uro did 2 passes on surgical field (better outcomes) and that AB was the right pick. Time will tell. "Depends" are my new best friends😂. Combining different procedures when needed makes so much more sense as an approach to treatment. Thanks for excellent info.

Excellent video! I am moving back to Costa Rica later this year. I am 77 and in excellent health. I had UroLift 3 years ago. Knowing now what I know about UroLift, wish I had TURP! Finding myself heading to the bathroom more frequently. Waking up once per night. Current medication Myrbetriq and Flomax Thinking Aquablation is a better for me than TURP! Have an appointment with my Urologist on 2/29 and will discuss Aquablation. Two months ago he suggested doing UroLift again and I said “No”. Dr. Naveen Kella is the Urologist here at The Urology Place San Antonio, Texas doing this surgery. Will try to make a appointment with him after my 2/29 appointment with my Urologist. One of the first questions I’ll ask is “When will I have to return to San Antonio for a future surgery?”.

How much does this procedure cost?

Apparently the likelihood of retrograde is minimal because of how precise the equipment is so not sure why that happened to you. I have a supra pubic catheter and I wonder if there is a benefit to having it or will it get in the way. I guess it might benefit me to keep it in the 1st week or so , so that I’m not having to run to the toilet 3 times at night. Hopefully I get an answer to that question.

Best treatment for BPH with the least amount of side effects please. Our urologist said TURP will leave my husband with possible incontinent and no erectile function. He’s not that old.
