I had aquablation surgery 5 weeks ago. I am so satisfied. Exceeded my expectations. I’m 60 years old. Dealt with prostate Issues for 20 years. Prostate 5x normal size, and median lobe was pressing into bladder causing a ball valve effect (which makes you not able to pee). Ended up in hospital for a catheter numerous times. (This was the issue that made surgery the only option for me) After surgery i was Out of hospital in 2 days. Catheter was removed 3 days after surgery. Recovery to this point has been steady. First week was uncomfortable, but not to point of needing pain meds. BTW, nothing related to the surgery was even close to the the pain of not being able to pee! Second and 3rd week recovery was better every day. At 5 weeks my quality of life is so much better. Urine flow is no longer an issue. It really is back to what it was when Before any prostate issues started. I am so satisfied. Wanted to share this as i know i really struggled as to what I should do. I decided on aquablation because i like the accuracy and limited risk of issues. For me all My expections are exceeded. I would not hesitate, based on the results I’ve seen in 5 weeks to undergo this procedure. Ray

Thanks for sharing! Why did you need a two night stay? Always seen one.

@@garycortesi8406 Hi Gary My prostate was very large. And the median lobe was well into the bladder. In order to leave the hospital they like to see the bladder clearing up and level of blood in urine decreasing. They irrigate the bladder constantly while you are in the hospital. In my case the doctor wanted on more day as a precaution. I was able to have the catheter removed on schedule. It’s now about 8 weeks since surgery and I could not be happier. Hope all is well with you. If you are dealing with prostate issues that are hurting your quality of life, look into your options. Aquablation worked excellent for me. And don’t put it off. I wish I would have dealt with it sooner.

@@Ray-ql2ne thank you for getting back to me. I’m about to turn 70 and have been struggling about 10 years now. About a year and a half ago I tried a PAE procedure but after about 8 months it started to regress. I’m in good shape and want to start doing more traveling so I’d like to get this remedied.

Very informative presentation. My Urologist is recommending TURP and I had been leaning towards the Urolift, but the Aquablation Therapy procedure is a lot more appealing to me. My only issue is finding a Urologist who is relatively close to me who does the procedure.

Best and most detailed explanation thus far from all of the presentations about Aquablation I have seen. . Very well done Dr Greenstein. It appears that you are caring and a great educator besides being a skilled physician. Thanks x taking the time to explain the procedure and other details. I am a IM/Geriatrics colleague interested in the procedure .

18 months aga, I had Aquablation at the age of 74. First up: very good results. -an exciting night in the hospital mask I was continuously flushed till bleeding abated. -catheter out second day. -no pain pills needed. -I no longer have to think about sitting through a long movie or auto journey. -flow is good, with easy start and emptying. -a very small amount of leakage sometimes when bladder is full. -some reduction (30%, how does one quantify?) in ejaculation sensation, but the equipment works just fine. I am happy I had it done.

Very cool, Dr. Marc! I recently had general anesthesia for a minor out-patient surgery on my elbow. Seems the anesthesia really zapped my bladder which ended up getting very distended leading to a bloody UTI and having emergency catheter. I already had previous BPH symptoms very gradually growing from age 60-70, but now this new bladder issue has really caused a nightmare of constant retention, nocturia, and my urologist urging TURP procedure soon. My median lobe is apparently "blocking the dam" presently. I'm very reluctant now about invasive BPH especially after what general anesthesia and catheters did to me! Is aquablation or another, appropriate for me with this median-lobe and bladder issue also?

I had aquablation this week. Holy crap, it changed my life. 42 hours total from admission to hospital to discharge to removal of catheter in the doctor's offices. Peeing like a kid again.

My prostate is 67cm volume. I am considering Rezum or Aquablation, but do not understand how a smaller prostate (below 90cc) undergoing aquablation increases risk of TUR syndrome more than a larger one undergoing aquablation. Wouldn't the extent of scraping in a smaller prostate be less than in a larger one, reducing the amount of irrigation and thus the risk of desalinization?
@docmarcg
@docmarcg Год назад
Sorry for the delay in response. TUR syndrome occurs when the fluid used to look inside the bladder absorbs into the veins of the prostate. The longer the patent is the OR the more fluid gets absorbed. The smaller the gland, the less scraping. The larger the gland, the scraping and the more fluid absorbs. Hope this answers your question.
