Better Than Skool Daze? | School Games on the ZX SPECTRUM 

Like a lot of Spectrum games, I loved Skool Daze, but if you got stuck, you were screwed ! These were days before the internet, so working out how to finish it was ruddy impossible !

Great vid and cool intro! What a shocking selection of games haha. Given how popular Skool Daze was, you'd think programmers would have been falling over themselves to come out with something vaguely similar to capitalise on its success (apart from the shoddy efforts in the vid, that is)!

I will always think a GB Skool Daze would have been a major worldwide hit. A GBC followup with added quests and more to do would have been huge and we would likely have Skool Daze as a long series. Im stunned that no publisher bought the rights to Skool Daze for a GB release. It would have been massive, a game boy classic that every kid remembers alongside Mario Land & Tetris.

Yeah Grange Hill, a big pile lol. Loved Mikie, but also Skool Daze and Back to Skool 👍 All 3 classic speccy games of our youth. Nice one Seb, enjoyed 😊

School was a nightmare for me from the age of 9 until I left at 15.

Tubaruba feels so much better on a CPC. I'm not sure it is legitimately a better game, but it's a proper mode 0 (high colour) title with fast paced action, which was rare at the time.

Wracked my brains but I couldn't think of any school games you hadn't already mentioned. I recall being so disappointed with grangehill, utter pants. I agree, mikie is a classic.

Great intro mate, clever use of editing and thought is something i love. Mikie was great, loved it at the arcades and the C64, the spectrum though gives a fantastic rendition of the tunes and it's a great conversion too. Was never a fan of Skool Daze or Back to Skool though, always thought they were way overhyped though i can understand why folks loved them. Surprised there were so little school games out of the whole catalogue.

Maybe quest/adventure games about school should be taken into consideration as well? Like "Escape from School" or smth more advanced and tricky😊

I think I would have enjoyed the customisation elements of Skooldaze far more if my name wasn't Eric and my headmasters name wasn't Mr Wacker.
