Excellent…..great to see another Air Force display team. Any team able to fly to air show standard deserve congratulations, the pilots have exceptional skills✈️✈️✈️✈️
I totally agree Mark. Flying fast jets (flying anything) is a challenge at anytime. At this level, the margin for error is virtually non existant. Things can go very wrong, very quickly.
Korean team are fantastic! I'm not going to answer that question though. I do think that the Frecce, have and do give the Reds a 'run for their money ' 👍 🇮🇹 🇰🇷 🇬🇧
Indeed, much better than The Red Arrows…Ok only flying 7 Reds due ‘operational issues’ but the Reds have certainly lost the wow factor 2022…hope the wow returns for 2023.
Rainfall to Tornado split to landing is the best part of this team. I think they didn't finish it with Tornado because of thick cloud density. Well filmed! Thank you for sharing!
They looked good. I’ve seen the reds multiple times, not always with the 9. They can only do their best with what they have. It’s not like they could train 2 pilots in the space of a month.
I was at RIAT on the Saturday & Sunday. IMO, The Italians were the best display team of the weekend, followed by the excellent Koreans in their T50's (lovely aircraft and the first time I've seen them). The reds are still my favourite, as I am a brit and quite patriotic, but they are missing the other two jets this year and I think they had intended on using 9, but had to adapt the show to 7 jets late on in their rehearsals for whatever reason. I really hope the Reds are back to a 9-ship next season as the show didn't flow quite as well as it has done in the past. I saw the Thunderbirds a few years back at RIAT and they blew my mind, i went to Miramar Airshow in 2019 and saw the Reds over there (albeit an 8-ship as one of the pilots had returned to England for the birth of his child). The reds put on a great show and were well received by the locals. i saw the Blue Angels at Miramar too, awesome, totally different, but incredible. The Reds are due some newer jets now, the Hawk is a beautiful aircraft, but it's age is starting to show. I had a dream a few years ago about 9 Red Typhoons doing a Reds style show, maybe a premonition eh!.......... 🙂. i really hope the Reds have studied the other teams shows this season and maybe been inspired to come up with some new formations etc...... not copy, but try and come up with something new, original and crowd pleasing.
They announced it in May that they would be only running as the 7. Personally, I think they will go back to the 9, though they need new pilots to fulfil the roles. Which means they’d be looking for pilots to train up which takes months.
After having watched Airshows and aerobatic teams from all over the world for 60 years; I had never seen the Korean Black Eagles. I will watch. I think every aerobatic Country team should be held in the highest regard. Specialized skills abound. Whether it's Frecce, Tricolor, Arrows of any colour.... Snowbirds, Angels or Thunderbirds..... they are all ridiculously awesome. Let us always watch and cheer them. Cuz realy guys.... Stupid level great pilots. Jam on young uns. Go see them all. They are all in it to the very best they can. Any talk of 'beating' another team is vapid.
No doubting that they are very good; timing not quite as good as RA on a couple of manoeuvres, but it’s worth pointing out that the Hawk is nearly 20 years older than the T-50, its engine generates little over half the thrust of the T-50’s and lacks an afterburner, and given that the T-50 is based on the F-16, it probably benefits from fly by wire, whereas the Hawk is resolutely fly by stick!
The Hawk T.1 that the Red arrows use is so outdated now while the Koreans have a top-of-the-line aircraft in the T-50. It's time the Red arrows updated to the Hawk T.2. Even the older Tranche 1Typhoons that the RAF is going to retire soon would make a great replacement!
There is no way they would use typhoons, could you imagine the cost and not to mention the noise that one of them typhoon’s make could you imagine nine of them 😳
@@thatsbigdave Why not?, the Thunderbirds use the F-16, the Blue Angels use the F-18, and the Russian Knights use the Su-27, so there is a precedence for using established fighters instead of trainers.
Better than the Reds? At RIAT for sure, the Black Eagles and the Frecce are the current front runners. I loved the Black Eagles break for the landing pattern, all the teams will be replicating this move in the future.
I'm sure the recent removal of a reds team member was all the government needed to start winding them down. Better start enjoying these new kids on the block!
They're great. Outstanding. Of course they are. And so are the Red Arrows. And so are the many other teams from around the world. They're all exceptional otherwise they wouldn't get the d*mn job. For anyone with a mental age above 6, air displays have got nothing to do with winning or 'being the best' or partisan flag-waving bigotry or odious nationalism; it's about putting on a good show. These guys put on a (jolly!) good show. You're allowed to like lots of things equally, all at once. Yes, really. You can like different types of music, too. Please, let's not have things degenerate to the asinine level of requiring judges, degrees of difficulty tariffs, and scores for artistic impression, team spirit or patriotic fervour. Ugh. If you're into aviation, just enjoy ALL the displays before they're banned for failing to be sufficiently [insert long list of politically-correct modern objections and hand-wringing gripes which I can't specify without having my Comment auto-deleted], and we're all reduced to watching pretend pilots flying virtual displays on screens and simulators.
I do think the reds have lost the edge for quite a few years now.maybe from the accidents. they aren't as dynamic as they used to be it might be the T1 hawk they have they must be getting close to their fatigue lives.give our lads some more modern equipment and support we'll be number one again
The Hawk T1(A) was withdrawn from RAF service. However, the Reds have been given the all clear to continue using them until they can find a suitable replacement aircraft. Personally, I think a Typhoon formation would be amazing but one can only dream🤣
The Red Arrows have been badly let down this season. After all the working out and winter training, two crew members had to be dropped because of drinking issues. They have caused this seasons display to have only 7 jets instead of the usual 9, which has caused some of their display to be cancelled at the last minute, hence it's been way below their usual brilliance. I feel sorry for the remaining 7 pilots. What a disgrace those two are.
They were hands down better than the red arrows and so were the Italians and pretty much every other display team for that matter. Was embarrassing to be honest compared with previous years.
I don't know who 'they' are; but as a 60 year veteran of airshows, I would say to you all that all aerobatic teams are incredibly skilled. Have you ever seen Canada's 9 man Snowbirds? Marine Blue Angels? Army Thunderbirds? If not. Go. Look.
@@tjmcguire9417 if you don't know who "they" are despite it being in the subject of the authors post, being a 60 year veteran means nothing when you can't read.... I am in no doubt they are skilled pilots but the coreography and imagination lead to a lackluster red arrows display compared to what they have done in previous seasons and especially compared to other teams at this show.
