Enzo and Cass’s split was brutal as it exposed both of their weaknesses. Enzo couldn’t wrestle and Cass couldn’t talk. Their partnership helped hide those shortcomings.

I don't think anything has killed more careers than Vince's hatred of tag teams.

I think Heavy Machinery could be added. Tucker disappeared rapidly. Otis failed to get over as a singles star and ended up in another tag team.

The Dudley Boyz splitting up only worked in TNA and that was only because they feuded with each other. I always thought Darren Young coming out was the reason Vince McMahon split up the Prime Time Players. Cryme Tyme should have returned in 2016 during the draft or early 2020 when John Morrison returned to SmackDown.

Honorable mentions: 1. American Alpha. Jason Jordan and Chad Gable were an incredible tag team in NXT, winning the Tag Team Championship there and the Smackdown Tag Team Championship on the main roster. But then the company split them up to have Jason become Kurt Angle's long lost son only for him to suffer a career-ending neck injury. As for Chad Gable, he ended up teaming with Shelton Benjamin and later Bobby Roode, winning the RAW Tag Team titles with the latter, and then the awful Shorty G gimmick. 2. The Bella Twins. They split Brie and Nikki up just for them to have one of the worst feuds ever and in the end, Brie turned heel and rejoined Nikki.

I do think Titus had better opportunities to shine as a singles star than Young did But the Prime Time Players definitely split way too early in 2014, literally only months after they became faces

I was in the minority who liked Bubba Ray on his own in '02. He eventually proved that he had what it took to be a singles wrestler anyway.

Shad and JTG vs Enzo and Big Cass would’ve been a great match

The Iiconics breaking up along with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville with Otis which was idiotic as what.

The usos should be on this list. Not only did Jimmy’s motives not line up with his actions, but his reason made no sense and WWE had no reason to do it when they did because we have to wait to Mania to see them face off.

Gotta give it to Vince, his hatred of established tag teams is consistent throughout the decades, no matter how oever they might be. Ever since Shawn and Marty Janetty, it seems like he's been obsessed with making one breakout star out of a tag team. He always favors one guy in the tag team more than the other (Edge over Christian, Jeff over Matt, Big Cass over Enzo and Montez over Dawkins). Good thing Triple H loves classic old school tag teams, he probably saved the Street Profits there.

In history there were two types of tag teams #1.teams that were mirror images of each other (Rock m roll express, Young Bucks Road Warriors) or Yin Yang type teams ,(New Age Outlaws,Enzo/Cass,Hart Foundation) the breakup of The Rockers set such a standard that all tag team are still measured by.

Ngl I loved Billie Kay’s solo gimmick trying to find a new partner. It was pretty funny and if it was given more time, it could’ve been something great

I saw someone already put American Alpha in the mix & I totally agree with that, but Ryhno & Heath Slater was another really fun (not great, but fun), tag team that split up & the 2 performers went nowhere.

Man poor Natalya. It seems Hart family always gets haunted. First Davy Sr with his addiction, Pilman accident, Owen, Neidhart... only Bret surviving that but still getting a career ending injury. Then Davy Jr and Tyson.

Turns out Team 3D splitting up would work out in TNA, namely for Brother Ray/Bully Ray.

The IIconics split is unexplainable. They have to be one of the last legit women tag teams in WWE

I'd argue EVIL and Sanada in NJPW. Sure they've both been IWGP World Heavyweight champions solo now but they're considered two of the worst people NJPW has put the title on in recent memory

The Illconics may have been a real team, but their reign was transparent.

You really forgot American Alpha. They were on their way to become top tier as a tag team and have feuds with the new day and the Usos that could have been like the ones the Hardies, Edge and Christian and the Dudleys had back then. Instead they were split up for a stupid illegitimate son storyline that went nowhere and a gimmick that was all about how short shorty G is. And after that one is retired after an injury and the other one has formed Alpha Academy - a new staple that is basically a comedy version or their original staple.

Billie Kay was actually entertaining when she split from the IIconics. She could’ve been Bayley or Camrella’s assistant with that résumé gimmick. Vince split them up, thinking that Royce would be the breakout star and Billie would flounder. It turned out it Billie took the ball and ran with it, and he just released them both out of spite.

With multiple copycat tag team/stable acts, it's clear to see that The Beautiful People from TNA was one of their biggest successes and all 3 original members were incredible as a mean girl trio. So much so that Vince thought he could copy it with LayCool, but as good as Michel McCool and Layla were, they could never be anything more then a cheap imitation of the original, and I never really got to see the IIconics do their thing, it sounds like the time since The Beautiful People had split did the IIconids a world of good, as they were able to get over in the short time they had together in a way LayCool never had a chance to. That goes to show, if you're gonna do an imitation act, at least allow enough time to pass between the originals and the imitators for it to feel a bit more original or not stale out of the gate, or do it in tribute to something great, much like Jay Lethal did with his Black Machismo gimmick.

Deuce and Domino, Festus and Jesse, MNM, Cade and Murdoch. I know these tag teams were not the best, but their splits did nothing for most of them.

Its hard for me to think of any tag team where both performers became stars. A split is usually a death sentence for one of the two.

Enzo & Cass were so good together it's crazy. I remember Enzo's injury and the night he returned. Cass started to say something and then stopped and turned to the titantron; the crowd went crazy!!! Splitting them up was so terrible.

Some of those tag teams I feel were split up for unknown reasons, and some for good reasons like some people work better in teams some work better individually but some tag teams in wwe were formed because they had nothing for them individually but like the reason some of them teams were split was because the wwe had changed its ways in the earlier years like 2003 to 2013 I felt wwe was like a wrestling/comedy because if you look at some of the storylines over the years some would make you laugh out loud then when the comedy part started to slink away there were no use for some of these teams but I was very odd like with the iconics i always think of them as another version of the bella twins no the iconics were not twin sisters like the bella twins but some of the attires aswell as them being heels were very similar to the bellas Enzo and big cass they both great superstars but there were sometimes that some of there actions didn't make sense like enzos promos were alot of the time it was like he was waiting for someone to punch him out big cass after he got injured it felt like he was never going to reach his full potential again

Vince not "getting" anything is why so many potential storylines, characters, tag teams, and title reigns ended in failure.

I don't know if it's fair to list Dudley Boyz here. At least when it comes to Dvon. The Reverend gimmick was just bad, so it's likely that whoever it was given to would have suffered because of that. So all I'm saying is that Dvon didn't even get a fair try to see if he could work well alone.

Shad and JTG. Not the best wrestlers, but were entertaining in how they got their wins, backstage segments and skits. JTG became a jobber and shad had a small push that did nothing.

it doesn’t matter what anyone says. every tag team had a guy who is the heart and soul; and a guy who can be replaced. Hawk and Droz would have worked. Shawn Michaels and Lied Cassidy would have worked. Booker T and Big T would have worked. You guys get what I mean? let me know what you think.
