She was a cousin of mine. I can remember talking to her on the phone while my grandmother was alive. As I grew older my mom recieved letters from her for them to keep in touch.
My mom helped her out a lot when she was in RI, we had some good times hanging out with Betty. She had so many ups and downs in her life but a beautiful person. She was my oldest daughters godmother.
what a beautiful lady...I love her personality and her unlimited energy. She is gone too soon..People like Betty make us happy when we are down. She gave a lot more than she received...God bless her for that
Bless her heart. I think she miss being an young actress. Age devastates a lot of actors and actresses, plus her childhood wasn't good from what I hear.
She was a big star before I was born, my parents generation- but I remember watching her movies "Annie get your gun", "The greatest show on earth"...I thought she was great, a real fireball, so full of life.
At this time, it really meant something when someone got a standing ovation. I am not saying Betty Hutton didn't deserve this, the audience just wasn't programmed into jumping up and down every ten minutes as they do now.
I adore Betty and have watched and re-watched the interviews over the years. Her energetic enthusiasm is almost manic at times. I don't believe she was as happy as she portrayed herself to be. Her upbeat attitude is very infectious and is very endearing. But I think it was way of covering up her true feelings. Don't get me wrong I think it's great to have a good attitude and face the world with a smile. But deep down I still think Betty was very unhappy and this was her way of coping. I also think her belief in her faith bordered on obsession. The fact that even after she reconnected with her daughters, her relationship with them was off and on over the years until her death. I don't believe that Betty is fully to blame for the strained relationship with them. While I think it's very sad that their relationship was such at the end that they didn't attend her funeral. They had their reasons and I think people who judge them for not attending are only doing so because their Mother was Betty Hutton.
Disarmingly honest, boundless enthusiasm in every picture she made, it was her joy to make people happy and laugh. Thanks for the memories Betty, you're immortal now.
+john smith Me too John.... I'm a late 1960's baby and man do I feel like you, that I missed out big time!!! Betty Hutton, you are one hell of a lady!!! I know you are no longer in pain, and are being showered with God's unconditional love....
In this world, where most of are just a bunch of followers, she danced to the beat of her own drum, and people don't like that, they want to make you follow them.
I wonder if all that fame and riches are worth it. Am glad that Marilyn was driven to be an actor otherwise we would have been deprived of a beautiful fascinating person but look what it did to her. Drugs and alcohol and smoking.
What a bizarre comment to make. I feel sorry for you putting politics into this. Today's Republicans were not yesterday's Republicans. Betty would be appalled at the behavior or Republicans today.
@ Michael Proctor you are so right that the Dems of today are not the Dems of yesterday. The Dems of today are so much better. They are trying to save our democracy from evil greedy fascist.
After the death of her mentor, Father Maguire, Hutton returned to California, moving to Palm Springs in 1999, after decades in New England. Hutton hoped to grow closer to her daughters and grandchildren, as she told Robert Osborne on TCM's Private Screenings in April 2000, though her children remained distant. She told Osborne that she understood their hesitancy to accept a now elderly mother. The TCM interview first aired on July 18, 2000. The program was rerun as a memorial on the evening of her death in 2007, and again on July 11, 2008, April 14, 2009, January 26, 2010, and as recently as March 18, 2017 as part of TCM's memorial tribute for Robert Osborne. Hutton lived in Palm Springs until her death March 12, 2007, at 86, from colon cancer complications. She is buried at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California. [Citation courtesy of TCM]
@@KarensOpinionsMayDiffer It's what happens, I guess, when someone has been truly broken by life. It hurts to see her pain & fear. God bless you Betty.
Love her!! Hollywood treats their stars like shit , they use u till they get everything they want out of u and throw u away and basically tell u to go to Hell😡😡😡
Jochen Stossberg It’s Because the lyrics Murder He Says fit the narrative of the script, with Mickey Cohen getting killed and others. But most people did like her performance and I was one of them. That’s why she was a big star 🌟
Being famous should be looked upon as a job, it's only a job. Then go home and be yourself with your family or friends who know the real you. It's like any other job.
I remember watching Donahue just before Bozo came on and remember the intro though I was obviously too young to understand it. Think the aerial of Chicago might of been filmed before 1978 because the Water Tower place and hotel by the Hancock building hadn't been built.
So sad that God’s beloved creation is so cruel to others. They only like you when they can get something from you. No wonder dogs are so love in this world. They are a replacement for people many times. RIP Ms. Hutton. You will always shine bright.
