keanu has one of the saddest stories. he lost both his wife and baby, yet he is still one of the NICEST actors ever. i actually saw him at the japanese airport coming back to america and he stood in line w everyone, took us all a second to even know it was him , he looked and acted like a “normal” person. no one even asked him for a pic or anything, but he was so nice to everyone:)

Some info on Keanu - he was born in Beruit but Daz is right, he was raised in Toronto, Canada. His mother is a costume designer and performer and she was working in Lebanon when she met Keanu's father. His mother is actually English (born in Hampshire).

Keanu Charles Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon the son of Patricia Taylor, a costume designer and performer, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves Jr. His mother is English, originating from Essex. His American father is from Hawaii, and is of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, English, Irish and Portuguese descent. His paternal grandmother is Chinese Hawaiian. His mother was working in Beirut when she met his father, who later abandoned his wife and family when Reeves was three years old. Reeves last met his father on the island of Kauai when he was 13. After his parents divorced in 1966, his mother moved the family to Sydney, Australia, and then to New York City, where she married Paul Aaron, a Broadway and Hollywood director. Reeves and his sisters grew up primarily in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto, with a nanny caring for them frequently. Because of his grandmother's ethnicity, he grew up with Chinese art, furniture, and cuisine. Reeves watched British comedy shows such as The Two Ronnies, and his mother imparted English manners that he has maintained into adulthood.
