Bevel Set to Shave Ready with One Coticule

This is the video I did using John's Coticule to hone up my Genco Master Cutler Straight Razor from a dulled edge all the way up through being ready to shave with using only the one stone and the strop. So having been asked to review this stone I would say that it is a truly Excellent Coticule in my opinion. Very easy to use, cuts pretty fast and leaves a very comfortable edge in the end.

Try soapy water. You can get your edge as sharp as you could on a synthetic stone, by doing lots of strokes on soapy water vs just plain water. Do the strokes on plain water but finish on soapy water.

+Aaron Smith That is really crazy Aaron that you posted that yesterday as I did just that on a new stone I got when I honed a razor up on it on Saturday, just using dish soap, it worked really well for the small amount of time I spent doing it. Excellent suggestion for sure.

I get a small water spray bottle, pour in a few drops with the water, shake it up and it comes out all bubbly.

why does nobody use the blue belgian stone side??? it creates a perfectly sharp edge which you then continue on the coticule or yellow side

Well... Belgian blue stone quite isn't what you get to see as a "back" to these Coticules. Coticule happens to be pretty fragile stone compared to other natural stones. Hence it has to be glued to a base, in order to be used properly. The base it is glued to, even if it as a natural stone as well, doesn't have any sharpening purpose. The backs aren't Belgian blue.
