It's success was why Friends and Dawsons Creek were made and those were both very successful shows. Nothing like them these days as we are so saturated with entertainment forms.
@@deanooooooo6496 Yes, and I'm not saying the writing and story lines stayed great. Especially into the later seasons. But the early 90's and mid 90's BH 90210 was great. I wrote that comment 3 years ago and I'm still here! YAY! hahaaa
I gave up on this show soon after Shannon left. I tried watching it but I think it was my age. I started junior high school or middle school and homework became too much.
OneGaurdian Wrong. I rewatched the entire series not that long ago. His dad comes back in one of the later seasons revealing that he’s in the witness protection program and didn’t really die.
@@Remembering-rq6si I barely watched those last two seasons. Truth is bringing back Luke Perry had been an act of desperation to keep the show alive, which didn't help much. Considering his father's murder was such a defining story for Dylan, "retconning" it just makes those last days of the show all the more of pour quality.
@@OneGaurdian they planned long before season 10 to reveal Jack Mckay was really alive, but it was nixed when Luke Perry left in season 6. So when he returned, they went back to their original plan revealing Jack was in fact alive.
I remember how gut-wrenching this was. Poor Dylan was finally bonding with his dad, and then this happened. Granted, Jack shows back up later, but that is a whole different story.
But every time something tragic happened to Dylan, Luke Perry proved over and over again what a great actor he is. The only really good actor on that show. He should have won an Emmy. But as it was a soap opera by the time Antonia died and they don't give Emmy's to soap operas, he was never even nominated.
Susan Lucci has an Emmy and she got it for her work on a soap opera. I do agree with you that Luke Perry's acting here is off the charts. That visceral scream from his soul is chilling. 😢
This scene always brings me to tears!!! Yea, Jack McKay wasn't really the perfect dad, but Dylan loved him and was happy that he was starting to get along with his dad.. then this happens right in front of his eyes! Always gets to me :(
Luke really was a great actor. First he was Dylan McKay, then he was Jerimiah Clouteau, then he was Link Stark and even Silas Hendershot. The guy is the coolest man ever put on TV.
The saddest part in that scene is when he cries out to Brandon. I pulled away from watching the show. So, I didn't know any of those things happened until recently.
The saddest scenes are the aftermath scenes in the episodes after where Dylan is by himself remembering and those sad songs are playing. The “I can’t cry hard enough” and the “Nobody knows me like my baby” songs. That’s when it goes over the top sad.
Wow i cannot believe that Luke Perry is gone from us all wow he is truly amazing actor of all time wow my heart is still numb to the core to hear what happens to him he is very young wow that is something smh . So I close statement of mr. Luke Perry may you sleep with the gods and angels and thank you for the entertainment .us 💋💋✌✌ rest in peace mr. Luke Perry goodnight
that was one of the most painful scenes I ever saw on this show. I didn't know what that felt like until I lost my parents. Then nothing else matters, and you don't care who sees you scream or cry..
i lost my parents at a young age it still hurts the closets deaths that are painful still to this day are dale earnhardt and waylon jennings but losing my mom and daddy was the worst i still miss him and mom both
Dylan shouldn't have married her in the first place because they only knew each other for 3 months and she's the daughter of the assassin of his father--not only was that marriage ridiculous and too soon but infinitely dangerous too. The only girl Dylan should put an engagement ring on and especially a wedding ring is Brenda Walsh.
You are definitely right there, that was way too dangerous and her father didn't even like him and she got caught in the crossfire. Brenda was the only one for him.
After Dylan broke up with Brenda for good; it's like he became cursed. I've noticed for a long time now that after he dumped her for that bitch Kelly; so many horrible things happened to him like this which is his father dying; and a year and a half later he became a drug addict, and the year after that he married the daughter of his father's assassin which is not only ridiculous since he only knew her at the most for 3 months but also infinitely dangerous because her father is liable to kill Dylan too and another tragedy happened to him again losing her just hours after their wedding. Brenda is the light of his heart and soul, his happiness, and his true love.
+materialgirl8707 Jack didn't die. The FBI faked his death and he went into a witness protection program. In season 10 Dylan finds out he's still alive and they're briefly reunited until Jack has to go back into hiding, because some people still want him dead after all the years that has passed.
I think this was probably the first time I ever teared up watching a show. Or Movie, or anything. I was a kid when 90210 was on, so this was A WHILE BACK... When Dylan and his dad were singing, 1-2-3 Strikes your out... I was teary eyed... When the car exploded, I was on the brink of weeping. I still remember. 🤣🤣
What made this so messed up this takes Dylan down a dark path. Of drug addiction get scammed out of his money. He loses his wife in the process. just to find out his father fakes his death the whole time
I must say, Luke Perry is a great actor. He really puts himself into the scene. I think that's called method acting. Anyways, I am suprised he hasn't found anything else acting wise. I kind of remember him in a tv show in the past where he was apart of a group that won the lottery. I think only a few episodes aired. I would love to see him in something else hopefully soon. He is too good of an actor to not be in some tv show or movie.
Luke should have been cast in more films, maybe he didn’t want to be in the spotlight after 90210, but he had that charisma and talent to be a leading man 💛
They completely ruined this when they brought his father back in the tenth season. 90210 should have ended after the fifth season. I loved the show up until Shannon left.
So when Jack faked his death who was coming after him & planned that bomb? It was Anthony Marchette? I felt like it was such a waste Dylan getting revenge on Anthony but falling in love with his daughter Toni & getting married to her only to have her get killed by her father. I think that was poor writing. Jack coming back alive in season 10 was a long wait. Dylan wasted getting revenge on Anthony but If he had not know about Jack faking his death he wouldn’t have fall in love with Toni
You can see the add:" Looking for extremely handsome man to incarnate father of the character Dylan in the series Beverly Hills". "Must be tall, dark, perfect smile and impeccable features and hair".
Yes i agree Dylan and Brenda was made for each other I really like them together I either like when him and Kelly got together Brenda still loved him she was so hurt u felt so bad for her we are going to miss you Dylan rest in paradise he was so handsome was a very good actor.
The scene where Jack sings "Take me.oit to the ball game" and then Dylan tells him es nurs but then Jack hugs him tight and it's.at.tjat moment that Dylan reestablished the contact with his father again
If you mean the one in the original episode that was aired 19 years ago that was The Williams Brothers "Cant Cry Hard Enough". I found the scene here some time ago but the song was different, I assume it was from DVD and they may have changed it due to rights.
Parents usually do it with there children, especially if they have a nickname, They'll call out the nickname first and then they say your actual name for confirmation.
I remember seeing the trailer is back in 93 and I thought Dylan was going to die in that explosion it turns out being his father although it wasn't seven years later he found out that Jackie was still alive and you visit them visit dealing in La after 7 years
the faked death was written in way later on when the show was losing viewers, they needed something new to come up with and it was a new writing staff, most likely wasn't planned
The show was losing viewers!? wow I wouldn't have thought that, considering that the show went on for about 10 years... I only started watching the series last year a little while after the new 90210 series ended... I haven't finished this series yet, but I love what I have been watching thus far.
the first bunch of seasons were great, but honestly once brenda left the show started to get worse. she left after season 4 i believe, s5-6 were ok but then after that is when the viewers started to really drop. I watched a little bit always hoping Brenda would come back but it never happened.
OneButton Dash Im only on season three.. I mean I started watching it a year ago and was on season 4 I think, where the group were going to college and Brenda decided that University of MN was not good for her, so she came home.. then I stopped watching for a looooonnnnggg time and just started rewatching again from the beginning.. I read online that she left the show, and it was sad to find that out. IDK why though. But maybe I will find out as I reach the last few episodes that have Brenda. But I do plan on watching until the end of the series. Just wish that she never left. Beverly Hills 90210 is incomplete without the MN twins! How can they show Brandon and not Brenda! btw thanks for not giving me any spoiler alerts in your reply. I was afraid that I might get one !
