@@RinoaPoison Haha that's true. On AI, after experimenting for about 10 minutes created some masterpieces and fantasy/scif i concepts I'd never dream of. Scary as a scammer could be very convincing once they set up a style.

As an artist, your intro really hits the spot. It's already hard being one because people look down on your profession, then comes AI art and art thieves and now this. We never really get a break from all of this shtstorm

Kitboga has been experimenting with an AI to hit scammers where it hurts - in their brains and pockets! It has been trained to use sound bites from his own work and responds to scammers scripts it can even get angry and get the scammer running in circles. You work is very educational and more people need to learn how these scumbags work.

ty for making this video, my bf does commissions and he doesnt really use any social media and only uses discord servers that allow promoting, so i can warn him about these scammers

I also advise people to check the age of the discord account. These scammers usually pop up and those of us that can, we get them banned so the accounts are usually very new.

As an illustrator i'm not feeling the motivation to challenge myself with art anymore, it is like there's no sense or not someone i can compete with. making a livinghood from illustrations at the moment is getting so hard and I feel like if someone violated the safe space where i was used to craft and healing myself.

I had one of these scammers reach out to me. I was lucky because at the time I was not looking for art to be done. If I was looking, I could have easily fallen for this one. Thanks for keeping people aware of these situation, Rinoa. You are a champ!

So it's more or less a new take on catfishing basically, since the scammers are impersonating the artists whose work they are trying to sell. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and for everything that you do. You and Kitboga do a fantastic job making scammers mad, and that would be an incredible collaboration. Maybe your potential-victim characters live together in the same house. 🤣🤣🤣

Your start sounds like you are describing yourself. I mean the amount of hours that are dedicated to honing your skills of getting under the skin of scammers. And of course the scene of AI could also be used to annoy scammers. So, yeah! I agree! What you do is a work of art! ;) On the topic: If an artist would contact me out of the blue, I'd be annoyed. If I want or need some artwork, I will search for an artist, that has a style I like and contact him.

Generally I guess genuine and legit artists wouldn't really solicit like that. One of the tell tale signs it could be a scammer if they do.

Thanks so much for this. My red-alert goes off the second they ask for money...A lot of internet radio station have popped up and believe me, i can count on the hand the amount of legit ones. So heed this advise from Rinoa ,always do your homework.Again thanks for what you do...YA ROCK :)

As someone who commissions art from others, I'm always wary about who I commission. I don't commission from people I don't know, especially not people who message me asking to commission them. Thank you for this information! I'm always happy to hear things to help me not get scammed!

I think a general rule of thumb is, artists generally don't go through discord dms to seek commissions, nor do game devs look for beta testers through them. If it's through discord, highly likely it's a scam.

I'm 38 and this scam is very odd to me, partly bc the amount of $ potentially made is so tiny. Is this a scam being done among very young people? It doesn't sound like the kind of big bucks someone who has rent/mortgage to pay is gonna go after, is it?

I wanted to bring awareness. Sucks losing any money to scams or con-artist. I was recently reading about a man in the middle attack on wire fraud which hackers get between you and your estate attorney, sending messages to have large sums of money sent to the hackers bank account. you can read more about this through the FBI's website. www.fbi.gov/file-repository/fy-2022-fbi-congressional-report-business-email-compromise-and-real-estate-wire-fraud-111422.pdf/view

Problem solved: Just become a master modeler of scale flying aircraft like myself and you never have to worry about art theft. For whatever reason/s, there is no market for it. Maybe I should take up throwing spray cans into a lawnmower with an easel several feet away like Uncle Rob. Probably would draw more money

The scammer ask if you would like art made. He then hires a rea artist at a cheaper cost than you agreed on from the scammer. He's done nothing but take money from you and credit from the artist.

Ah, I see now. Thanks for explaining it. I am an artist myself and sell online but most online art sites take between 40% and 50% commission so the artist only gets half the price you see. That seems a rip off to me but I sell, so I put up with it.@@RinoaPoison

That really sucks. Glad there's a happy ending to this story at least though. I like this shorter, purely informational type video. Might be fun to pepper these into the feed periodically if you have the bandwidth!
