Awesome video and great attitude Max. Although I do not have ABS on my 2008 Goldwing I was completely unaware of the arrows on the rim & rotors so thank you for making this video and preventing us from making a very human mistake as I like to do most of the simple stuff myself. And as another commenter replied, I really appreciate you setting that straight in the beginning of the video for all the "perfect" people out there. Cheers

Also, the valve stem points to the left side on a Goldwing. This assists me in know the rotation of the wheel.

Humility is a very attractive characteristic. Important to remember shit happens. I try and do simple maintenance like oil changes, removing wheels, etc. in an attempt to minimize errant mishaps and it is part of owning a motorcycle I enjoy. Videos like this help considerably. Looking forward to meeting you in a few months when the border opens up for a suspension upgrade. 😊

Dude, I like your comment about don't make any slur comments about the mechanic. I went to Honda School of Portland and got my Full Tech Cert in 1985 and can't say how embarrassing it is to find I accidentally mounted a tire wrong...not just once either. (Never mounted them without catching it AS I REINSTALLED so no foul but suffice it to say, like you said, it does happen.) All it takes is a distraction from another mechanic needing help with his problem...I don't care who you are....Every Mechanic has done this at least once. Anyone that says they haven't is either forgetful or fibbing...just kidding. I never imagined the multiple and random electrical issues he described but after you explaining about the speed sensor was to blame it makes sense...well, kinda-sorta...who would have thought? Learned something new so thanks for the TIP. Thanks,

I was amazed at the number of malfunctions, but sounds like everything tied together in Japanese style! I'm doing me"shake down" rides on my, new to me, 88' Goldwing. Previous owned put floorboards & front/rear shifters. As big as bike is, I'm getting use too not a lot of boot toe space under 6 cylinder motor heads! Next test ride found GW wider tires makes better control on my dirty/gravel/mud crappy county road than my Dyna H-D! I as also found backrest needs tightened not to come forward hitting me in back! Next 50 miles was just utter enjoyment on the technical engineering of this 33 year old motorcycle! Amazing comes to mind!

You might want to mention that the brake pads are also directional, there are very small arrows on a tab on each pad. If you look at the back side of the pad you can easily see the pads are built for a specific direction.

Hi Max. I've watched several of your videos since I purchased my 2021 Godlwing from Shawnee Powersports in OK. You're information is very helpful, especially when you start cutting off crap that isn't needed that makes removing and remounting certain parts easier. I've experienced an intermittent problem with my bike that I can't seem to find a video for. I have less than 3K on the bike so far but occasionally when I'm coming into a sharp turn and I'm preparing to downshift to use the engine brake the engine will die when I pull in the clutch; downshift; and hold the clutch for a few seconds in preparation for entering the turn. I don't realize it's happened until I let out the clutch and the momentum of the bike "pop-starts" the engine again. Have you heard of this before? Please say yes! Thanks for your help in advance and for you being you.

Both the wheel and the rotors are already marked with directional arrows.

@@Traxxion correct. Those marks are often smaller and not as easy to see, especially if the wheel or rotor edges are dirty. A sharpie mark on the contact surface of the rotor is quick and easy. Using the ABS tone ring (if equipped) is also a good indicator.

When I change my tires I remove the rotors from the front to prevent damage. If there is a difference between the left and right front rotors, I don't see it. @@Traxxion The strident TDS crowd all watches too much TV. Brainwashing and mind-control is what the almighty boob tube is designed for. Speaking of control, would I notice a difference betw ak-20 and the Axxion piston kit on an sport-oriented 08 FJR1300 that sees track days? Great info in your videos. Thanks Max!

@@highsnburgers4862 I would say yes... for track days, you should buy the best suspension you can afford, it's safety in the bank.

Hi Max! I just like to remember you, if you could make a video about alarm systems. I can't image, that there is nobody out there, who is thinking about a alarm system for his f..ing expensive bike. I heard, Honda offers a system, but i don't know anything about it.........

Hi Jurgen! I don't think I have ever heard of a Goldwing being stolen. It takes a team of men and equipment to steal a 1000 lb bike! If we ever do an alarm installation here, I will definitely make a video of that!

Monimoto. A battery powered gps tracker with motion detection. It calls your phone if it moves. Uses a fob you keep in your jacket to disengage. Not too pricey either. Works great!

Max,Do the Honda dealers remove the rotors,if you would know?
@Traxxion
@Traxxion 3 года назад
No, they don't. But they aren't transporting the wheel anywhere. They just go from the work lift to the tire machine, so there is less chance of damaging a rotor.

I've got an 08 Wing everyone and completely unsatisfied with the audio even with the so called amp that the guy says he put on it to make it louder (?) which in my book I don't know if it did or not and I don't even know if he added it or not but anyway,, any suggestions for improvement? Looking into shops around my area cuz I doubt I could tackle it for more than 1 reason. :) Tanks for any help in advance. Max,, I'm in need of 2 tires for my 08 Wing,, any recommendations and do you sell and ship?

I would check out Wingstuff for tires, or your local shop might be willing to match prices. For custom stereos, I don't have any recommendations, but there is a shop I've heard of in Atlanta doing some custom big front wheel Wings that does stereos too.

Hi Max. Do you have a tire that you recommend for a 2021 Goldwing Tour DCT?
@Traxxion

The best results I have seen are with the Dunlop E4s. They get insane mileage with our shocks on the bike.

If you mount a tire backwards you are an idiot.... guess I'm an idiot then. Had the damn wheel and tire mounted back on the bike before I noticed it. I knew better but just got in a hurry and messed up.

If you mount enough tires, it will happen eventually, even if you know better!

It's Glock Firearms winter hat. They don't sell pistols to 17 year old kids, so whatever you perception is of a winter hat being worn in the winter, is just a high level of ignorance.
