I became aware of Jordan Rubin through his supplement company, Ancient Nutrition, which he co-founded with Dr. Josh Axe. I was looking for a collagen supplement to replace the current one in Lander's Corner.
I dove into the company and tried to see if we were a good fit. The previous company was great when its founder ran it - but when investors came in, everything became corporate. Product lines went into big box retailers, and I confidently believe the quality has suffered.
The supplement and business world, for that matter, is filled with profit-only minds and copycats. I would rather be aligned with mission-driven and solution-based people.
With all this said, I was very leery about jumping into another partnership with a larger supplement company. Ancient Nutrition is a significant-sized endeavor.
Those solving a personal problem tend to be the game changer - the problem solvers with passion.
Little did I know the communication and genuine care from Ancient Nutrition would be excellent. The desire to serve is one I can relate to. The experience in life that completely altered my trajectory was my son's stage 4 cancer journey. For Jordan, it was his near-death experience with Crohn's disease in his late teens. Cofounder Dr. Josh Axe's mother's breast cancer brought Josh to Jordan's book, Maker's Diet, and a friendship ensued.
One of my favorite quotes is by Napoleon Hill, "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."
Using the problems they have faced to serve and help others is why I believe we go through the trials of life. We have the free will to choose whichever path we want, but to serve others from the horrors life can bring is inspiring. The strong faith in God is another aspect I connect with Jordan.
I listened to and read his books, starting with Patient Heal Thyself, which chronicles his journey with Chron’s, and the Maker's Diet, a New York Times bestseller.
But two things happened that made me know Jordan was someone I could learn from and continue to work with. First, his book, Planet He?al Thyself, has not received the fanfare that some of his others have, but it is quite possibly the most impactful book available on "sowing prosperity,” the very principles I live by. It is incredible. The other was an interview with Ben Greenfield in which biohacking and farming are brought together in the ways I've seen for years. Yet Jordan is the only one I know who has taken it to his level.
He farms in Missouri and Tennessee to grow many ingredients used in Ancient Nutrition products. But the kicker is the implementation of regenerative farming practices. Using agricultural techniques that improve the environment and practices like no-till, rotational grazing, multi-species integration, and cover crops benefit the soil.
Jordan is an inspiring and credible individual, and I'm honored to visit with him.
