Well, it ended up being a nice bonus for those of us who enjoy such sounds. XD I've never owned a Commodore but, for some odd reason, the sound of typing on older keyboards is very pleasing to my ears. There's also a certain charm in being able to hear you push keys as you play. Makes it feel just a little like we're chilling in the room with you as you play. Except we can't be jerks and "backseat drive" in real time, haha.
The Amiga BDC was always my favorite port. I thought the practice mode was interesting where you could pick up Duncan with the mouse and set him down to practice parts of a room.
I need to find a WHDLoad version of Amiga BDC online. The C64 port was serviceable, but you can tell they didn't put nearly as much love into it as the guys who developed the C64's port of the first game. I'm a Dark Castle nut as well. It's one of the reasons I'm reluctant to upgrade my Mac beyond Mojave, because I'll lose 32-bit app support, which means no more of my beloved Return to Dark Castle.
It was a model from 1987, matching serial numbers, warranty forms and stuff. Fortunately, the aca500pluss is back in stock and one of it's features will allow me to use an external drive as df0.
I know but I don't want to remove the warranty sticker from my Amiga to change the the drive. Plus who knows, maybe it's still valid and I can send it off for repairs.
Dark Castle is the original keyboard-and-mouse game. Even on my C64, which doesn't have a mouse, I've found that I do much better if using the keys. There are keys for aiming the rocks, and they work fairly well.
