I have a bit of a confession. I am a grown boy. You know. In my 20's. And I kid you not, I shed a tear watching the CG trailer. For the past 9 or so years, each E3, when Ubisoft was building up for their final game, I would always pray "Let it be BGE2 this year." And Always I would be disappointed. And seeing it on stage now, finally, after so many years... I was awestruck. So kudos to you, development team, for sticking with it, and going on stage and showing the product of years and years of blood, sweat and tears. And if this demo is anything to go by, you are developing something that will finally give us what games like No Man's Sky and others have been trying to sell us on. Fingers crossed, and may your years of toil pay off soon.

S'Arais Vanu I doubt it. Yes of course it's possible that every hint and reveal over the past 13 years has all been a hoax or to convince you theres work being done when there hasn't been any. But it's much nicer to imagine that isn't the case, and that's what I decide to do. You do your own thing.

Actually, the game did start development only by the end of last year. The original iteration of Beyond Good and Evil 2 you saw in 2009 got cancelled due to technology not being advanced enough for what Michel was trying to do (or Ubisoft's corporate meddling bullshit they like to do could have done it in as well). Hope that clears that up, since S'Arais was too incapable of speaking without using memes.

This looks amazing. The level of detail is incredible. I'm a bit afraid that it's too ambitious and we might never see some of those ideas (just like in the first Fable).

The thing is that Fable was just Peter Molyneux talking bollocks about stuff they hadn't developed and couldn't develop. Whereas Ancel and his team have actually done the hard bit and made the engine and implemented those ambitious ideas. Now they just need to build the game on top of it.

It's not a game yet... it looks like they are just using some downgraded models that were used in the CGI trailer. Same with the environment. I doubt they have much more than the tech at this point.

This is how disappointments are allowed to be made. "Oh, this is nothing like [thing that has striking similarities to shown product,] I never liked [other product!]" If you honestly believe that Ubisoft can take procedural generation and make a good game around it based on an old IP, then you haven't played many Ubisoft games. Their teams are so mediocre it hurts.

Actually it pretty much the same thing an using the same set of ideas, I'm sure the devs have spent time looking at Hello Games code as well. All they are hoping to do here is add a narrative layer on top of it, something NMS largely neglected, same as Elite Dangerous.

Seems very ambitious. The idea of traveling long stretches of terrain (or space for that matter) in a very short amount of time with no loading is very interesting to me. And seeing that ringed planet interact with the terrain on another planet is another very cool idea. I hope to see more cool ideas of this very natural set of worlds being influenced by each other be brought together. One thing I am worried about is that with all these giant open world games a lot of them tend to neglect a lot of interactions with characters/npcs, having strong narrative, and having cities and worlds that aren't fully explored or fleshed out. So I hope that the developers don't go overboard with just trying to create an impressive sense of scale and try to find a good balance.

It is. Ancel made no secret about it. The game is right at the beginning of developement. The tech engine is done after 3 years of work, but the actual game is just starting developement.

It's been in development probably since around 2008, with the leaked trailers and stuff. Apparently it was not CG even back then, so yeah it's been in development for a long time.

those channels have youtube privilege they're not scanned by the contentID system so their videos can only be take down if a company do it manually, that's why they reupload everything and make money doing it, I know it's bs but now you know also they have the games more than a week before the game officially releases, that's why they have the "all cutscenes video" the minute the embargo is released it's so bs if a new channel wants to compete with that it's almost imposible

Honestly, I saw more than a thing that reminded me of the first game. For example, when you leave Hyllis/Land on the moon in BGE1, back then space was actually REALLY little and no matter where you were pointing at on the moon it'd always land you on the same base. Now this kind of tech would allow them to do much more ambitious (and realistic) things.

Wrong. Without the technology you can't have the game. BG&E1 was actually a very scaled-down version of the game they wanted to make because they found that the technology was too limiting. BG&E1 is awesome but you can tell it was limited. Now the technological capacity exists, Ancel and his team will be able to make the epic game that they originally wanted to. They haven't made it yet. You're criticising a tech demo for not being the finished game. You're just massively missing the point and getting confused about what's being shown here. I'm sure the story and characters will be great, it certainly looks that way from the trailer and concept art. But they will be developed and shown later.

Big Beyond Good & Evil fan here. Played and loved it upon release on my good old GameCube! This is evolving into something I never dreamed possible in a sequel to that first beloved but underrated and criminally undersold game. This has been my most anticipated game since before we ever knew it was coming, when it was just a gleaming kernel of hope resting anxiously in my heart. With the King's Quest revival a few years ago, Tales of Monkey Island from Tell Tale further back (R.I.P. Tell Tale) and the FF7 remake imminent, I think all I need is a sequel to Eternal Darkness and this, and I can die a happy gamer. (Ok, I really want a big budget FF6 remake and a sequel to Faxanadu too but less likely.) Thanks for never giving up the dream Michel! We are rooting for you!!!

I love the world-building, i love the concept, the art, characters, the cultural elements. So much immersion. However, i feel like the scale of the game is just limited by technology. I think this is a game that has an idea way ahead of its time, which explains the really long development process. I mean, this game will have so much details in order to fully build the world. So the engine would really need to be powerful to be able to run a game like this. I think this is a game that will truly grow in another ten years or so, where potentially the next generational of consoles are released like "PS6".

Why is everyone hating... It looks awesome! Am i the only one who is just hyped for the game? i dont i care if its no mans sky or whatever. I just want to play another bge like in the old times. And if you look in the background at the posters from artworks you see that they know what they are doing. Overtaking not really, the quality in SC is far beyond this and all multiplayer. But yes the gameplay trailer looks nice :) But then again SC needs a beast of a PC.

it wasn't a engine swap honestly, the Cryengine CIG used and Lumberyard where the same version of cryengine, so the swap in that regard took ehm two days.

I, as many of us watching the video(I guess), am a huge fan of Mr. Ancel's work; so much that Rayman 2 was the first game I finished; the ability both him and his team to create impressive worlds is something that inspired me to become an animator. I shed a tear when I saw the trailer for BG&E2, and another after I saw Mr. Ancel crying because the game was actually in developement. And despite all of this... I'm scared. Scared of getting extremely hyped for videos like this one. Scared for playing the game and remember when some of the stuff on this video doesn't even exist in the final product. Scared of being disappointed for being hyped. I really hope that you can get everything you wanted on this project Michel, and I hope I enjoy playing it as much as you and your team enjoyed creating it.

If it comes out in the next 3 or 4 years, then yes. i think they would defiantly be able to manage to release it with this kind of open gameplay.. But if it comes out in like 1-2 years.. then i highly doubt it, and there will be some serious corner cutting. And i somehow doubt Ubisoft is putting in the same level of funding as Star Citizen has, so that also leves some doubt on how much longer they will keep on developing this. Hilariously, Star Citizen will probably come out before this. As it's about 2-3 years from full release in my estimates. Tho it will release it's first chapter of the single player campaign within a year from now. Also really risky for them to show off early footage like this. As it can come back and backfire really badly on them later if they had to cut down on things. *cough* Todd Howard *cough* Radiant AI *cough*

Why is it a prequel when the first game ended on a cliffhanger? Why is it open world when the first game was a story-focused adventure? This whole video seems to be just "look how big this world is!" as if that's a selling point on its own. I'm not sure why this game even has the Beyond Good & Evil name on it

Electric Skeleton Theyre probably making this game for new audiences to introduce them to the old one so that when they finally make the continuation of Jades story it will actually sell well. They're probably going to answer all the unanswered questions we have about Jade and her family and at the end of the story of this game introduce us to her again as a protagonists daughter or something so that people will be interested in a sequel to Jades story. Makes sense to me. Why make the direct sequel if no one is going to buy it? Makes alot more sense to make this game to introduce the world to new people and learn everything they can about what people will want in a sequel ganeplaywise before making a final game for Jade. It'll probably be how this director is planning to end his career as well with BGE3

This looks absolutely astonishing. I don't think I've ever seen anything even remotely close to this scale. The tech involved must be crazy, it might even be a big achievement of its own to develop an engine capable of all that. This, however, calls for even bigger achievement, to put good, fleshed out, not self repetative, do exactly the same sequence of actions content. Let's just hope the devs will deliver, because if they'll do this is going to be the best game to date! All the best luck to the devs! Looking forward to seeing what'll come out of all this.

haha you got no cleu about hardware men. This is probably running on 23tflop of gpu power, switch only has like 0,3. This is never ever coming to the switch its impossible. Not only that the CPU power isn't there like at all.

The spaceships gameplay seems so great, I loved the adrenaline feeling that we have during speed increasing ! And the effect of the crashing meteor would be so impressive all of a sudden, during a live session 😃

I don't know about Zelda but Minecraft's rendering engine is pretty trash. There's much more of the engine's performance in the hands of the developers than you might think, and no high-end GPU in the world can save you from a crappy rendering programming job

WOW. I am blown away by the ambition of this game. It is clearly nothing like the first game, but at the same time you can see the resemblence. In the camera mode and very much in the music, I love it. This was the biggest and best surprise for me at E3 I am so excited for it. I only recently(few months ago) played BGE 1 thru Xbox BC. It was wonderful and like I said I don't think BGE2 will be very much like it and we already know it is a prequel, but I do implore everyone to give it a try if you can.
