Commemorating its two decade anniversary, the developer has released an enhanced remaster of its cult classic, Beyond Good and Evil, and though the interminable wait for its long awaited sequel has left fans of the IP frustrated to no end, this remastered release of the original game is a great way to put some of those frustrations at ease, at least temporarily so.
Boasting upgraded visuals, quality of life upgrades, some new fragments of content, and what have you, Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is a solid remaster of what is still a timeless game, even if there are parts of the gameplay experience that maybe have not aged too well.
Whether you’re a returning fan or someone who never played the original, Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is easy to recommend.

Bioshock had you scan enemies as well Note: I didn’t say it did it first. Just notable to mention amongst the other handful of games where you scan enemies . And was a huge success

Unfortunately none of these will ever be rereleased due to licensing restrictions. They are all owned (wholly or in part) by the respective production companies and the movie studios.

I could never get it to work in windows 10. i just installed the original on a win 11 laptop with an Intel i9 and Nvidea 4070 and it works wonderfully after I used a setup.exe that looks like they added since last i tried unsuccessfully. But now I'm playing it as it was intended with an added bonus of Nvidea control panel enhancements

Spoiler but the treasure hunt includes a hidden cutscene of a Beyond good and evil 2 character. I believe this remaster serves to connect the two game’s narratively AND layout the starting grounds for Beyond good and evil 2 promo

Beyond good and evil 2 is vaporware, Ubisoft literally couldn’t even complete a half baked version of black flag while under a strict contract 😂 They also haven’t released a good game in a decade. Literally. What piece of evidence do you have that they would be capable of delivering anything like what they promised with BGE2 never mind soon enough that it would be connected in the collective consciousness of today’s consumers to this rerelease? What’s worse is there are less than 500 people playing this on Steam. I don’t think anyone cares about this franchise, sorry.

@@fioredeutchmark well clearly I care about this franchise and so do others. I say that it could be leading up to bg&e2 because why go the extra mile to insert an entire treasure hunt AND SECRECT CUTSCENE to tease the upcoming game if it’s not gonna happen. Beyond Good and Evil 2 has used a lot of money and resources from Ubisoft so it’s not gonna be cancelled unless they turn the game into something else. If BG&E was gonna be so easily cancelled, they would’ve done so already. The version we get may be half assed but atleast we get something

It was unfortunately originally released up against Prince of Persia Sands of Time, off by a week or 2, so everyone who played it loved it, but PoP ran away with the sales. I bought both on day 1 and fell in love with both, probably liking this most. Warrior Within was my favorite PoP.

Got this on its original release 21 (😂) years ago. Tried playing this remaster and damn it’s not aged well at all. Very much feels like a game made in the early 2000’s and honestly I wish I hadn’t come back to this one and left it as a perfectly preserved memory because now I have no idea why I thought this was a 10/10. It’s a decent 7 (maybe not even that If you aren’t a fan of early 3d platformers.)

Jade is how you write a female protagonist in a video game. Cute, spunky, likeable, vulnerable, yet brave. Thank God for PC gaming, where I can play games from an era that wrote characters well without having to buy the console from that era.

I'm just gonna stick with the original. Ubisoft pulled a Rockstar/Grove Street Games move and not only delisted the PS3 and Xbox 360 version, but also ruined the art direction and atmosphere. Also 30 FPS on Switch and separate graphics options on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for a "remaster" of a 2003 game? Pretty bad optimization! So scared of what they'll do with Rayman and Splinter Cell remasters!

@@fioredeutchmark "Mentally unhinged"? Get a grip dude. 😂 It's been 5 years since we've seen anything and what they showed us last time could have been a sequel/prequel to ANYTHING. That demo featured absolutely nothing to connect it in any way to the original game. None of the original characters - none of the original charming vibe. To me? Absolute garbage in terms of what I thought a proper sequel should be. But at least it was better than that awful trailer with the cursing monkey. It looked like they were flirting with live service elements, too, which is a hard no for me. You can keep it. I don't need another time-sink massive open world game either.
