I already know all this lore and you've covered it all before, and yet I find myself here sitting for 34 minutes listening to you fascinate me in lore I'm all too familiar with, you really know how to tell a story Nobbel!:D
Thank you for the lore and playthrough. For people like me who is still interested in the Warcraft lore but is too lazy to actually play through the game, your vids are really must-see. Thanks again, Nobbel.
I really enjoy your videos! Not only it has good explanation but also include the cinematics to make the videos more lively!!! Keep it up and I will never stop watching!
i watch most of your vids but usually don't comment on them. But for this time, i have to say : THANK YOU. As you play the expansion, you often get distracted by the fight, by the wonders you get at the time on a detail or anything, and after a while in frostfire ridge i was a bit wondering exactly HOW the story had gotten me there. This video (and the next ones, as i hope you'll continue the serie) is an awesome way to catch up and organize the story into a coherent scheme. Thanks again Nobbel !
Hey Nobbel, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for providing so much knowledge about the lore. The little details, the connections, everything seems so unbelieveable even to a wow- veteran like me. Thank you for making a boring instance run entertaining with your videos, I love listening to them, no matter which content it has in it. Thank you very very much. Greetings from germany and Die Aldor- EU.
30:04-30:28 Absolutely love this part of the cutscene. The warlords standing on that hilltop, lookin’ all badass ‘n’ shit. And the Grommash shows up, being his usual badass self.
I really enjoy fighting alongside the archmage that has already been to Draenor. It's sad though that the old band of brothers (Danath and Kurdran, Alleria and Turalyon are still missing...) has not reunited for this quest. It's understandable that Maraad and Thrall are with us in alt. Draenor due to politics (Draenei/Frostwolves). But it would have been that extra touch for the Warcraft veterans from the 90s to include the heroes from W2: BtDP.
Great video, pls do the rest of the draenor story, I have neither time nor motivation to still play WOW, but i love that I can keep in touch with the Lore through you.
can you do a video about the evolution of the races? would be nice to know where all the races actually come from, i have heard that the Nigh Elves evolved from dark Trolls and Tauren where there even before the titans, as an example. I would like to hear your opinion on all that
Hey Nobblel, did you ever know that Cordana Felsong was one of the random names you could get when training a Warden from the Alter of Elders in Warcraft 3?
I always loved that part in the cut scene, Thrall sets that orc up with an uppercut, and Varaad comes in behind him with that face smash. For some reason it makes me grin every time.
Good job as always, Nobbel! As a Horde player, I can't wait for you to show us the story of Shadowmoon Valley! Of course I could play an Alliance char to see it for myself or watch some other videos on RU-vid, but I would love to see it all shown and explained by my favorite lorehead :D Keep going!
Really nice videos mate , I wasn't a fun of the whole "lore" thing in rpgs untill i saw some of your videos . You are doing a trully amazing job and i tend to watch your videos instead of shows or movies !
What I want to know is how a person with the diplomatic skills of an angry porcupine like Garrosh could convince almost all the orcs to do this... Basically start a war with the burning legions and at almost the same time the draenei. Then tell them to craft a portal to another world and invade that before they are even finnished and not to mention the ogre kingdomes that should be there and not be very orc friendly on their own planet. Maybe I missed it somewhere but as I have seen it ingame he just showed up and told them a little "white lie". WHAT?!?! So suddenly not a single shaman could ask ancestors or the elements to back this shit up before they act? In our timeline the lie the burning legion told only worked because the orcs got tricked. Kil'jaeden disguised himself as an ancestor and blocked shamans from talking to others.
He may be a porcupine for diplomatis, but he convinced Grom. This may not seem as much, but Grom is more of a leader that could convince all the other clans. And besides, Garrosh sucks at diplomatics with other races, not so much with his own race. The white lie, as told in the short story "Hellscream" us.battle.net/wow/en/game/lore/savage-world/hellscream/page-1 , convinces Grom and the elements, because the solution presented by Garrosh meant that the corruption wouldn't occur, and as Nobbel said, the elements didn't liked the path the orcs took with the burning legion and Kil'jaeden.
I would say that Garrosh's "diplomatic skills" are actually quite effective on "orc diplomacy". He is strong, loud and persuasive. Also he had Kairoz, who probably gave him some tips on how to be convincing. As soon as he started saying things that no one should be able to know, Gromm would believe him. From them one was just a matter of easely subduing the other clans with the Iron Horde's superiour technology. As for the spirtis...I think the Iron Horde has pretty much forsaken them. Ner'zhul's gone bonkers, neither the Warsong nor the Blackrock clan were that connected to their ancestors and most of the shamans I've seen looked like Dark Shamans, using blood magic and ashy fire. Also as for them starting a war against everyone and everything...seems orcish. But really, orcs seem to be the majority in the planet, with at least a couple million inhabitants. The draenei were never much of a threat(in Rise of the Horde they are massacred) and the Ogres are...Ogres, dammit, they are dumb. And I don't think Garrosh mentioned the Legion in much detail.
1socom ...I never said he did, did I? "Also he had Kairoz, who probably gave him some tips on how to be convincing. As soon as he started saying things that no one should be able to know, Gromm would believe him." I believe you are not going to disagree that Kairoz talked to Garrosh, will you? And if so, of course they had a plan togheter, and not just because Garrosh killed Kairoz that he would throw away any form of insight that the dragon had. My point, as I see it, stands.
I would like to ask, is there a chance for you to make a lore video about Anub'arak? Ever since Warcraft 3 he has been my most favorite character in the Warcraft universe(I was very disappointed when they changed his voice in WoW and currently in HotS.), but I haven't had the opportunity to learn more about him beyond that he is a giant beetle who became king of the nerubians, traded his people's lives for immortality from the Lich King, and ended up as an undead that serves the Lich King and gets killed in Wrath in the mini dungeon that Blizzard made out to be Azul'Nerub, instead of the big ass cavern system that it is.
a threat to azaroth, yeah....debatable. a threat to us? yes. (were apparently trapped in Drenor), and they want us dead even more after garrosh was killed.
iron horde is a joke, they cant do a shit without demons, later on sergeras or kiljeaden will act to this alternative time for to ask gul'dan ''why these fucking stupid animal like orcs didint drink the blood'' after the answer they will lead the charge against the heroes of azeroth who are at dranei world right now. at the end of this expantion i guess players will finish the work which titans couldnt finish.
about the bleeding hollow ritual : sacrificing the eye shows the death moment of one's own, kilrogg's father saw kilrogg killing him, killrog saw his own death when he sacrificed his eye for the ritual- he mentions it when he dies at hfc
Ariok is actually also a quest giver in the Burning Steppes and the son of Eitrigg, one of Thrall's closest advisors and the main character of "Of Blood and Honor" short story ^^
Thanks for the video, Nobbel! I'd like to make some suggestions for your videos, if I may. As a non-english native speaker, I have to concentrate a little to understand what you are talking about and connected every stories together at the same time. My suggestion is to add words, sentences and maybe arrows in the screen to make this assimilation easier. Thanks for the attention, I can't wait for the next video :D
Gul'dan is such a good enemy! :) he gives me the same feelings as the Lich king does. I really hope Blizz works on him :) he is just pure evil. And exactly what we needed :)
waitttttt, hang on. just thought of something, if we disabled iron horde portal what happened to the azeroth side? did it become outlands portal or did it become an empty frame?
hey Nobbel, can you give me some information about your configs ? I run the game on all ultra and get 60+ fps but your game is so smother than mine. Or can you please link me some articles to read ? Can't find any on the forums.
Can't wait for the Shadowmoon Valley video, since as a full horde player I don't know what happens, yet i'm interested in Yrel's storyline, aswell as what the Shadowmoon are up too
Small correction Maiev kidnapped Malfurion during the novel Wolfheart not Stormrage and the group lead by Jarod Shadowsong and previously his sister is Called the Watchers, an Elite group of Night Elves.
I have a time-altered question Nobbel. So we know their is't a second Garrosh in this Draenor but what about Maraad? We know around this time he was still defending his people. So is younger Maraad still around or did he die somehow? Love your videos!
Out of everything so far in WoD I loved the opening and beginning zone cinematics, although I would've liked to see a lot more in the other zones guess time into the expansion will tell, it's still early and still focused on leveling up all my alts.
I'm very surprised you didn't reveal that Ariok (the Orc who goes hulk) is Etriggs son, and a former quest giver for years. He's not a new/throwaway character. Poor Etrigg.
cool lore nobbel :D, a couple of questions or hmm observations 1: when/where/how did khadgar get into the story? there is no mention of him anywhere, he just appears, did he come from alternate draenor? did he find a way to come back and fight from outland? and 2: did you notice that when he said to take "the other orc, not thrall" it seemed like he knew exactly what was going to be the outcome? it seems either khadgar isn't really khadgar, perhaps medan with a illusion body, hence the weapon he carries, or it's some other deceit from kil'jaden or another burning legion character what do you think?
there is something im very curious about, in the end of ur videos u play that trailer. who is that orc holding the 2 axe's with the wolf pelt on his head? is it suppose to represent durotan? it doesnt look like him. or is there going to be some one who will try to take over the frost wolf clan??
Ahahaha, as soon as a Dwarf makes a vocal appearance he gives us their infamous "Off with yeh!". Absolutely despise the Alliance, but Dwarfs have and will always be awesome for me.
I kind of like to think that Kadgar's staff is actually a replica of Medivh's staff that he made himself to honor his fallen mentor and friend. It would make sense and, in it's own way, act as a reminder to him of the great responsibility he has to protect the innocent.
I know Yrel's terrible and dark secret, that which Velen senses within her. *Spoiler Warning* . . . . . . . She owes Maami 6 copper that she has no intention of ever paying her back for.
MY GOD, WHAT A HORRIBLE CREATUE OF DARKNESS!! And yet she posses the light like some Angel, she must be pure darkness.. Only a matter of time until she will start taking 6 coppers from the rest of the world - and won't pay back.
yea @Nobbel87 ived rewatched the cinematic ("Entering the Tanaan Jungle") many times and u are right, there is a sword sound added to Maraad's Hammer animation. Strange isn;t it?
nice video though been through thet dark portal a lot now :P but since not been on my ally character yet, I know there aren't two of Thrall and Garrosh since not been born but what about the draenai vindicator since he was alive during black temple invasion like you mentioned in video ?
Is there anyway to have my WoW camera autofocus on non-cinematic story events, sort of like what your video does already when it focuses on someone talking?
I never comment ever but I just had to now. Anyone who noticed that kargath bladefist says in Tanaan jungle " I only counted 99" and when you kill him in highmaul he says " that's one-hundred" before he dies.
Quick question. All those npcs that defended and came through the red portal with us. Not sure but all of them die except 2 which become the starter followers for us. Any importance behind their names? We see them last along the road to the ships. Just wondering if their was any significance.
RileyRivalle2 I'm aware. I'm talking about where they split off. Horde don't get to see the SMV side of things. Pretty sure aside from SMV and Frostfire, everything else is the same though.
The Grom of this reality already knows about Thrall but only by name. When Garrosh had him see the vision in that short story he only allowed Grom to see all of the bad things that happens to the Orcs and he saw Thrall in an internment camp and thats basically where Garrosh pulled Grom out of the vision before he could see who Thrall is and what he became and what he did for the Orc people. Whether or not Blizzard will act on the fact that this Grom knows about Thrall remains to be seen.
