Looks like a great option for fleet trucks that work in the backcountry for mining, forestry, or powerline work. They are pricey, they carry a $70 per tire premium over the KM3 in a 37x12.50r20. Would love to see an overview of the Armstrong Desert Dog MT, similar looking tire to these, but around 40% less per tire.

@@lakeview70124 I’ve got about 6k on them now. Size is perfect for stock 4x4 f250 without lift. A little road hum compared to street tire but not annoying. No noticeable change in tread depth to this point. I put them on stock chrome and many compliments on the look by strangers. If I get wear better than 45k then I will spend the extra money and buy again

First! 😀 ... Once I get my KO2s down, I'll want to try them out! 😎🚙👍 Because KO2s are brilliant on gravel tracks. Great in the meadows and acceptable in the forest too, but they can't handle wet clay mud and catch stones 🙈

I have a set on a Toyota Tundra 35/11.5. Not the weight you're running but I spend a lot of time on gravel logging roads. Used to have lots of impact punctures with Toyo M55's. Duratracs melted off being too soft. These seem to be the sweet spot so far. Only have 45,000km own them so far but am very impressed. @@AndrewWirtz

We helped BFG with real world testing of these tires on our field trucks. These are typically f-250's &350's loaded to max GVW or very close and see a lot of highway and off-road miles every day. Most mud tires last around 15K miles, 20K if we're lucky. I just turned 15K on my first production set of the BFG HD's and they still have well over half tread left. I do feel like they sacrifice some mud performance but will outlast any other mud tire out there.

great review Matt. I burned up a set of 295/65/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 20,000 miles and discount tire wanted to replace them. I'm leery buying a tire now without a mileage warranty, but I really want to try these BFG's. I burned up Cooper XLT AT3's in about 40k and I actually got a good pro rated amount from discount tire towards my next set. I really like that Cooper stands behind their tire for 60,000 miles. These were on a 2022 Ram 3500 4x4 towing a 13,000 lb 5th wheel. The truck had about 1000 lbs of steel accessories & 50 gallon aux diesel tank. Current truck is a 2023 F350 4x4 with the 7.3, and it has the factory Michelin LTX AT2 which have been excellent for hauling & highway but I get a little nervous on the ranch. Might just get the K/O 2's for the mileage warranty.

I need aggressive tires for my job sites and weekend dirt road exploration. During the week I tow between 3-8 ton daily. I run cheap mud terrains spring to fall and snow tires in winter. I am stuck on a choice of these BFG HD, toyo mt, yokohama g003 mt, and radar renegades. I usually run cheap 12 ply for flat risk on sites. These bfg do not have as deep of a tread as the others it seems, but a harder compound for heavy trucks should make up the difference.
@phild9813
@phild9813 7 месяцев назад
If you have time, you could stick with the Coopers or Michelins and just chain up when “on the ranch.” Best of both worlds. Chains are arguably better than mud tires, IF you don’t need wheel spin or higher speed.

@phild9813 Chains are definitely better than mud tires. I use chains on my skid steer a lot instead of putting OTT tracks on. I need mud tires for working on customer properties. A lot of times, the yards are smaller and I am back on asphalt soon so chains would be too much of a hassle.
@D.M.Designs
@D.M.Designs 7 месяцев назад
@undercoverpighunter The Renegade RT seems as aggressive as the BFG shown here, claims a 40,000 treadwear warranty so it must be built better than cheaper MT tires(you would think) and comes in 12 ply rating. They are cheaper here in the U.S. compared to others.

I think that you should spend a little time explaining to a lot of people that the "rim" is what holds your tire on the wheel and the "wheel" is what you put on your car to get around town or the track. If you put rims on your car, your car will fall straight to the ground because a rim is not a wheel. Glad I found your channel.

@charlesb4267
@charlesb4267 7 месяцев назад
I know the BFG KM3 and the prior models of mud terrain I have owned were crap on ice, typically mud tires are never usually very good or just down right scary on ice and stands to reason but my intention for them was to not really see winter roads as per more spring to fall on crappy gravel/dirt roads and in the field on farm pickups. For years now I have used dedicated winter tires on my personal pickup ( I live in northern Alberta ) but had used the older version of the BFG all terrain and they saw a bit of winter and no I was not impressed but they did better than some of the other all terrain type tires I ran in the past. This summer I needed a new set of all terrains on that pickup and rather then go BFG ( the KO2 seems horrible for holding rocks in the treads ) I decided to try a set of Falken at3 wildpeaks for something different to try. I took them off though to put the winter tires on but I am curious how they would do on ice, they feel like a harder rubber compound then the BFG KO2 or the Toyo all terrain and so was surprised you stated they were the gold standard but yes it does have the 3 mountain peak snowflake on them for whatever that is worth !. I was happy with the low road noise on the highway and were not too bad for throwing tons of rocks in the gravel but have very few miles put on them so far. I don't imagine they are very good in mud or I wouldn't expect them to be as the KM3 has a hard enough time of it.

All tires suck on ice unless you have studs or chains.
@charlesb4267
@charlesb4267 5 месяцев назад
@@justapeckerwoodthatlivesin9989 There are some studless winter tires that perform surprisingly well on ice, vastly better that a typical mud tire. Having said that, the best solutions are good winter compound tires that also accept studs and that they are new rather then half worn out and aged and still expecting good results from them. The problem with tires chains is that they are not on the tires at all times and all the other issues with tire chains assuming they will even fit on the vehicle as lots of passenger vehicles today don't even have the room to run true tire chains and have to resort to cable chains. Having said that, tire chains used at slow speed and short distance are the ultimate as per staying in control and moving ... then its all the idiots around you that are wanting to play bumper cars with you, that's the danger !. A life time ago I ran oilfield trucks out in the bush in the winter on goat trails to lease sites and it was a must to have drive and steer tire chains on to make that happen in that type of condition and steep hill terrain, not just any chains either but Trygg brand chains with the spikes/knobs on the cross chains that dig into the surface to claw there way along.
