This is crazy!! 🔥 I remember back when SSD5 free dropped and a lot of us felt that was more than enough to work with. I ended up getting the full version during a sale. Then last year during the winter sale, BFD3 went for 50 bucks! But some of use were on the fence whether it's a good idea or not.. It seemed dead and people were unhappy for several reasons, one being no M1 update, empty promises... And some said BFD4 could be around the corner. I ended up pulling the trigger, knowing that it did not work in Logic, but as stand alone and in Luna. Fast forward to now, I'm on a MBA M1, Logic, latests MacOS - and it is working like a charm! LOVE IT!!🤘It's insane the things you can do. 🤯 Always, this morning I went on to their forum, just to look around - and I saw this just got released! Man, this is HUGE!! Not sure I need it, since I have the "full version", but it could be nice on the main drive and move 15 GB SSD5 to the external and get some GB back. 😅 Really excited to give this a go! 🥁
It is definitely up there. It sounds great and comes with all those grooves. Definitely feels like it shouldn’t be free. Plus if you decide to add expansions they’re only $30.
And MTPowerDrumKit, and the recent Hafizhjoys Pop Pink Drums. Also, a Frankenstein of all the great free drum plugins can actually go a long way. It's indeed a great time to make music.
Solid plugin, although it has its quirks with the hihat mechanism. For some reason, closed hihat keys don't choke the previously played open hihat sounds UNLESS the velocity of the closed hihat is GREATER than the open hihat. The only guaranteed way to choke open hihat samples is to play the foot pedal (any velocity). This is annoying when playing this VST with any pad or keyboard controllers.
I downloaded it , Installed it, then opened my DAW (FL Studios 21) and the dam thing wont load.. It tries to but the Plug in window is just black.. kinda sux.. i was lookn forward to trying it out
Great video appreciate your time do you have a video on how to install this as I have tried on Windows 10 and you have the player and then the library in it and it installs Library first having issues thanks keep up the great work
The file structure looks the same as BFD3 but i dont see any where in the BFD Player to load new libraries other than the two they currently have for sale for it.
Kinda wish that I hadn't deleted all of the BFD files when I organized the drum grooves from Odd Grooves and GrooveMonkey now. Well, I saved the General Midi and SSD banks anyway.
Is it a standalone? I'm looking for a free standalone drum VST. I don't want open it within a DAW. I moved from DAW to standalone for simplicity. I use my Windows PC and midi controller and record on tracks of my Tascam Model 12. I have Velvet Air and a few other VSTs that i have a shortcut on my desktop. I click the shortcut, press record on my multitracker and i'm ready to go. I would like to use a free drum VST the same way playing with a my midipad controller. I tried Mt power drums and a few others, but they can only be opened within a DAW. Is this free drum VST a standalone? Or do you have any alternative recomendations?
When was this and what system are you on? I know people have had problems in the recent past, but for me it's working like a charm. I'm on a M1 MBA, latest MacOS. And it's working both in Logic and as stand-alone. Zero issues with their authorization system. I would head over to their forum, from what I've seen it's active and people are helpful. I really love BFD! 🔥
i'm using alesis nitro drum set but for some reason the bass drum has no sound and one of my toms has the sound of an open high hat how can I fix this?
You need to change the drum mapping. Have you checked out this video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZVNlehDVrNI.htmlsi=A_dpg-KiNJIvb9ZI
Thanks for the video link I appreciate it. The mapping key worked and I got my bass drum back .The other issue was in alesis drum computer. somehow my tom got changed to a hi hat. I changed it back to the tom sound and everything works perfect thanks a lot for your help 👍🏻
I downloaded it... its pretty cool.... But Im not sure how to drag my toontrack stuff into this program.... the key map thing isnt working... Any help would be appreciated.
It doesn't seem like this software is 100% working yet, i spent over four hours on a chat with inmusic support and they cant figure out why its not working for me and are trying to remote into my computer
I had to start an account first in order for the program to download and play properly. I gotta say, the nothingness kit is worth it for me. I played around with it last night and man... it sounds real nice. It also works with my midi libraries from ugritone and others. That's all I need.
In the menu in the browser you can choose a keymap there, and all of the drums and articulations will switch to those keys. However they aren't fully visible in the software (yet) - you can load the EZDrummer keymap, and things should mostly line up.
I have BFD3 with extra expansion packs connected to my electronic drumkit , but It always crashes when I’m working on Logic Pro X . There was never any software updates for BFD3 , can this player be used the same way and will the expansion packs I got work on this player ?
I dont think the expansions for BFD3 will work with the Player. They do have two inexpensive addons for Player though. And another commenter said this is working on Logic.
What is the trick to downloading BFD drums? For me, repeated efforts to download the zip file stop at 5,232,636 KB (no file extension). My system reports "Failed - Download error." Is the plug-in still available?
@@Drew_Vernon Thanks for the reply. I do not experience the issue with downloads from other sites. I temporarily disabled my security software, but the download fails. So I manually added the missing file extension and managed to load the *.dll. Perhaps the incomplete download explains why none of the kits have a rim shot, cross stick, cowbell, and wood block; or are these instruments available only in the paid version?
Great sounds, but this VST is geared for the amateur with few minimal needs; since rim shots, cowbell, foot splash etc. are not included. The poor contrast of black type on gray in the GUI will suit juveniles...but not the pros. For me it does not even come close to the free but superior Hydrogen drum synth that is customizable and offers ALL of the drum instruments: brushes...any sample in WAV format that can be loaded. Maybe one day a software developer will consult a knowledgeable musician and construct a drum kit for those with higher standards.
BFD Player does have rim shots. This isn't meant to be a sample-mangling tool like Hydrogen. This is an acoustic drumkit experience, with easy workflow, nice presets, and quick macro controls for users to dial in their sound. It is fine if it isn't for you, but to assert it only suits "juveniles" just is not accurate. We already have many pros using it and enjoying it. That said, it is aimed at people who want a simple experience. It isn't trying to be BFD3, Superior Drummer3, Addictive Drums, or any of the more complex packages.
@@Drew_Vernon My remark about juveniles referred only to the poor contrast of text in the GUI, not to the audio. Very young people seem to like black text on a gray background that has me squinting to read it. Some developers opt for even darker gray on black that is barely readable. Chaos is definitely in fashion. I tried BFD Player in my music notation program (Finale) and was thrilled with the quality of the sound, especially the balance of loudness between the cymbals and snare. Nice! But none of the kits include standard drum instruments like the rim shot, cross stick, wood block, cowbell and foot splash that a pro drummer uses. Are these available only in the paid version?
My computer is an i3 and it works fine on it. Even with my screen recording software and a separate audio recording program running while making this video it worked fine.
