Huh. I just realized that Melissan's plot to get you to kill The Five for her, and her attempt to kill you to be the only Bhaalspawn left seems very Highlander.
When I played TOB for first time and heard this track, I just paused game and for half hour listen this loop with mouth wide open. Thank you for sharing.
There is NO F-ING way that someone will create game so damn epic like BG2 (remaking BG with modern technologi would be damn hard, but to make something better? No waaaaay)
Bear in mind that this is battle theme from TOB, where your character is a demigod fighting other demigods. This piece surely wouldn't fit in BG1 and even most BG2 fights (maybe except fights with dragons and Irenicus).
No battle music before or since can beat this little track. It is the most epic, stirring theme I have ever heard, and it never fails to remind me of the battles with Sendai and Yaga-Shura! Oh, and that bastard Balthazar. This music has an amazing calming effect when your characters are all on their last legs, your Planatar and Devas are dead, and he's just called on his Second Wind...
music like those is it that makes me always play games like BG again and again and again ... awesome games. They dont make such awesome computer RPGs anymore today sadly ...
My favorite of the Five? I'd have to say Abazigal. I could definitely see his point of view that only dragons are worthy of being children of the gods. Though since he is only a 20 year old dragon, shouldn't he still be a baby? :\
Not all of the Bhaalspawn are as young as Gorions Ward. Sarevok is probably easily 10 years older than them, and the five are probably even older than them still.
The most epic cRPG ever made. The music, the gameplay, and not to mention the AMAZING immersion in the game. You almost feel as if you ARE the Bhaalspawn yourself. The world around you just disappears. *Nerd mode* To say the least, this theme gave me the shivers.
This is so medievil this tune, tottally fits the game, and what an epic game BG2 was, irenicus the evil bastard and his sister bodi, fucking amazing game and story.
godamn, i want those dev team to get together and do another isometric RPG with high end graphics just like this, with dungeon and dragon edition 4 rules and a story as epic and entertaining as Bg. And make it more focused on strategy as opposed to kiting ( not like neverwinter night). Sadly, people nowadays...
@wcdornez Lol, the Flail of Ages goes up to +5, not +6 and at that point in the game it's impossible that you got the last part, the Electric head which means your Flail of Ages can only be +4 against Yaga-Shura.

@Hamletfan Normally I'd agree with that, but I played ToB with Ascension, so she was moderately challenging. Though I see your point. Either way, she WAS the first battle of the expansion, after all.
I have never felt as powerful, with such a grand destiny, and as just plain badass as in this game, as a solo Wild Mage. Goddamn did things die. There's still Demogorgon down there waiting for me, and this song's made me want to kick his ass and release him again just for shits and giggles, just because I can. Screw his spell resistance, I have unlimited spells, I am the new god of magic.
By the time you hit 40 you were already well into Baator. Some of the Devils and Demons did form a challenge but a lot of Hell was puzzles and such, not combat. I enjoyed it a lot. In 2 I felt less challenged once I hit 30, only some of the mobs in the Shadow Realm of MoB felt like a challenge but that was only if I didn't bring a Divine spellcaster - and some of the bosses where kind of tough but not that hard, especially not when compared to Mephistopheles.
I'm probably the other way round. Sendai? Not too tough, just hard work. Abazigal? Fucking nasty. Draconis? REALLY FUCKING NASTY. Balthazar? Not too difficult actually, just get up in his face and hack him to pieces. Illasera? Easy. Demogorgon? Rather easy. Kangaxx? Seriously tough unless you're a berserker, in which case medium.

One thing that I don't think the developers didn't take into account: Some species have FAR LONGER lifespans than others. For Bhaal to have sired a blue dragon, namely one to old enough age to have enough scales for full plate armor, he would have had to have mated with Abazigal's mother OVER ONE THOUSAND YEARS before the Time of Troubles, well before Bhaal even became a god, let alone existed as a mortal. Fire Giants, I'm not sure about, but I'm pretty sure they live for a couple hundred. Drow can also live for several hundred years, if not the same seven to eight hundred that surface elves can. Either way, it seemed like they both didn't know and didn't care. A shame, really.
@Meliadoul7 Lol I stood at the beginning of that map and just owned everything spawning on the bridge and behind me. It was like 300 only with six against the persian horde. Course I couldnt make that connection at the time. 300 hadnt come out yet :-)
@gasxero well i doubt that since there are multiple terrabyte discs out there. But no one would finance it as development would probaly take a decade or more. So it is possibly to do so and i have some storylines / sagas in my head that would be much more epic but a a) for a different rp system (which is complicated enough to make into a pc game) and b) i doubt anyone would play a game that needs about 5 times the time you need to finish the Bhaalspawn Saga (all BG games + addons)
So maybe you're right and they bumped the level cap down because they realised it would become even less of a challenge if you had 10 extra levels. I guess in the end it wasn't that big of a deal except that I enjoyed experimenting with characters in HotU. I'd just start a new game, cheat to get to 40, try the first fight to see if I liked how it played - rinse and repeat. I think I did that almost as long as I actually spent beating the game =p
I just hate all the new games that is "all looks and no substance" Baldur's Gate Trilogy is the best Game ever made so Far! No contest! ENd of Story! I have been playing it on and off for 9 years now. There aint no other game that makes me so sucked in even after 1x times playing it. Course I use some mods to make it abit more intressting here and there. Harder encounters, more NPC's, more items etc etc. Its so well made that I can't see anyone make a better game within the next 5 years.
Try it with Ascension and Tactics installed. Demogorgon is significantly more difficult, and Balthazar you can actually convince to fight alongside you against Melissan. Which is really epic, and extremely helpful because she's a lot harder too. As a side note though, there is a HUGE exploit if you happen to have a wild mage. Cast wild surges on your target, dont use chaos shield(s). If you get lucky and get the wild surge: sex change, Melissan turns into an imp. XD
How in the hells is this possible to make this prick even harder? Nearly pissed me off when I tried to get him with my 27 lvl band, all spells cast, all potions drank, yet this fucker still alive and feels well. Not as if I was bad at this game, none of the Five took more then 2 tries to finish them off, but this bastard was beyond me.
@@adahnyemeth6317 Vanilla version of the game was very easy. For most bosses, it was just pierce magic, breach, breach, breach and beat them to death with greater whirlwind.

@WyczesanyBober Possible...you could still improve some parts of the music - sure some tracks were just epic but some yould be made better and the existing ones could have a better quality as well for even more epicness. And the graphics as you said as well. Gameplay...well you could add some mods as content like saerileth which is in my opp. the best romance of all - and by far ^^
Also, I can't really point to one thing in SoU and say "that's bad." I just didn't enjoy it overall. Honestly don't know why. That's why I said I didn't like it instead of saying it's a bad expansion =p.
I didn't really like Shadows of Undrentide but Hordes of the Underdark was amazing. Best expansion ever except for BG2 ToB. Maybe even better than ToB *ducks to dodge rotten vegetables flung by fanboys*. As for NWN2, I loved Mask of the Betrayer (as soon as I got past the mechanic of the soul eater which I found very annoying at first) especially the evil ending. Holy shit that was epic. However, Storm of Zehir was a big let down to me. Probably because I expected another HotU.
I wouldn't call it bad, I'd call it mediocre. I still finished it and had a few fun moments with it but overall I did not get the whole epic feeling I got from any of the others (except for SoU - which I really didn't like except for the prestige classes that came with it). I was also disappointed the level cap was still 30. You can make so many awesome combinations with 40 levels to play with but with 30 I felt really gimped if I did something else than 20 levels + maybe one prestige class.
