Going to pursue a career in politics and try to become influential, then have a massive wedding with people from all over the world that are my enemies and then play it.
Uhh Tywin Lannister, one of the most powerful man the seven kingdoms have ever seen, a mastermind, a magnificent leader, he let his family to glory and wealth during his entire life. He knew how to lead an army, how to administrate the great economy of nearly all Westeros, his enemies trembled with fear every time they heard his name. But there was only a thing he never understood or master in his life: How to lock his damned bathroom door
If you accepted the Lordship of Casterly rock like he wished, you would have saved Tyrion and your father as well. But you wanted to stay in Kingslanding so you could keep boning your sister. You let the shit hit the fan ᕙ( • ‿ • )ᕗ
+Darth Revan Ironic how your name is darth Revan but your profile picture is of a sith that strongly opposed Revan and was one of those who supported sending a strike team to the foundry and killing him. Irony!
Spoiler: Hodor will sit on the iron throne. Hodor of the House Hodor, First of His Name, King of Hodor and the First Hodors, Lord of the Hodors, and Protector of the Hodor.
For the slowpokes like myself: The song recounts the ruthlessness of the character Tywin Lannister in destroying House Reyne ("the Reynes of Castamere") and House Tarbeck, rebellious vassals of House Lannister, some 40 years before the events of the novels. The stanza of the song that appears in the novels and is adapted for the television series tells of the vassals' defiance - "And who are you, the proud lord said / That I must bow so low?" - and the subsequent extermination of their houses: "But now the rains weep o'er his hall / With no one there to hear."
"the rains weep o'er his hall" is because they took refuge in the underground, old mines arranged into defendable habitations under the castle. Tywin refused their conditional surrender, and had the entrances sealed, so that not even a squirrel could pass through, let alone a man. But water could. And so Tywin had a river deviated into the mines. The guards heard distant screaming, and then nothing. In his reign, whenever a vassal house acted up, he sent a single bard to their court to sing this song.
Before Tywin even was the head of house Lannister, he had Tarbeck and Reyne subjects arrested and demanded the houses pay their debts to house Lannister. But his father not only released them but forgave all of their debts for the inconvenience. A couple months later they received letters from Tywin demanding they pay their debts or send family members as hostages. They rose in rebellion. Tywin knew they would do this and had made preparations in advance. He fell on them in full force before they had enough time to gather their own forces. Knowing the battle would be lost they took refuge in the castle expecting a siege. Tywin had trebuchets up in a day and brought the entire castle to ruins, he crushed house Tarbeck first with negligent losses of his own. When the tower of the Tarbeck castle fell, it would be one of the very few times men would say they saw lord Tywin smile. The fate of the Reynes is already commented here. Instead of cleaning up the ruins of either castle, Tywin decided to leave them both. To serve as a reminder of the fate that awaits any house who wants to try the Lannisters. Not only will you perish in the process, your entire bloodline will be exterminated. "Now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear."
This was explained in season 3 by Cersei when that Margaery Tyrell called her "sister", she explaind it to her in a sept I think, then said "If you ever call me sister again I'll have you strangled in your sleep".
+Reaver I always thought it was Tywin who sang this, primarily because the voice is a bit scratchy, far from clean, and fairly deep, and of course this song s written after House Reyne's devastation by Tywin Lannister.
he is not a knight he is just a slaver with no respect to Ned stark however The mountain is a knight and so is thoros of myr these are the noble heroes of the 7 kingdoms not some one who serves a false queen
+Arab_Gamer I'm assuming you haven't read the books, because you would know that the Mountain destroyed many small innocent villages, raped the women, then mutilated everyone. Not exactly the most noble guy.
This song just reminds me a lot about Ramsay's quote in the show, a shame the quote isn't in the books as it's such a good quote "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."
Indian epic "Mahabharata" was written 3000 years ago about incidents that allegedly occurred around 4-5k years ago. Imagine someone wrote that complicated literature in those days that it is hard to tell whether it was imagination of the writer or was it really a true story which all Indians believe to be as the story of Krishna. I wish more people all over the world had a chance to watch Mahabharata. Imagine someone writing Game of thrones 3000 yrs ago with all the wars, strategy, emotion, drama, treachery and what not!
History doesn't repeat but it often rhymes. "The Rains of Castamere" is about a great house, House Reyne, being trapped by rubble beneath Castamere and Tywin drowning them by flooding the tunnels. This story is what made Tywin the most feared and respected man in the 7 kingdoms and elevated House Lannister. Now the last of House Lannister died trapped by rubble beneath the Red Keep.
King Joffery version: "And so he choked, and so he choked, that King of Westeros, and now the queen weeps o're his bod, because her son is toast. And now the queen weeps o're his bod for now her son is a ghost" Needs some work but you guys get the idea
This song is about the war between Lannister and Reyne. The House of Reyne was the richest House, second only to Lannister, They sought to be the richest and poked at Lannister. Tywin declared war, and killed every man, woman, and child of House Reyne. Then they made this song in Tywin's honor about killing House Reyne. "Only a cat of a different coat.." "...A coat of Gold (Lannister), and a coat of Red (Reyne), a Lion still has claws" "And mine are long, and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours"
@@MichaelJ44 S7 was crap as well. It actually started with s6 with all the plot armour. Reviving Jon Snow after he'd been stabbed was the most un-GoT imaginable.
@@jipke To my knowledge, Katelyn got revived in the GOT books so it’s entirety possible. But I do agree in the sense that it destroys the illusion. I didn’t believe anyone after that was truly dead -unless I saw their death on screen- unless I saw their head removed
It would kind of undermine everything the Starks stand for, to have a badass song like this. This song is about Tywin being an evil cunt and wiping out an entire house of bannermen to the Lannisters basically because their head didn’t bow deep enough to Tywin. The Starks are noble, often to a fault. It’s just not in their nature to be evil shites like the Lannisters. Too much benevolent blood in their veins lol
Ligierthegreensun i dont know. Bannermen house is the most trusted house to the great house. For one to betray and not throughly taken care off will only cause problem for future generation specially in world filled with back stabber. Perhaps house bolton might refresh your memory how bad if you dont keep tab to your bannermen house
RePhantomz I’m not saying it wouldn’t behove the Starks to crush disloyalty as viciously as Tywin did, I’m saying it isn’t in their nature to do so. Ned started a line of very honor bound men. Sometimes honor is a hinderance. The Starks are the equivalent of that guy who won’t cheap shot anyone in a bar fight because it’s a pussy move, but meanwhile everyone they fight keeps sucker punching them and kicking them in the balls, but they refuse to do so back.
When winter comes for war, You shall hear no Lions roar. When winter forces you to yield, No Stags shall graze upon the field. When winter creeps upon you from the shadows, No Roses shall bloom from the meadows. When winter wreaks havoc on the land, You can bet there'll be no Snakes in the sand. When winter brings to life all it finds grim, The Krakens will freeze where they swim. When winter sets and the land begins to shiver, The Flayed Man will start to rot and wither. When winter fights to the last sliver, No more Trouts shall swim in the river. When winter ravages and all despair, No Falcons shall fly high in the air. When winter shows you what happens when snow falls, Not even Dragons Breath shall warm you in your halls. When winter comes with all it's might, Only the Wolves shall howl in the night!
@@user-qc1ok4kk5m Then the wolf is crazy and the magic demon who instigates fear through magic and cannot be seen by men. The wolf is trickster and can only be beaten by valyrian steel of a Lannister. The wolf created white walkers
Yes, but Winter was crushed by the Lion 🦁, the rose was stomped upon by lions, the trouts routed by lions, the unsullied tricked by lions, only dragons can beat the lannisters.
Such a masterpiece, the word play between "rain" in Castamere which signifies the doom that was brought by the Lannister to those who defy them and the actual house "Reyne" of Castamere which was obliterated by the Lannisters.
Very true. When i was 16 watching the show i didnt get stuff like this but now after having watched like a million lore videos about ASoIaF things are different
Furthermore, Tywin drowned them by flooding a mine. So the Reynes, the literal rain from the sky, and the rain Tywin Lannister himself brought down on Castamere
Yea he was a perfectionist. He was a a famous and proud warrior who has won many battles and he extinguished a whole house because they didn't pay their debts. I actually sympathise with him. All he wanted was a pure and traditional lineage but then he heard about his twins having intercourse (at 9😭) and he just denied it in his mind but deep down he knew. Then he gets a newborn and he turns out to be not what he expected. Don't get me wrong he was awfull to his children but was he worse then other lords? The guy just wanted the best for the family name but his children were out his control
Oh, my sweet summer child, what do you know about fear? Fear is 2016, when the show starts getting ahead of the books. Fear is for the long dark years, when the spoilers spread like wildfire, and book readers live and die all in fear of getting spoiled. That is the time for fear, my little lord, when the TV watchers know more than we do... For four years, we have been the ones in the known. We could travel the web without fear, same as the omniscient author, and TV watchers cut their ears rather than getting spoiled, and begged, but soon we'll be the ones to live in dread of their revenge. Just wait, my sweet summer children. The day will come when us fellow TV watchers will wreak havoc on you all. -Proud watcher of the show
I'm in just finishing "A Clash of Kings" right now. I hope to finish the last book until the TV series continues and hope that the next book comes out soon after that. But nicely written, maester.
Actually, no. Although Bran and Daenerys stories are slready in book 5, i've heard that, due to the size of the books, the seasons of the show would be set like this: Season 1 tells te story of A Game of Thrones Season 2 tells the story of A Clash of Kings Seasons 3 and 4 tell the story of A Storm of Swords Seasons 5, 6 and 7 will tell the story of A Feast for Crows and A Dance of Dragons simultaneously Seasons 8 and 9 will tell the story of Winds of Winter Seasons 10 and following will tell the story of A Dream of Spring I did not imagine this myself, so if it's wrong don't blame me. I got all this information from a website,
I feel like I'm the only one who liked Tywin, he was my favorite character I just loved watching him throw other houses in the dirt and play this song while he gets richer and richer
+Iron Rhett You know who Tywin reminds me of, he reminds me of Lord Vetinari, Patrician of Ankh-Morpork from Discworld, the 41 book series by Sir Terry Pratchett. They are both badass.
And who are you, the proud lord said That I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat That’s all the truth I know In a coat of gold or a coat of red A lion still has claws And mine are long and sharp, my lord As long and sharp as yours And so he spoke, and so he spoke That lord of Castamere But now the rains weep o’er his hall With no one there to hear Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall And not a soul to hear
we talk a lot about Hans Zimmer because he had the chance to have composed the soundtracks of notable films, but this Ramin Djawadi is also a pure genius because I imagine very badly GOT without these themes
This is how you sing this. I've heard too many high pitched versions, performed like a lament or a love song. It's a threat, and this guy sounds like a badass.
To be fair, it can be sung from two perspectives. From the Lannister's, which is the most common seeing as they're still alive, but it can also be sung from the Reyne's perspective, in which case it is a lament.
Let it be known that the Lannisters are not the only ones who pay their debts. Remember this song Freys, and what happened to Lord Reyne when he betrayed a better lord in his blind ambition, because one thing is for certain: the North won't forget. The North remembers.
armsdragon05 Shouldn't you say Boltons? Freys where vassals of the Tullys of Riverrun. The Boltons where the northerners. Still they are all on the same boat anyway ;)
When winter comes… You’ll hear no lions roar… No stags grazing the fields… No roses growing in the meadows… No snakes in the sand… The krakens will freeze where they swim… The flayed men will rot and wither… No trouts swimming in the river and no falcons flying in the air… Not even the dragon’s breath will warm you in your halls. You shall hear only the wolves howl… Everyone who betrayed the North will pay, The Wolves rise and will not sleep till there is blood spilled! The North remembers!!!

PapaSmurff660 the lyrics are finished, it tells the tale of how Tywin Lannister slaughters the entire house of Reyne, rains of castamere is a play on Reynes, when they sing not a soul left to hear they mean it quite litteraly, Cersei even quotes the song when threatening Margery Tyrell
Omg just stop you f o o l people. Go cry to ur mamy for not getting something YoU wAnTeD and EcPeCtEd. A lot of people loved s8 and i think it was perfect. You make me laugh🤣🤡 all over the internet crying for not getting what you wanted. GoT was always hoing to end like this.
@@alexbecker4367 you a fool. The books have not even been written. Just keep bending over for Hollywood bitch. Hbo agreed to 10 seasons and the writers only wanted 8 due to an agreement with Disney over writing a new Star Wars Trilogy. They abandoned GOT and did not give it the love it deserved. Only thing they did right was killing Daenerys. Euron Greyjoy was forsaken, Lady Stoneheart was forsaken and most importantly Aegon the 6th WAS FORSAKEN. If you enjoyed the ending more power to you, but in all honesty you seem like an edgy troll that just enjoys seeing other's disappointment more than truth.
@@alexbecker4367 lol. Just read the books... FAR BETTER. The characters are A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER, Tyrion is far better in the books, so is Daenerys and Jon Snow, many others. The last few seasons of the show were A JOKE.
LoneWolfMedia we DID play this at our wedding, however it was the instrumental version but we had them startled when we sung "and so he spooooke and so he spoke" just before we went to sit down at the table in the centre for the ceremony. As we are medieval re-enactors, my befriended swordmeister at the scene and we have befriended a big group of archers (and are known for dark humor) there were some who were looking around for a plot twist (expecting archers to jump out at the ready etc), but most of them just enjoyed the scene of my husband walking with his mother to the centre and me with my father with beautiful music on the background having no clue at all what game of thrones was. We did have wondered to ask the archer group to park their van (with big archery logo on it) across the water in plain sight though...(no kidding at that). Oooh we had soooo much fun with the preparations...
God damnit ruiend the fucking show! i will spoil you! eddard, is actually ned! bran and bronn aren't the same fucking person! and the worst one.... tyrion is a dwarf

Actually, you should've written like this: "And 'Who are you?' the proud lord said, 'That I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, That's all the truth I know. In a coat of gold, or a coat of red; A lion still has claws. And mine are long and sharp, my lord; As long and sharp as yours.' And so he spoke, and so he spoke; That Lord of Castamere... But now the rains weep o'er his hall, With no one there to hear. Yes, now the rains weep o'er his hall, And not a soul to hear... And so he spoke, and so he spoke; That Lord of Castamere... But now the rains weep o'er his hall With no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall And not a soul to hear..." This is how exactly looks like in the books, not yours.
The house lannister is better represented now by Tyrion. Had he been acknowledged by Tywin as a diplomat or negotiator they could still be rich and have many of the influence they once had. Also considering he would not have psychological problems with rejection and self image thar leads him to be an alcoholic and sex addict. Now that exiled lion is going to come back against the remaining pack, backed up with dragons and wolves. It's silly that they could have avoided this by not judging a family member by it's height and appearance. Despite all the pomp and bragging, the lannisters are not the smartest house.
+juventude22 Even if Tywin did acknowledge Tyrion, when he inherited the west he'd have no support from his vassals. Tywins father wasn't respected by his vassals and some even openly revolted against him purely because he was weak willed. imagine how these vassals would react to being subjugated by an ugly dwarf that killed his own mother during birth. He'd be fighting continous rebellions alone. Tywin actually tried to get Tyrion married but every lord refused to marry their daughter to him, even the florents refused to marry their deflowered and dishonored daughter to him. Tyrion can never rule, despite his decent political skills .
I hope Bran will fly an ice dragon. The three-eyed raven said he was going to fly, and it would just be the coolest plot twist ever. And why else would Martin introduce the ice dragons in his short novel?
Not to be a downer, but the Ice Dragon book is a republication of a children's story he wrote long before asoiaf and isn't confirmed to be set in the same world.
Bran has flown. Many times. Not sure why everyone thinks him flying means it's gonna be a dragon when the first creature he Warg's outside Hodor/Summer is a crow.
*SPOILERS.* Hodor will be the one to take the Iron Throne. Hodor is the mastermind behind everything that has happened. For now, he is following Bran, pretending to be a simple giant man, waiting for the right moment to make his move.
+Junne Downey At least neither Joffrey nor Stannis would take as much shit as the current Lannister loser who can't even defend his wife against a bunch of potato sack wearing religious bums
+CermderSherperd Martin can barely get a book out on time, do we want to delay anything further while they come out with a 30+ hour RPG for the series? Yes, but also no.
+kecks Rickon's not gonna be alive much longer. And now that the Night's King is hunting Bran, it's safe to say the youngest of the Stark boys will join their brother and parents in the Winterfell crypts
