Andrew thank you, no pre stain conditioner, I find that with the oil based stains, I have never really had an issue with pine or even cherry. I actually feel that pre stain conditioners block the stain from penetrating the wood they way it’s supposed to.

If you have existing doors like this client had, just measure the old ones and build them exactly the same size, if you are just making doors with nothing to measure, You have to be guided by the door track hardware instructions. They have a pivot point at each side of the jam on the end of the tracks. That will tell you all the tolerances, you have to leave room for the middle hinges also. I believe I explained about those measurements while installing the hinges.

bob you have to follow the instructions of the hardware, it will tell you exactly where to drill the holes. Also, as long as you have a good quality glue joint and enough material making contact everywhere else around where you need to drill, then it’s fine to drill into a glue joint if that’s your only spot.

These were a one off custom job. I don’t just make and sell them because they are not standard sizes. I make them only by the specific custom job and they are made to the opening of the door jamb that I would have to come and measure.

Piano hinge will not be strong enough and you would have to mortise it into the door to make the seams close tightly. The no mortise hinges come with the track hardware.
