Bible Prophecy

The title to this post is not cynical....it is meant to be quite straight forward and direct? Christian and Muslims believe Jesus is THE Messiah of the royal line of king David. The majority of Jews believe this Messiah is still to come.
Did you realize there are ONLY ten passages in the Hebrew Bible that predict his arrival and what he is supposed to do.
Here is the first of two slide illustrated lectures in which I thoroughly go through all TEN of these texts. Most think there are dozens of such prophecies, but only these mention the Messiah of the line of king David--and one of them might be in doubt.

*The Job Description…* Who else first reacted to that title with, “Wait… there’s a description of the Messiah in the book of Job?”

Thank you so much dr. Tabor. In relation to Isaiah 9,6-7 I read somewhere many years ago that Egyptian pharaos were given throne-names that should characterize their reign. This custom is alive to this day pertaining to the papacy in Rome. A new pope always takes a throne-name - and reigns as a spiritual king - even of the world - in the eyes of Roman Catholics.

Isaiah 9:6 KJV / Isaiah 9:5 in Tanakh This verse is dishonestly and ignorantly used by Christians to claim it is a prophecy pointing to Jesus. Isaiah 9:6 KJV: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall* be* upon his shoulder: and his name shall* be* called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:5 as translated properly from Hebrew to English: For a child has* been* born to us, a son given to us, and the authority is upon his shoulder, and the wondrous adviser, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, called* his name, "the prince of peace." Notice the proper translation is in past perfect tense, not future tense as is wrong in your KJV bible. Isaiah is referring to someone in the past, hence past perfect tense is used. If you actually care enough about the truth, you need to buy a Hebrew to English Tanakh or go to chabad.org for the proper translations. Isaiah was referring to the king Hezekiah, who was a highly respected king in Isaiah's time. Isaiah was giving the names dedicated to Hezekiah. Hezekiah's name literary means mighty god/Yah is mighty, and he was the prince during a hectic time in history. And fyi, the dead sea scrolls support the Mazoretic Hebrew text of Isaiah 9:5 and not the bad translation of Isaiah 9:6 in the KJV bible. It is a fact that Isaiah was not referring to a future messiah in this verse. Dr. Tabor is wrong here.

In the case which you are stating sir, with all due respect. Then nobody has fit that description, ever. And the difference is between what you're calling past perfect sense, whatever that is supposed to mean. And a child is born. Which could mean past, but it could also mean future, is inconsequential! At this point we can judge from what we know has occurred. And even in the first six points that Mr Tabor shows here, the first two have been satiated, and the rest are yet to occur. But nowhere does it say that when the Messiah comes he will do everything at one time. Quit trying to be a dictatorial noob.

In England the King or Queen has always been anointed like that with oils, in a private ceremony during the coronation (done behind a screen because it is so “holy”). This tradition goes back like 1000 years. Interesting to hear it’s origins!

I’ve often wondered if we have misunderstood the passages that refer to David. “David” and “beloved” are the exact same word in Hebrew, so when YHWH says He will raise the tabernacle of David, perhaps He is saying He will raise the tabernacle of His beloved. To me that just makes more sense because in Daniel we are told the saints/set apart ones will inherit the kingdom, and in Zechariah we are told YHWH will be the King. If He never intended for his people to be ruled by a human king, I feel we should look at the name “David” with different eyes.

I think it is so important to point out that according to the Bible, Christians are waiting for the Messiah to come to set the world right, and complete the Messianic mission, right along with Jews who are waiting for the Messiah to come. Knowing about Jesus the Messiah in his first coming does not negate that we are still waiting for him to come and accomplish what God has promised he will one day do. A lot of the New Testament speaks to this future hope/expectation, and how so much of our Christian lives and belief here and now depends on that future hope. Just a few examples from just one Epistle: I Peter 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.7, 1.13, 1.21, 2.12, 3.15, 4.5, 4.13, 5.1, 5.4. But the same kind of list can be made looking at many other NT books. We are waiting for the Messiah to appear, to be revealed, even while we already know who he is.

I thank you thank you for the accuracy of your understanding, I always thought Jesus came to show mankind their true birth rights. That I always thought he claimed the Messiah would come at a later time, the greater time. And I like the way you explain the ignited one as if there are many priests in that way and there are many Messiahs in that way and every true king isn't that way. Brilliant exposition Dr Tabor. There is no major difference between the earth orientated FUTURE rewards hoped for by the writers of the Hebrew Scriptures and the ‘New Testament’: a restored Israel, under a Davidic King. Except that, only from the time of the Maccabees (from ‘Daniel’) onwards did the writers expect that some would be restored to life in immortal bodies to experience it, on earth. The Gnostics brought in to ‘Christianity’ the idea of immortal souls (theirs only) ascending to the heavens at death. What you have rightly described (immortal soulism and heaven going) as a ‘terrible idea’.

OK, I am at minute 18 now and pausing. I see that there is a second video to able to see all ten. In the Psalms, I count: Psalm 2, Psalm 8, Psalm 24, Psalm 28, Psalm 89... but others I considered can be understood as YHWH apart from His Messiah, until and unless interpreted through the light of other Scripture passages (such as passages that say the Messiah will restore, will judge, will sit in Zion enthroned, will avenge YHWH's enemies, etc.). But that's five so far. II Samuel 7.16, and later prophets who reference that promise. Ezekiel 34:23-24. Ezekiel 34 is special because it speaks of one shepherd: the son of David, , yet YHWH speaks of being himself in the shepherd role over ten times. Isaiah 2 and Micah 4, however, where they are similar, can be read apart from the Messiah if one chooses. So now I'm up to seven. Isaiah 27:1 is understood by many people, and in light of several old and new testament passages, as referring to the Messiah. There are also passages that speak of the arm and hand of YHWH. But let's dismiss those as vague for now. Also Isaiah 6:5 speaks of a king who can be seen, as opposed to the God who cannot be seen. But let's call that vague also, subject to other interpretations. Isaiah 9:7 makes eight. Back to Ezekiel, we've got the end of chapter 37 - that makes nine - again emphasizing one king and one shepherd. Zechariah 3 makes ten. Haggai 2.23 a good possibility. Zechariah 14:9 can be open to other interpretations, but is a good candidate if the King and YHWH are two figures, or if YHWH is the human king as a visible person of YHWH. Daniel 7:14 can be interpreted in ways other than Messianic in this sense. Isaiah 11 might make number eleven on the list. Isaiah 32:1 - twelve. Isaiah 49:6. Jeremiah 33.14-17 = make that thirteen. And of course, that is without counting all the New Testament prophets. So now I'll tune in to more of the video and see what comes next.

This is still a question of dispute. Obama had to take the oath again later that day in 2012 as the chief justice got the oath wrong, as he tried to recite in from memory. This was to stop nit pickers saying he was not the president because the oath he first recited had slightly different words.

I missed Isaiah 16:5, so that makes fourteen now. I wonder if James Tabor is dismissing the references in the Psalms thinking that the Psalms do not count as prophecy. I missed Jeremiah 23:5-6, but that is apparently the same as 13.14-17, so I guess I didn't do too poorly by missing that one. Fifteen. I hadn't counted Zechariah 6.12. Up to sixteen now. Jeremiah 30:9 makes seventeen, and Daniel 9.25, but I won't count Daniel 9.25 because again it is perhaps not explicit enough or not in the same sense. So, up to seventeen.

It sounds cryptic to make a messiah by making holy oil and pour it on the head of somebody, almost as if the Hebrew word "masha" is misunderstood or mistranslated. When taking the Messiah figure literal, it is a spiritual mediator - which can be found anywhere on the Earth having a shamanistic function. BTW: Terrestrial priests can only PREPARE individuals for initiation, but the "anointing one" can only be genuenly initiated directly by the spiritual cosmic experience.

Isaiah 44 and 45 have three mentions of Cyrus in this Messianic way, that seem also - or even more so - to prophesy about what Jesus will one day do. There are other names mentioned about current-day figures whose prophetic meaning seems to be about someone other than the prophet's contemporary, even if a meaning can be applied to the prophet's named contemporary as well: Jacob, Elijah, Zerubbabel, Joshua, Melchisedek, David, the son born to the prophetess and Isaiah, ... and perhaps a few others. In the beginning of Isaiah 49, up to the end of verse 7, God may even be speaking to Isaiah in this way, using Isaiah as a type of the Messiah who would come after Isaiah's lifetime. Isaiah 49:1-7 is probably Messianic in that grand sense, because we don't see anything quite like it fulfilled in Isaiah's lifetime.

This is a bit of a tangent here, but I don't think that YHWH wants a king or temple is a borrowing from earlier Israelite religion. The first thing is a king is not a petty king, like Melchizedek of a small city, the type of king that is being refered to is a king of empires. We can look as Egypt being that kind of king, but I think the reason that the post-Amarna Israelites chose the old pantheon of the conquering East is because of the following. During Sumer predynastic period, over arching kings were kind of frowned upon. Kings had to be renewed in a yearly ceremony, and high priest could (more or less a council of elders for the city) decided that they did not want a king or install a weak ruler during a time of relative peace. There were times, accirding to the sumerian kings list that very popular and widely respected kings rose to power. But this all began to fall apart as Sumer expanded into the cultures of people speaking other languages. At the time the kings of Mari, a colony of Sumer, expanded into canaan they established trade with Ebla. At this time Anu was the high god, but not the war/power god, that was delegated to Enlil and wisdom/trickery/mes was delegated to Enki, and Anu was seated in heaven and in the great temple in Uruk, Eanna. During the period that followed a border dispute resulting in the first short-lived dynastry that threatened the power of the priesthood to determine kingship. Thereafter the semite sargon took power and he removed Anu from the temple and Anu was put on a track to become a semetic god ilu or il[u] ilu. Sargon also expanded Akkadian influence in canaan and his descendants conquered within the "holy land" itself. However Sargon's dynastry was not long-lived and was toppled by the gutians and the old system of sumerian city states wrestled power from the gutians. Each desiring to be the more influential, under this political dynamic power is via trade, and in canaan El becomes a mountaintop god that watches over traders, traveling officials, and herdsmen. This system persisted until the Hitittes and Egyptians vied for power in canaan and the protoIsraelites became a part of that trading system. Im sure they looked backward to a period of time when they, independent trading posts, could control trade through the microstates. And so El, the high god, was kicked out of his ancestral temple by Ishtar, a warring and seductress goddess, by a dynastic king. But on the mountain tops of the colonized regions around Babylon the sky god flourished in influence, and the distributed oriesthood was rather immune to the ambition of conquering dynastic leaders. Apparently El still remained influential until the late Amarna period because the Israelites challenged the Egyptians and the Egyptians attacked. The Egyptian records have it that "there seed is no more" but we see as the the LBAC ends the Israelites have established a confederation of tribes under the rule of what appear to be warrior priests, or officials appointed by priests (e.g. Shamgar of Anath). Within the books os Samu'el the name of god often used is Yahweh, but the proper names often end in "el", and the system of rough hewn alters and tabernacles look very much like the practice of mountain top El worship. The name used in Exodus 6.3, El Shaddai, the god of the big boobs, the god of the high peaks, and in genesis El Elyon, the god most high. These may have been a direct reference to the mountain priest of El. So the big question, contradiction, that appears in the deuteronomistic texts is that they had this legendary stories about deborah, shamgar, El and Anath. But their high god adopted around the time of David/Solomon or shortly thereafter was YHWH. You just cant throw away these powerful legends about people overthrowing the egyptians and installing the old gods back to power. And so we deal specifically with Samuel, a judge/priest of Yahweh but Samuel is waxing romantically about a thoroughly polytheistic system with judges loyal to different city gods but also pious to El (as Eli was a judge and samu'el - their loyalty is in their names), but Samu'el is anointing a king and is lamenting what is going to happen. And David tries to take the tabernacle ark and install it into city-states, but is refused, this is a taboo against El. David is disallowed to build a temple and a story is carefully crafted as to the reason. Jerusalem was a city of the god shalim, and El was a god of the mountains, david was a tribesman of Yahudah with Beth lahmi, the guardian of Yahu. And so something needs to change.

I find that your six points are quite well play and observed. But nowhere does this state that when the Messiah comes he will accomplish all of these tasks at the same time. It was far more important to satiate the Old Law and to introduce the new law. It seems strange that Yeshua bar Joseph actually fits your first and part of the second Point quite precisely. And stated he will return, and accomplish the fulfillment of his mission at a later time. It is not up to us to tell him what time he thinks is correct.

An excellent examination, Dr Tabor. But doesn't Job represent a much older, pre-Jewish, Canaanite tradition that represents the worship of El? That Job is the dramatic, poetic shift of the relationship between man and God based on Canaanite transformation from the worship of El to the worship of Yahweh?
@theophilos0910
@theophilos0910 10 месяцев назад
As you probably already know, the book of Job is a literary collaboration-two separate hands are involv’d : chapters 1 & 2 are written in late Hebrew prose from the Persian period with all sorts of post Exilic (post 532 BCE) Zoroastrian elements such as the figure of Satan, the setting of YHWH at the head of a pantheon of ‘sons of EL’ I.e. ‘angels’ in the stile of a Persian Court & uses the name YHWH for the chief deity, etc; Whereas the poem proper [chapters 3 through 42] is written in an ancient Elamite-accented poetic Hebrew of which about 8% or so of the text is uncertain in translation and mainly uses ELOAH as the divine name (the feminine sg of Elohim. ‘gods’) which is found nowhere else in the Hebrew canonical scriptures - although it sometimes uses Elohim, El-SHADDAI & El-Elyon in places - but never YHWH - the late Masoretic text from 969 CE as well as some DSS copies of Job have YHWH’s name added once or twice in the ‘whirlwind scene’ but is otherwise absent from the text - If you read the book with the PROSE introduction included the point of the story is ‘Job was tested by YHWH & emerg’d victorious through various tribulations that Satan was allow’d to thrust upon him’ but if you remove the Persian period prose introductory chapters 1 & 2 and the very last paragraph and just read the POEM PROPER the message is quite a bit different : it amounts to Job suffering from a serious leprosy type skin disorder by which he rails throughout the narrative against ‘ELOAH’ because he had done nothing in his life to deserve such a fate - so the creator-god appears in a tornado & basically tells him in essence / ‘who the hell are you to judge ME? Don’t you know who I AM ? Were you there when I put the stars in the req’iak dome? Tell me how many there are, since you think you know so much !!’ And the god relentlessly continues along those lines until finally in exasperation Job gives up questioning the will of the divine & simply says, ‘I’m sorry I asked !!’ and resigns himself to accepting his fate-without being heal’d of his leprous condition … In other words the poem proper has a different Weltanschauung than the final editor who put a cutsy moral to the older originally starker & harsher narrative which teaches another lesson about the nature of suffering - ‘what the creator does to a person is what he does to a person [because he’s the boss !] & one just has to accept whatever fate one is given as divine will-and there’s an End.’

The Messiah is anointed and priests are anointed, but that doesn't mean priest are the same as a messiah. They are anointed (consecrated, set apart) for different roles. The Messiah is the leader of the people the same as a king. He is called the Son of God because kings were called the Son of God. He is also called David and the Branch. The messiah is a priest king.

Greetings, the scriptures use animals to represent peoples/mankind continuously. Isaiah 11:6-8 is no different, these animals represent peoples. Isaiah 65 describes the new heavens and earth, which is God tabernacling with mankind, the kingdom that is now established. In verse 25 we again see the animals' representing peoples. If one were to do a word search of the animals mentioned in the bible, they would quickly find out they represent peoples often. your friend

No, not two things God does not want. There is a third, i.e., sacrifice. Instead, God wants a broken and contrite heart. Even the cutting off of certain male privates parts is a symbol of this. Given Dr. Tabor’s Progress Theology leanings, I am curious as to his intense interest in prophecy. I appreciate the academic fleshing out of these topics, but I don’t know where he’s going with it. There seems an unspoken agenda or world view of which we are not informed. I find the academic information provided by Dr. Tabor extremely useful; and I’m sure Dr. Tabor would be satisfied by that; however, since I know of his leaning toward the Progressive Theology of Whitehead, even though the very interesting fruits of his research I find instructive and useful, I am forced to filter it through an undefined bias he may hold. Anyone interested in such things, I might offer a critique, at some time, of his translation of Genesis which is of course is inherently coloured by his own 20th Century bias and experience with all that entails given the nature of ancient Bronze Age thought and text; and the variations of meaning of Hebrew words that are established by the context. Without that cultural context, I might add, such interpretations provide no insight into the original intent of the author, but only a pretext to choose one of many uses of words to advance a certain world view. This may be the very best that one can achieve given the obstacles and thoroughly enjoy Dr. Tabor’s efforts; but I also am obliged to also consider his preferences. “In order to know where I stand on an issue you must first understand where I sit.” And this I find lacking in Dr Tabor’s lectures. If I view such lectures as art I am therefore less concerned in that I have a legitimate right to make of it what I wish.

@Thomas_Geist: I would include sacrifice with the second one, i.e. a physical Temple or "House,"...but good to distinguish it, since a "House of Prayer for all Peoples" is the ideal. Isaiah 56 is interpolated. Good comments Thomas...I usually don't respond to comment son YT but happened to see yours. No hidden agenda on the series, I assure you...it was this prophetic corpus that profoundly influenced the very foundations of Western thought--from the DSS to our own times...and it is one of the major overlooked currents. Even Newton was deep into this stuff. 17th century England is a prime example, with the Fifth Monarchy Men, etc. and all the other disasters, London Fire, Comet, the Plague,...and on and on it goes. I teach a course on "The End of the World as We Know It" and these are the ideas we cover. I have stressed repeatedly that my approach in this series is along the lines of the history of ideas...and these ideas are profoundly affecting our society here in the USA today...Bible Prophecy is having a HeyDay...watch the speech the day before January 6th...they were all over it. I won't comment on your other topic, the TEB approach...of course I am aware of ANE language and literature but my purposes are explained in the introduction. It is designed to be a help for those who are not planning to learn Hebrew, to get the "feel" of the text, poetically, with the style and mode of expression, even the redundant vocabulary.

@@JamesTaborVideos I often get responses to my YT comments but was surprised to see this one from you. Thank you for taking the time. And yes, I think it’s good to make a distinction between sacrifice and any temple since sacrifice predates temples. All’s ya need is a pile of rocks and a knife, or a bog in which to cast the victim. (Sorry for the length of this reply as it doesn’t fit this venue or the attention span of most RU-vidrs. I’m not even sure RU-vid will accept it so it may come in installments. If not for the ready audience and the fact I no longer have your email address, I might have sent this to you directly.) A bit of housekeeping first: I did give some thought to using the word, “agenda,” and doing so without some long-winded explanation which now seems appropriate. I understand definition drift and the importance of context in phonetic languages. Let me say, I did not intend the common usage of an, “anterior motive,” or worse, “propagandizing cum Public Relations,” which carry some negative connotation. I used it here to suggest more of a Socratic method by which one attempts to cause the reevaluation of assumptions or possibly the deconstruction of archetypes which may be more precise in this case. My tentative view is that we always have an agenda behind what we say and do whether they come from the right or left hemisphere of the brain, the heart, the stomach, bowels or organs still South. From where they emanate is less important than that they have purposeful intent if they’ve risen to producing some action. I’m not quite sure I’ve reached any conclusion with regard to the Jan 6 event (also my birthday though I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!). As a longtime student of history, however, I am not as much concerned about personalities as much as the reactive political pendulum swings when the body politic becomes this polarized. I can’t think of one example where it did not inevitably lead to violence and mayhem prior to a new ordered equilibrium. I commented on this as far back as the ‘90s when I saw the rhetoric heating up beyond any point of return and the language itself being split into left and right. Though I haven’t viewed it anywhere, the title of your course, “The End of the World…” along with the qualifier, “…As We Know It,” tells me quite a bit about it. I think we might agree with the idea that metaphysical views that may start out as intellectual theories quickly become ideologies which in turn become unconscious symbolic archetypes; and that these archetypes then become eschatologies that are the fundamental dynamics of history. (Not being a Marxist, I place economics simply in the role of a trigger to conflict.) I do, therefore, understand the idea that redirecting the course of history would require changing the metaphysical foundation of certain archetypes. Is this not part of your, “agenda?” Are you not attempting in some way to disabuse those who hold to such things as a Premillennial Second Coming by pointing out past failed prophecy? I think you are and I do not suggest you have anything but the best of motives. If the project is feasible, it would seem the perfect plan. The bits of this idea I grapple with regarding participatory, Process Philosophy, and how to alter our course toward a cliff we seem to be rushing on almost every front first boils down to the basic, “chichen/egg dilemma,” i.e., are the driving archetypes far more fundamental and primal than eschatology given the natural world with which we have to deal? The Gnostics would agree with me on at least this one point. As you know, William James posited the idea that a transcendent belief in a god is a psychological human necessity and predicted that there would arise a pragmatic religion of utility. I think we see that in part with, The New Age movement. Of course Nietzsche had his own take on this as well. Of course it’s possible or even likely I’ve miss read your intentions, “agenda.” Critical analysis has its own reward, at least in the West going back to the pre-Socratics. I’m all about that as well. I’m just not certain where that takes us once the void is created if there is not some alternative to bridge the gap. I also think your project to create the TEB is a great one. Thoroughly enjoy it. For a guy that attempted to make sense of Budge’s word-for-word translation of the, Egyptian Book of the Dead, without any reference to his commentary, the TEB is right up my alley. Your translation of the first couple of verses of Genesis also raises some very interesting ontological questions regarding cosmology which I may share at some other time.
@Thomas_Geist
@Thomas_Geist 10 месяцев назад
One question I would like to put to you regarding the TEB: Why did you choose to use the word, “was,” as opposed to, “had become,” in the first verses of Genesis? “Was,” is a mere snapshot in time while, “had become,” alludes to a prior state and process. I don’t know if it’s a majority opinion, but, “had become,” is fairly well accepted and may have rather profound implications regarding that fun question, “why is there something rather than nothing.”

مسح masaha = to wipe From the exegesis of Quran by Muhammad ben Jarir at Tabari وأما الـمسيح، فإنه فَعِيـل، صرّف من مفعول إلـى فعيـل، وإنـما هو مـمسوح، يعنـي: مسحه الله فطهره من الذنوب، ولذلك قال إبراهيـم: الـمسيح الصديق. As for the Messiah, it is an active participle, inflected from an object to an active participle, but he is the anointed one, meaning: God anointed him and cleansed him of sins, and that is why Abraham said: the righteous Messiah.

*I'm 70 now and have read only the exact same copy of the King James Bible my church gave me in 1961. (This does not mean I was a King James onlyist but now I'm glad I never read any others or I might not have noticed the changes as quickly.) I had memorized many scriptures from it through the years. Then in 2014 I started seeing changes in it that I couldn't explain. I have an exceptional memory, for instance I can draw a detailed picture of my baby stroller. I had never owned a computer or heard of the "Mandela Effect" back then. But after being given my first computer on 2016, I finally found out why I had been noticing all of the oddities that I couldn't explain. I then started diligently studying what should actually be called the👉 ''Daniel 7:25 Effect''.👈 That's where God said He would give the antichrist the power to "change times and laws'' which we now know meant (history and scripture plus laws of physics). We're seeing many end times prophecies being fulfilled SUPERNATURALLY! This is some of the "lying signs and wonders" that God told us He would give the AC power to perform which would even deceive His very elect, if it were possible in 2nd Thessalonians chapter two!* *God said in the end of days, (NOW!) that He would send us a famine for hearing His word in Amos **8:11** and that He would give the antichrist the ability to do this in Daniel 7:25. In Daniel 12:4 & 12:9 He told him to seal his book until the end days. He told John **_not_** to seal his book because the end time is at hand in Revelation 22:10. One of the Greek definitions of seal in Strongs concordance is “to protect from Satan”. He also told us to write His words in our hearts, which meant memorize, if not word for word at least the essence of what was written, because He knew this was going to happen.* *God commanded us to "prove all things", and people **_better_** obey Him, especially on this subject. I urge you to research this. There are many brothers and sisters making videos about the changes with more proof of what was originally written and I have lots more about this in my playlist 👉 which can be found by typing in ( proof of bible change residue junkie )* 👈 *I've continued to study scripture and have grown MUCH closer to Jesus by learning what Satan has been changing. Soon Amos **8:12** will be fulfilled too, and the only way it can happen is by not being able to see these videos that document what used to be written in our bibles.* *_May God bless all who read this with eyes to see this incredible faith strengthener, and how close we are to our Saviour's return!!!!_* *P.S. Everyone is going to learn about this one way or the other. I'm just trying to keep as many people as I can from hearing Jesus explaining it to them at the Gate.* ❤✝️💪

I find it hard to believe that there are only ten such texts, even if we only consider the prophets. But that said, and just basing my words here on the title without having seen the whole video yet, I am waiting for Jesus Christ to come to earth and accomplish the things that the prophets say the Messiah will do. It is obvious that Jesus' work was not all finished in his first coming, and the Scriptures make clear that we are waiting for the Messiah to come, even during this age after he has come once.

The Jews differentiate a “Christ” vs. “Messiah” in two distinctive ways. Christ is anyone that has been anointed with holy oil. Messiah, however, must have delivered a substantial amount of peoples or nations. Moses and Joshua are considered to be the greatest messiah’s to have ever lived, in, in the Bible. I outline that because they are not historical figures. It is easy to expand the envelope with respect to multiple messiah’s because you are correct in saying the patriarchs are to be messiahs due to their future role according to the promises. It was the people that wanted a king to govern their affairs, being a rebellious house that rejected their king. Job alludes unto a conquering warlord- the angel of death also known as the king of terrors that should subdue the wicked house.

In the Bible- .There are gods, then there is the true God the Creator .There are messiahs, then there is the Messiah or Saviour .Jesus is the Messiah because the Tanahk requires that the Messiah come from the line of David. In the time when Jesus was on earth temple records could trace tribal origins of people, however later on till today NO JEW can prove if he is from the line of David, he cannot even prove his tribal connection. Meaning any Jew today or in the future cannot now prove he is of the Davidic line. This leaves Jesus as the only Messiah. .Many Jews in Israel who speak Hebrew and are educated in the Tanahk are turning to Jesus the Messiah. This idea that western Christians who dont know Hebrew have got it wrong, well that argument doesnt hold up with large amount of Hebrew speaking Jews turning to Jesus.

*Failed prophecy* 1 Corinthians 7:29-31, repeating Daniel 11-12 as if D had not written about his own time, “(Time has grown short) *From now on,* let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.” Sounds as tho Paul thought Jesus would return within a few months at most.

The oil represents the wisdom and power of YHWH poured upon his annointed. The Fathers Annointed in the new covenant are his suffering servant his witnesses. The kings and priests of a new living covenant. The Anointed is not one person. Its all of the very elect of the one seed of David. Jer 33:22, Psalm 18:50. All Those given authority to enter thru the veil into the most holy place. The firstfruits of his spirit. The only begotten of his incorruptible seed. The Son of God is not one person but many in the new covenant Rev. 21:7. Just like the virgin daughter of Zion is not just one person. If you are anointed by YHWH then you are a christ. You are one with the Father. The gospels are a hidden metaphorical allegory. As are the OT stories.

Priests, prophets & kings were all ‘smeared with Shemen’ (scented olive oil) - besides Aaron & Samuel ‘smearing’ Shaoul the first Benjamin clan-chief of Yisroel (‘and David cut the hem of Shaoul’s robe but then stopt, & said, ‘Dare I slay Yahweh’s Annointed Christ ?’) We also have-as Jimmy rightly pointed out-pagan gentile Messiah’s such as Kurosh the Persian (‘Cyrus’) in Deutero-Isaiah chapter 45:1 (‘Behold Kurosh my Christ ! sayeth YHWH’) because he sent 4 or the 24 exil’d priestly families home to Palestine - ‘Why do haGoyyim so furiously rage together against YHWH & his Annointed ?’ So what are the 14 (DVD in Hebrew sacred Gematria 4 + 6 + 4) duties of the Meshia’q ? ‘Behold Sovereign YHWH’s spirit has rested upon my head & he has ANNOINTED ME to : Heal the sick, bind up the wounds of the broken-hearted, free the prisoners from captivity, bring light to those who dwell in darkness, (= does this mean to give sight to the blind ?) raise up the dead, & proclaim the ‘good news of the coming Kingdom’ and to announce the Day of Vengeance of our clan-god and the time of Yahweh’s Favour to the Evionim’ (‘the poor ones’ aka Ebionites) is evidenc’d in the various Dead Sea scroll’s text versions of Trito-Isaiah 61:1 including the unpointed paleoHebrew Vorlage (textual underlay) to the Septuagint LXX… Apparently there were other features to this ‘list of duties of the Meshia’q including ‘Ingathering back to Yisroel the lost sheep of the elect of the house of Yisro’el scatter’d amongst haGoyyim (diaspora Jews living amongst pagan gentiles)’ The book of Revelation seems to list some extra Messianic ‘duties’ as well as setting the stage presumably so that once re-gather’d qol-Yisroel could then fully participate in the Final War against the Gentiles (cf: the warrior Weltanschauung of the ‘book of Revelation’ which takes ‘announcing the Day of Vengeance of YHWH against haGoyyim’ rather literally including overtly anti Gentile ‘New Psalms’ sung by 24 Levites in the heavenly temple : See e.g. ProtoIsaiah 30:22 ‘And in that day when YHWH crushes the gentiles with strokes of the staff held in his mighty right arm, on the field of battle shall warriors be accompanied by Levetical harps & timbrels when YHWH himself brandishes them with his mighty club’ cf: DSS versions of Proto-Isaiah 30:22ff Other ‘duties’ of haMeshia’q may include the list of items found in Aramaic Daniel 7:13-26 where the barEnasha (‘son of man’) will take possession of an everlasting kingdom … and shall pass judgement upon all flesh that YHWH has resurrected …’ So if one equates ‘Meshia’q’ with ‘barEnasha’ in AramDan 7:13ff as Jesus apparently did, one of his jobs is to judge all the Souls in the final judgement to punish the wicked & reward the righteous (e.g. ‘to those who carry on until the bitter end without flinching or losing their nerve … to him the barEnasha shall grant : e.g. to sit upon 12 golden thrones judging the 12 tribes of Yisroel; to eat the ‘hidden manna of Moshe’; to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life & thereby live forever; to become a pillar in YHWH’s temple, engrav’d with a secret name; be given the white stone of the Proselyte whose new name shall only be known to him alone, etc. There is so much more to write about Rabinnic fantasies about ‘what King Messiah will do’ but this should be enough to chew on for now- Comments, anyone ?

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." - Matt. 16: 24, 25 "Therefore said he unto them, THE HARVEST truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." Matt. 9:38 "…Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.…" - Matt. 24:45+ "…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." - Dan 11:32b "And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. Now when they fall, they shall be aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by intrigue." - Dan. 11:33,34 "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." - Dan 12:3 "And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." - Matthew 24:10-13 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Rev. 12:11 "But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets." - Rev. 10:7 (7th Trumpet) "But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection." Rev. 20:5 (Referring back to the 7th Trumpet which describes it - OCCURRING… SPECIFICALLY & CLEARLY) "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years." - Rev. 20:4-6 (Where are the 'pre-tribbers' in this one of a kind promise…? These are the ONLY ones who need not fear "The Second Death." ) We are to bear fruit. Fruit are the works of God and the oil in the "Lamps of the 5 Virgins." “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Matt. 12:50 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." James 2:26 WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH - and faith only, but that faith has to be the real thing and one cannot have faith in God and not be moved... to works on His behalf. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 How do you "Love God" without… 'loving’ God? ………………………….. “If you love Me, keep My commandments." John 14:15 …………………………. "Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me." John 14:23,24 "Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and THEIR WORKS FOLLOW THEM.” - Rev. 14:13 "And, behold, I come quickly; and MY REWARD is with me, to give every man according as his WORK shall be. When you claim that Jesus is from the line of David you are denying that he is God. The sermon on the Mount is the gospel of the kingdom. Nowhere in The sermon on the Mount in any one of the four gospels, does Jesus mention dying on the cross to pay for any ones sins. So why do Christians preached this gospel instead of the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus preached? When Jesus appeared to Joseph Smith he told him that Christianity was of the devil. BUT, being of the "Davidic" 👑 and NOT the "Aaronic" chief priesthood, this CONTRADICTS the supposedly "divine" Levitical Law!! IRONICALLY, the CLOSEST Judah ever got to fulfilling this "prophecy", according to the Talmud, was the reign of QUEEN Alexandra SHALOME in the first century BC!!

A big problem Religion has is that everyone thinks the Bible is about El (Deus) when it's actually about Elohim (Deities). Keep in mind the Hebrews syncretized three main titles of God to all just mean God. Those titles are El, Elah and Elohim. To get some context on the meaning of El, Elah and Elohim we can use the Latin counterparts of Deus "God", Dea "Goddess" and Dei which has two uses one plural "gods" and one possessive "God's" based on context. Genesis 1 Elohim (Deity) is possessive context. (God's Son) Genesis 2 Yahweh Elohim (deities) is plural context. (adopted idiot) Try the NOG translation on Bible Gateway. Doesn't remove God's titles. Does remove a metric 💩-ton of contradictions. Religious Dogmatics call the entire Bible "Good" and that generates sooo many biblical contradictions. The Bible is about knowing Good from Evil, not about knowing Good and lying about the Evil (apologetics).

The "stone with seven eyes" meant LITERALLY 👁️ 👁️ engraved on it, because such images would be engraved at the top of Egyptian inscription stelae as an apotropaic or prophylactic against vandals. So the Stone described here would (to the superstitious) be "guarded" by the Seven Spirits of the Archangels.
