We had an early morning start for our 2nd day in Albay!
It was a rainy ATV adventure and even if Mayon went hiding again, we enjoyed the ride along Cagsawa Forest Trail. Just beside Mayon Skydrive is the Cagsawa Ruins, a historical landmark in Albay and one of the most photographed destination in the Philippines, over the years.
For lunch, we hit the jackpot with this budget-friendly eatery serving delicious bicolano dishes!
We spent the afternoon at Quituinan Ranch. We were lucky to have the place for ourselves but not too lucky to be given the opportunity to see the majestic Mayon volcano in its full glory! On a clear day, this is probably the best place to enjoy the beauty of Mount Mayon.
For our last stop, what we thought would be a "walk in the park" turned out to be an extra challenge! We were not expecting to climb 300+ steps to the top of a hill and take a few more steps downhill to visit a cave that used to be an old amethyst mine. We enjoyed every step of the way, nevertheless. Albay's version of chocolate hills is a sight to behold. I can just imagine it being more enchanting, with the Mayon Volcano beside it as the back drop!
