Wow I never would have thought pvc would work for this but there you go!

+1 for very useful! Thanks for creating and uploading. I like the fact that poly tube is less likely to damage the inner face of the headtube compared to some 'other' videos where they have used metal pipe. #TopTip #Headset #Cup #Removal #Poly #Waste #Pipe. Much apprecated :)

Thanks!! I made the tool out of PVC, pretty easy. I used my stove top to soften the pvc to bend out the flanges. But in the end I found that the PVC material has a dampening effect. Me, being a 63 year old female but not light weight, could not generate enough force in my arms to extract the cups. So, I ended up on Amazon buying the Bike Hand YC-1858S tool. I feel that Bike Hand products are a great value at almost half the price of the Park Tool versions. This tool, being metal and also having a heavy plug in the hammer end made the job super easy. The metal was the answer! It was around 21 bucks. I saved the PVC tool I made. I am going to try it again on another bike just to see if it can work....or maybe get a body builder with big guns to get them cups out. LOL

Was looking for an idea like this, thanks. I also use the very accurate eye ball method, probably to much

Are the bearings integrated into the cups?

Why not just use 1" pipe?

1" pvc with it's 1.3" outside diameter is too wide for a common 1 1/8" headset. The 3/4" is about 1" outside diameter, so it'll fit just fine.
